WHY ARE THESE TOOLBAGS RUNNING THROUGH MAPS?

Since when has this been the cool thing to do? About a week ago is when it started getting annoying... I have to deal with at least one guy running ahead and leaving every single enemy alive and well behind him. They dont save any time by doing this, they make it more challenging to clear that part of the map, and besides saving what ammo they have (assuming enemies dont drop any for them) i cant find a good reason for doing this. Id love to see something to prevent people from doing this or at least add "runner" to the player report. Way too many "unhelpful" players without counting these toolbags that run through the map. • They could stay and help but I have a feeling you would make a post saying they are killing all the mobs and not leaving any for you.

    • Theres actually no point in killing the mobs, rng is not as nice as a guaranteed drop. Theres way more of a point in running by all of that time wasting, trust me it's much faster as i've done that basically for the last 100 strikes i've done.

    • I feel you but it really is a matter of play style. Don't complain though, instead maybe start a thread asking for players with a similar play style to get together with you to run these strikes. Personally I don't mind killing everything on the map if that's what ya want to do. Add me on PSN Toecttr I'll run with you

    • Perhaps destiny needs something called communication A lot of other games out there have it apparently. Hopefully this will be fixed for destiny 2 if anyone's still interested by then

      • Skipping open world segments of a strike doesn't bother me. It's when only a locked door stops people, that is a problem. I signed up to play a strike, not just the "important parts". Conversely, I didn't use the matchmaking system to help strangers collect Olympus tears from patrol mobs. Spawn restricted areas should not be skipped, imo.

      • I run though strikes. If people leave or they stay and fight everyone is up to them. To each their own, lol. I don't even stay for the rewards, I leave when I get the marks and rep. I have everything I need right now except for raid gear. This isn't a comment to protect supremacy, just one providing a different perspective. I don't think it's the right or wrong way, just how I choose to play, happy hunting.

Assemble a fire team of gamers that fit the way you like to play the game. If you use matchmaking your just going to have to adapt to playing the game with random people that may enjoy playing the video game differently than you.

      • I don't have that much of a problem with speed running...more than the idiots that do so and get to a point that they can't handle enemies and end up dying. Everytime they do that, the "hard wipe" screen comes on, and IIRC, that actually effects the rewards you get.

      • I hate that a lot sometimes I'm not in a rush and others on the other hand just speed through the thing and if it's a slay them all mission and they speed through and PROBOBLY bring them over to an alive boss or a boss you have to summon

I agree with the others here - once you're familiar with the strikes, you don't need to shoot everything in between the major areas, only those in the darkness zones. Those zones are generally the most important areas (though there is an occasional outdoor enemy that needs defeating), but the rest are mostly the common patrol areas

And thats why you have to have a fire team in weekly heroic strikes and raids

          • This has probably been the cool thing to do since everyone's completed the same half-dozen maps a few dozen times and really can't be bothered with the trash anymore, since everything everywhere drops equal chance at loot, but only completion gets you a guaranteed reward and some rep and marks. (Though patrols/events are a much faster way to get rep/marks.) If you don't wanna keep up, you should probably only run with a fireteam of people who you know what to play at the same pace. Or just I dunno, get booted for not keeping up and helping out with the actual events thanks to your OCD insistence on clearing trash that doesn't actually follow you through to the main combat areas. *shrug*

            • If they run to far ahead they will actually get the whole party wiped. The Mar strike does this if they make it to the tank before you get to the Leutinent guys

            • Because when you've grinder through the same spot a few hundred time you get sick and tired of it and whether or not you think it shaved time off strikes it makes it feel like it does. Don't be mad at the players for not playing a game they way it was meant, get mad at bungie for designing there game to be mind numbing.

            • The "strike" doesn't being until you hit the restricted respawning zone- evidenced by the fact that in those beginning areas, there are often players running around who are not on your fireteam- once you cross that threshold, and it is just the three of you, then the strike has started- I join a playist to complete a strike, not run around in the open area before it killing enemies that do not help me acheive my goal- if you want to take your time and kill the enemies in the non-strike area, either get left behind and deal with it or go play patrol

              • Well when you have to get 25 strikes out of the way, you tend to rush through them. Also it waaaaay faster to run through, so I don't see what you mean by it taking longer. Enemies drop agro after chasing for a small amount of time. Case in point: The Summoning Pits (Phogoth) can be done in 8 minutes if you run right through. 15 - 20 minutes if you kill everything.

              • imo if u juz want to kill all the bad guys hit up the patrol , i guess u can say iam a runner, i run to the restricted area, thats were the strike is were the magic happens not gonna waste time on patrol bad guys , the quicker u run a strike the quicker u can do the next one , i did like 4 strikes in a row, each one the whole fireteam or matchmakeing team including myself ran past the trash mob, each strike, by the end of the my strike fest i ended up with at least 15 blue to encrypt , and not one of those were found killin the trash mob all were found in the restriced area

              • I always blow past trash mob enemies. When I hit the little clearing way between I'll stop and look back to see if my team got the idea. If they did, great, smart people keep up, cool, good players move on bad players get left in the trash. If the whole team is wading through I'll lay down fire and get the mob's attention from the enemy's six. It's called flanking. Also, matchmaking is mandatory. If you don't have a fire team ahead of launching, you get match made. Don't complain that some of us are quicker/smarter. Keep up or go to patrol.

                • The enemies that are either part of a wave process, no respawn or the boss are the only ones that need to be killed. Otherwise it's just the same as patrol which for most people is a waste of time. Plus they may have bounties requiring them to do a lot of strikes.

                • no... it takes much longer fighting everything... most missions can be done in 10 mins... most strikes 10 to 20 min.... fight everything and either can be 30 min to an hour.... not to mention you get no worthwhile reward for fighting everything.

So apparently running through 50 enemies that aren't even necessary to kill doesn't save time? I'm not gonna start The Devils Lair and clear out the whole -blam!-ing Rocket Yard that is filled with lvl 8's just to get inside to the objective. If you don't need to kill the enemies, why not just run through? It does save A LOT of time. The enemies don't chase you either, so whats the problem? Do you want to spend an hour doing 1 strike? I sure as hell don't.

                  • You have to realize people are running strikes for only a couple of reasons. Period. Marks, crypto engram (24), rep, bounty requirements. That's about it. So, if you get all of those things for completing the strike, and not killing every blip on the radar, then it makes sense to be efficient about doing it. It's about efficient use of your time. Honestly if you want to kill trash mobs don't play strikes on random matchmaking lists. Party up. Sure, you could kill everything in the cosmodrome on the way to Sepkis, but why bother? You could be dropping the laser grid in the first 30 seconds and working towards completion. Round trip Sepkis should be about 15 minutes. Any longer and you're doing it all wrong. Just saying. Final word: get the bad juju exotic bounty. One of the requirements is to complete 25 strikes. It's all about completion, thus efficiency, vice perfection. I can see your frustration. Just understand that this is waaaaay better than the turds that hangout at the start, never move, and let others complete the strike for them. Just saying. Pick your battles.

                    • "Matchmaking is for people wanting to play the strike". I dont think I recall one single strike where the goal is to annihilate an opposing army. They all have as their stated goal to kill the monster at the end. So that is how I play the strike, get to the target as fast as possible and take it out. IMHO if anyone is to blame it is those who stick around to mess with irellevant grunts while their mates attack the real target. What do you think gives the best rewards, 4 fast strikes or 2 slow with every grunt killed?
