Honest question to those complaining about the Iron Banner - have you ever played other shooters? Like at all? Well I have - I've played CoD a lot and love the BF series. Interesting thing about those shooters? Levels don't always indicate how good someone is. You can do well as a low level, if you play smart, utilize the strengths of your kit, and have a good shot. Maybe the reason why some of you are getting beaten by lower level players isn't because the Iron Banner is broken, but because those players are actually better at a competitive multiplayer shooter than you? You know - better at: a) controlling recoil? b) navigating the map? c) thinking smart? lol - just because you are struggling agiainst a lower level guy, it doesn't mean that there's somethin wrong with the game - it more than likely means that you are being outworked, out skilled, and out-thought. So adjust. OR, come onto a forum and embarrass yourself. You pick.

The first auto rifle is rated at 20 damage. A max legendary or exotic auto rifle is at 300. If the stats truly mattered, a 20 damage rifle would take 70 bullets to take out someone with 1400 armor (pretty sure shields are a standard amount regardless of level). A 300 damage assault rifle should take 1 shot to kill a level 5 with 250 armor. That's the impression of the iron banner most players had. I'd hope most would understand that it'd be no different from standard crucible if two 29s go at it with similar damage ratings and armor ratings on their gear. But there is a blatant difference between low and high levels that logically would result in low levels getting destroyed. Because of the ambiguity in Bungie's description, that's what was expected. I think it makes sense for people to be mad about this. Seeing as low level pve areas scale you down so at level 30 a level 10 dreg can put your shields down, gear constantly seems to mean nothing. Now it means very little again in a pvp scenario advertised as challenging due to gear counting. I'm not disappointed because I barely do pvp but for that pvp community this is a bogus event.

  • Now that you do mention the maths, the Iron Banner does seem like a bit of a crap-shoot. I admit to not really understanding WHY people are moaning and complaining, because no one ever explains anything around here, but you've done a valiant job of it - not bad for someone who doesn't play much PvP.

  • Judging by the reaction my initial post has received, I think it's become a little apparent that what Bungie were advertising isn't what Bungie delivered, so I do take a step back and accept that I may have been wrong in my initial assertions regarding the Iron Banner. I think one thing is clear though - having put hours and hours into Destiny, I think many of you feel that you somehow "deserve" the right to be absolutely invincible within the Iron Banner. I don't think that's fair at all, and that's where I was coming from. I don't think there should be anything in the game that automatically makes you so much stronger than anyone else, so the idea that parity exists between low level players and high level players in this supposed super-hardcore-competitive multiplayer playlist, is something that I am OK with.

  • I agree but am also upset that Iron Banner was falsely advertised. Level advantages are not-apparent, at all.

  • Iron Banner was never about your level, but the quality of your gear. If you are looking for level advantages, you are viewing the event in the wrong way.

  • Ur an idiot, he is just pointing out his observations how the gear that he and his opponents were wearing made a difference. He says that he kill lvl 30s just as fast as he killed lvl 9s wtf does that have to do with skill?

  • That the damage output that his weapons are doing, are the same regardless of who is going up against. Which is the point of the Iron Banner

  • TickTac77 you are absolutely correct, its about the skill for ex: just because you have a gun higher in damage than mine doesnt me that i cant kill you, if im "skilled" i would be control my gun's recoil and shoot you in the head💀 which adds a damage bonus. I think i will follow you on Destiny 👍

  • I agree that player skill can make up for lvl advantages in a lot of cases and I am absolutely horrendous at PVP and I know it, however I know that from my PVE experiences with destiny if I were to take my lvl 4 titan into an area with lvl 14 NPC's I would die instantly without question. If Iron Banner PVP matches have the gear and weapon advantages turned on why is it that people who are 10 + lvl's below me can survive hits from my weapons and still shoulder check me into oblivion?

  • It's like....people miss the point of iron banner. A low level should hardly be damaging a lvl 29 with armor and damage of guns fully optimized. The point was your gear and weapons would be fully optimized and would be considered in a firefight. It's not about skill, a low level should not be damaging a higher level opponent if gear stats are turned on. And by low level I mean lvl 9 vs a lvl 27. There a ton of videos out right now that show the iron banner is no different than the regular crucible and gear, once more, does not matter and is no different than the regular crucible.

  • it's cute how frustrating you are getting because there's no pronounced way for you to stomp on other players lol. Having to rely on "stuff you've earned" instead of actually going out and getting better at the game must be an absolute nightmare for someone like you. My deepest sympathies

  • But that is the whole point of Iron Banner. Or, at least, that's how it was advertised. In standard Crucible matches the best player wins regardless of gear or level (for the most part), but in Iron Banner gear and level were supposed to matter and they don't. I don't disagree with your admonishment to play better, but I also feel like you're missing the point.

  • Lol dude I'm not frustrated at all and I'm enjoying it. Don't get it confused. But I'm not going to pretend that I can't see why others are disappointed. I do relatively well so it's not about me pubstomping. It's about how level advantages were suppose to be on. Can you damage high level monsters in pve at a low level? No. It shouldn't happen in the iron banner where it was suppose to be similar. But like I said, I'm not even mad lol. I just see where others are let down.

There are definitely some lower level players who are better than me no doubt. But level advantage is gear stats and weapon damaged being used and giving some players an edge and some a disadvantage and it's not working. I'm not complaining about dying I'm complaining about the level advantage being useless. If they said that iron banner was a new control mode with special IB gear I'd be fine but the fact that they advertise it as a huge level advantage is an annoyance and a lie yet again.
