Legendaries need an extended hold time to dismantle. It goes pretty fast.
[Edit]I tested this a few days ago. Legendaries dismantle at the same rate as uncommons and rares.

They do. It's nearly 5 seconds.

Have you dismantled a legendary? It's not nearly that long.

I said nearly. And yes I have to get the shards. Regardless, it's longer than blue and below and long 3 bough to stop if you doing it on accident. Unless of course u our really out of it in which case you ought to be in bed and controller out of your hands...someone could get hurt or gear accidently dismantled.

True. I just dismantled a bunch of legendary shaders I have an infinite amount of and used a timer. It's around one second, and less than one and a half. Should really be extended.

I confess I dismantled a nice Legendary at 2:00AM while playing Destiny whilst tired. Suddenly woke up to find a bunch of weapon parts and a few ascendant energy on the right of my screen. "Where did these come from? Oh, shoot."

That sucks and all but it can't be held against them. They put in a system they thought be best and least intrusive. What we do beyond that is all on us.
