Actually Earning Your Gear:
Collecting and saving up coins to buy sets of gear through weekly raids. EARNING
Getting ranks in Vanguard/Crucible/Iron/Queen/etc along with the marks to buy things. EARNING.
Exotic bounties. Its like a proper quest almost. EARNING
Random Drops. RANDOM. NO EFFORT REQUIRED.
AS far as I have seen, all weapons in this game are 'cookie cutter' weapons. Sorry, please take a number and try again.

Ok then explain to me why the Legendaries I have are better than the ones the factions give especially when I can't even buy from them? Their stock doesn't change and my Crypt Dweller (dead orbit sells one but I'm not even rank two with them) has explosive rounds as a perk and the one dead orbit sells doesn't. Tell my why my Lord High Fixer has better stats than the one the crucible quartermaster sells, when I don't even do crucible bounties to be able to rank up with them? And it also has explosive rounds when the one they sell doesn't. Tell me why my Final Boss shoots arc damage and the Vanguard Quartermaster Final Boss shoots solar damage? I have pictures to prove all of these.

Because it's RANDOM. It goes both ways: the Vanquisher you 'find' can have radar active while ads, while the on you buy from ranking has Glass half empty: start shooting each other, and the bought one outperforms the found one. Plus I have Knucklehead Radar so the perk on the found one is useless to me

Ok but what if you found one with glass half empty and better impact? Well then it means you need to farm for the one that fits your needs instead of calling it quits after one drop.
