Gamers: They Don't Make Them Like They Used To

I paid 60 dollars for Skyrim, and put over 450 hours into a character before I got bored and never picked it up again. Same with Oblivion. I paid 60 dollars apiece for Battlefield 3 and 4, and haven't touched either in over 6 months. I paid an unbelievable amount of money for a great many Final Fantasy games, which entertained me for all of two months. Now Destiny is here, and I can't put it down. It's immersive, it's got a great story (for those who actually pay attention to the cutscenes), it has amazing multi-player capabilities for a console game, and the graphics/animations are absolutely fantastic. Sure the same strikes are recycled constantly with varying difficulties and it gets a bit stale, but when I get tired of them I like to just wander the maps and admire the scenery. And that's not even mentioning the PvP. I might be an OP hunter with my The Last Word, at the top of nearly every match leaderboard I play these days, but I've always enjoyed bladedancing through a group of outraged opponents on Venus or picking off enemies across the surface of the moon with my 007 tongue-in-cheek. My point is, why make such a big deal about the lack of content in the game or how much you paid (some of the stellar comments I read included "paying your electric bills" and "money you're not going to give back") when you knew what you were paying for? Many of you were with me in the beta. Usually listed right under GamingButterfly in the leaderboards. We all had a general idea of how large the solar system would be, and about how many missions/strikes would be included in the original package using Earth as a basis. But we all bought it, didn't we? And we got what we paid for. I, for one, believe it was money well spent. I'm also going to buy every DLC package as it becomes available, because I believe this is a truly amazing game. Being a gamer isn't finding the bugs and glitches. It isn't constantly screaming about what's fair or isn't. It's about playing and enjoying the game. It's about charging through the Vault of Glass a million times to get that one particular weapon, only to find Xur selling it the following weekend, shaking your head in exasperation and moving on to the next. It's a game, guys. And you paid just as much for it as you did Battlefield 3, which is gathering dust on the edge of your shelf. See you in the tower, friends.
