So, when Borderlands 2 added Torgue Vending machines, that sold all guns made by that vendor, going and farming coins to buy DPUH or Kerblaster wasn't earning it??
So tell me, what should have I done? Not buy the Ice Breaker, and keep doing Strikes and PVP and pray that at the end of a match I get something usefull? Your logic needs an intelligence buff

1. Farming Torgue Tokens didn't take that long at all. 2. It took much longer to get a DPUH with a Torgue grip (for max damage) 3. The machine is always there and the stock changes every 18 minutes. You can get whatever you want.
