These exotic bounties are a huge pain. I'm mostly a PvE player, and being forced to participate in these insane PvP matches is simply unfair! I'm currently working on the 10,000 crucible points for tolands legacy, and it's taking forever! If you're going to have these exotic bounties then you should have a separate system set up to give exotic bounties of the PvP variety as well as the PvE variety. Give everyone a fair chance of completing them and reaping the rewards.

  • I agree with you, just got an exotic bounty and after telling me to kill 500 hive to get the weapon, now saying another 500 people need to be killed in the crucible by void damage, and I don't want to go on crucible!!! And it would take forever, plus if i ever finish this, how am I guaranteed that it won't need me to kill something else?. Are they going to fix this problem???

  • Well I can tell you the TRUTH about the thorn bounty, but you would rather go to pve and just kill the swordbrearer, making you the SWORD BREAKER. Then after killing your enemies, you would be able to write a story, with an EPILOUGUE. See what I'm saying

  • That's the easiest pvp part of any of the exotic bounties. You don't lose points for deaths. If you are really having trouble with it...follow the point leader on your team and get assists.

  • I think if ur not playing pvp then exotics are useless, the whole point of Destiny is to "BECOME LEGEND" what good is becoming legend if its for pve? Its all about the competition and beating ur friends and complete strangers so thats why they put such an emphasis on pvp.

  • I'm in the same place. Trying to do the Thorn Hand Cannon but me and pvp aren't really good together. I love the game but being forced to do something I'm not good at (this was stated by others in the thread as well) is cruel. If anything there should be options. If you're a pvp person, choose that route ... If not then go the other, such as collecting a crazy amount of something from killing whatever. I'm in total agreement you. Bungie should implement a change. I'm on the verge of selling the game back (all depends on how much they'll give) to get something else.

  • Hi, Destiny's klutziest Hunter here. For the PvP side of things, your best bet is to get a machine gun with decent stability, grab the heavy ammo every time it spawns, and back up your teammates and mow the enemy team down. Remember that armor protection and damage levels are moderated in the Crucible, so even a "common" rarity weapon works with the right perks. Pick a game like Control, because the control points will draw the most targets for you. I tend to use the Stranger's Rifle with the stability perks active, whatever special weapon fits the map (sniper for the Moon, shotgun or fusion rifle for medium/close-quarters maps), and Zombie Apocalypse MG with stability perks active (nothing like MG headshots hahaha). Not gonna lie, I still suck at PvP, but this combo gets me kills. The backup always follows the point man, H.

  • Do clash or control, vicinity kills from your teammates seem to count too.... I've ran through the PvP part of tolands legacy in one evening and I'm not that good at PvP.... Started the Thorn-bounty NOW that's a bitch....

  • Totally agree - if you don't like/want to do PvP you might as well forget the exotic bounties. I got one for Thorn but realised I would never get the 500 void kills in Crucible so ended up deleting the bounty because it was wasting a slot that would let me earn XP and vanguard rep. (this is where trading would be nice - I'm sure someone else would have something I'd actually want in exchange for the part complete bounty if they were a PvP player).

  • I did the tolands legacy and the PvP wasn't too hard try and stay back and camp that's what I did. The bounty to get Thorn is a B()$& when you get to the PvP part having to get kills with a void weapon and being horrible at PvP sucks.

  • You know that you get 75 points for a lock kill and 25 for titan and hunt kill, right? Also, unlike with the hand cannon, you don't lose points for deaths. Even if you are terrible at PVP there is no reason it should take you more than 20 matches. It is good the exotic bounties require you to do both PVE and PVP, it increases the player base for both and means you have to actually work to get them and not just play the game the same way you have been.

Shaena, you do realize that exotic bounties are reportedly not given out for turning in pvp bounties. Which means any pvp player that wants an exotic bounty is forced to go do pve bounties in order to trigger the event to get the exotic bounty in the first place. So how is it not fair that you participate in some pvp when I am forced to do pve just to get the bounty to trigger? Seems to me to get these weapons pvp'ers are actually the ones having to do more crap out of their comfort zone. pve bounties must be done to trigger the exotic bounty to pop up, then there are multiple stages of pve content with only one stage of pvp content. The pvp player is forced to do way more pve than the pve player is forced to do pvp. And none of that is to even mention the fact that Bungie gave pvp'ers no way of upgrading their gear and equipment within pvp. So once we even get these weapons we have to do more pve to farm upgrade mats. So realistically you've got it good. You'll spend a fraction of the time in pvp that I will be forced to spend doing boring robot pve.

  • Incorrect. Exotic Bounties can be received from crucible bounties or vanguard bounties, but the bounty itself requires you typically do PVP and PVE to get the reward.

  • I agree with you, the PvP players are having a rough go with it just as much as the PvE players. Which is why I fully believe there should be a separate system for the exotic bounties. PvP players want to be able to duke it out in the crucible and earn weapons with which they can upgrade in said crucible, then set up a system specifically for those purposes. PvE players want to be able to stay out of the crucible while still reaping the rewards for these bounties and upgrading their weapons as well, then again set up a separate system for those purposes. Either way it seems no one will ever fully be happy with the way the exotic bounties work. I'm not saying I'll give up because I'm still working on another bounty after having completed one, but I'm definitely not gifted in the crucible. And I know a lot of other people are even worse at it than I am. Even if they could just tone down the crucible parts of the bounties it would make the PvE players more accepting to going into those matches and fight for them. I know a lot of PvP players run through these parts of the bounties, but for the rest of us it takes a lot of time and effort. Not saying they should make it super easy ( cause then everyone would be bored and not want to do it) but to try and be considerate to those of us who really try to be better at the crucible and are just lacking in that department.

  • No not true for me. Have played PvE almost exclusively (1-2 crucible matches and never a crucible bounty). Have turned in numerous VG bounties and gotten exotic bounties twice. The first I abandoned because it had a crucible requirement. The second also has a crucible component and probably will abandon that one as well. So I agree with the post, I shouldn't be forced to play PvP for exotic bounties, there should be a non crucible path to complete them.

  • I totally agree with you, I don't play PvP and here I must in order to get something exotic, It sucks big time, why can't I buy instead stuff that I need or want, I don't have time to play endless domination B...s... I just hate it because it makes no sense to me

  • Like some others have said, we believe it's bungies way of getting people out of their comfort zones and helping them to better themselves in the areas where they don't excel. But at the same time they have made these crucible parts of the bounty quite high. The PvE portion of the bounties is always something easy like completing one particular strike mission, or buying something from one of the NPC characters. But then the crucible parts are outrageous like get 10,000 kill points. Or a kill spread of 25 (which is actually quite difficult as it took my friend a few weeks to get past this part of the bounty and he enjoys PvP). Or the 500 kill points with void damage. If they can't have a separate bounty system, then at the very least tone down the crucible parts of the bounty for the rest of us so we might too have a chance of reaping the rewards.

  • As I stated yesterday, there is no reason to be rude or to try and put someone else down. I don't consider myself a 'baby' because I'm not much of a PvP player. I'm happy for those who excel in the PvP matches and can actually obtain the rewards of these bounties. Good for you to have that much time to devote to bettering your skills.
