On Navy Seals, I had no idea they were trained that hard, they're constantly cold, wet, and miserable! And they only get like 4 hours of sleep during one of the weeks of there training.

just for clarity, I was posting that with the reference to the thing where the cat tries, and ends up dead. I forget the phrase/story off of the top of my head.
Posted by: The Sarge You should enlist in the Marine Corps, Megan 327, if you want a helluva challenge. Boot camp, with the Navy's piloting, I would, but the Marine Corps. don't have the intense piloting and engineering that I would love to go into to become an Astronaut. Something about going about 250 nautical miles up, then getting to come back down through atmospheric plasma, and going where no one has gone before. Something thrilling, exiciting, and unknown about all of that. But I still would like living life a little on the edge. [Edited on 11/29/2004 8:56:29 AM]

or do a bunch of drugs, and then go to a wilderness

This still sounds like something that I if I could try to do, I would. [Edited on 11/28/2004 5:44:59 PM]
Posted by: Kendoboy thats half the hike and thats just the begining you do it none stop finish in one day or fail then you swim about 5 miles with gear then you have to pass a rigorous obstecoule course with a gun hit every target and thats just to be accepted. after that its a -blam!- load of more pain torture and misury if i was built like that i would do it these people that go in are monsters they can kill you in quite a few diffrent ways without a gun even if you have one
Dude, that ain't the half of it. The D-boys are INSANE. (All this stuff I know, by the way, is declassified and recent as of, like, 1980. It was found in the book Inside Delta Force by Eric L. Haney...it's a great read) After the grueling hike, around 10-15 of the average starting class of 100-120 are left. They are the ones who are actually gonna make it into the Delta Force. The next thing they start on is the marksmanship part of the training. Instead of using the sights on their guns, which takes precious milleseconds, and every bit of time helps when you're in a close-quarters fight, they use "instinctive aiming," where they basically think about hitting something and then hope their gun hits it. They get so good at it that they can basically shoot something at the mere thought of it--without really aiming! This is an extremely crucial and handy skill, especially for taking down an airplane. The snipers (actually, basically the whole force in general) has so much mental control that they are capable of some amazing things. For example, they can warm specific parts of the body, such as a trigger finger, with their own willpower. They can enter a state of sleep-like awareness, where their minds basically become cleared and relaxed, yet observant at the same time. This enables them to stay on guard for prolonged periods of time, while not getting bored and also, basically "sleeping." They don't sleep, but because their mentally relaxed, they don't get tired. They can consciously control their heartbeat, as well as their aim. Then, they learn how to assault just about any type of assault-able thing imaginable. Then, they learn how to be CIA-like agents, capable of going undercover and doing intelligence drops (this is why the Delta Force is so top-secret and many of the pictures of active duty D-boys are blanked out). This is just some of the stuff that I can remember off the top of my head. [Edited on 11/23/2004 10:35:23 PM]

I am a young adult without discolosng my actual age. I woud so like to try that program out. But for me, it is out of the country. My high school only had regular gym class, but for me, that was an adventure due to the jock and preps there. There were acouple of us who had done sports, so it was a constant war you could say between the jocks/preps and the atheletes. Needless to say, the atheletes normally won. wish i could go where is your school?
-
Megan it sounds like you would want to take the Navy Seals' gym course at my school, but it is only for boys *shrugs shoudlers* no clue why. [Edited on 11/23/2004 4:46:20 PM]

heh i reached that limit i went unconciouse fun stuff anywho how old are you
-
you are in a lot better shape than me. I don't get the chance to go to the gym, and I need to lose about 20 pounds. I used to run cross country and I miss getting out and exersizing...... I know that I am not good enough, I would like to see how far I could get before my mind either quits or my body fails.
-
i have no problems with my body the only thing i would improve would be to gain weight and look better other then that im prety built i go to the gym five times a week and i do two intensive sports that make me train like hell i would try but i dont think im good enough
-
Well, I have two weak (almost completely shot) ankles, two knees that are highly senitive, a back that sometimes has this sharp pain that may not return for months, as well as an elbow that has a scar on it for when I almost skinned it to the bone. I still would try.
-
heh when i read those books was when i decided to stop stoping for pain i went a bit too far and destroyed all the nerves in my right knucle now i can punch a brick wall all day and not feel a thing i had to go to the ER
-
It is not always about the result, but about the effort it takes to get there. That is why I would try. Don't know until you try. So what if some injury happens.... We all get injured sometime.

cats will kick your ass buddy

The whole thing about women not joining certain organisations is just sexism, and the belief that they cannot handle what is required. I personally disagree with this, but im just aan unimportant guy. Strangley enough many counter terrorist forces are told to target women terrorists first in any hostage situation. This maybe due to them belive them to be a greater threat, as maybe they are more devoteted to the cause (dunno why just my suggestion). Oh and i would never try any tough training for any military organisation. Im a pacifist and a wuss (no the two dont automatically go together, they just concide in me). I had to backpack 200 miles over the summer in my seventh grade year...it was supposed to make me stop doing drugs and make me good oh and for about three days they leave us alone about a mile from everyone else for three days I did another one when I went to my rehab/therapeutic boarding school and for the solo (three days alone) they also only gave us a bag of peanuts...I caught a live fish and ate it [Edited on 11/23/2004 3:13:39 PM]
