What you are missing is the fact that the whole reason for the crucible is the factions. You think Guardians just get together to fight for fun? You are supposed to choose your faction and represent them against players from other factions. If you hover your cursor over the crucible game types you will see that each one has a "faction sponsor". That is why it takes crucible marks to buy their gear

Edited by Veolan: 10/8/2014 4:41:53 PMI think Factions should be more worried about humanity dying instead of who's better in the crucible, just saying.. Plus it makes no sense PVE content gives you REP but you need PVP marks to purchase.

It's just like any political party. They do care about humanity dying but they each have their own ideas on how to save humanity. They are fighting for the right to lead the guardians. You get rep for them for every activity you do because you are "representing" them when you are in the field but you are only truly furthering their goals when you are defeating guardians that represent the other factions.

Still seems pretty stupid IMHO. I think Factions in this game need reworking.
