The winds blow across the ruins of old russia, carrying sand into the air. Two silent guardians, a hunter and a titan, stand on an inclined rock, aiming at a small cave. Suddenly gunfire cracks through the air as both of the guardians send bullets flying towards the cave. Shrieks of death and anguish can be heard from its entrance, then it returns to silence. Moments later, the guardians open fire on the cave again. More screams of death and anguish follow. This repeats for several minutes, then they both run into the cave and pick up the glowing artifacts. After picking up all the loot, they return to the rock and wait. The process repeats....more gunfire, more death, more loot. The morning turns into after noon, and then it bleeds into the evening. After hours and hours ofrepeating the process, the hunter puts down his gun and shakes his head. He turns towards the Titan and hails him via radio. He waits for the Titan to answer his call. Finally, the titan answers. Titan: Hey. What's up? Hunter: Why are we doing this Titan: What do you mean? Hunter: Why are we shooting at a cave? Titan: Uhh.....because it's an easy way to get loot. Hunter: Yeah, but come on man. Is this all there is to this world? Titan: Do you have a problem with it? Hunter: Well.........no....maybe........yes...sort of. Titan: Care to explain? Hunter: I died many many many years ago. To be honest, I don't even remember my past life, I don't even know my own name. But when my ghost revived me, I was offered a second chance. I was told I would could explore and retake our worlds, I was promised I would become legend. But ever since I woke up in that field of cars next to the wall...I have no idea what the hell I am doing or what the darkness is. The speaker won't answer any of my questions and all my ghost does is trip alarms whenever I try to.... Titan: Wait......you said you were revived in a car field? Hunter: Yeah..... Titan: My ghost revived me in a car field. It was also next to the wall. One moment I'm dead, next moment I'm running towards the wall and fighting fallen. Hunter: Wow.....that's really strange....... Titan:...................... Hunter: ............................................... *they both fire at the cave again. Hunter: As I was saying, all my ghost ever does is get me into trouble. And not only that, but the vanguard promised me rewards for my exploits......and so far I have received a few crystals and a cloak. And the cryptarch, don't get me started on him. I brought back a schematic for a kickass sniper rifle and had him decode it. Guess what he turned it into? Titan: A sniper rifle? Hunter: He turned it into a -blam!-ing sock. A SOCK!!!! I defeated sepiks prime BY MYSELF for that. I was thrilled to see the blue orb drop........boy was I naive. Titan: Wow.... Hunter: Anyway, back to my original question. Why are we here? It seems like all everybody does since they've been revived is stand on this rock and shoot at a cave all day. It's all I've ever been doing since I came back from the Black Garden. Every day I get up, have my ship drop me off, then I hop on my sparrow, fight some fallen and hive, and then I come here and wait....and shoot. It's ridiculous, it's mind-numbing, and it makes me hate life. But I HAVE TO DO IT if I want to become powerful enough to venture into the mysterious Vault of Glass. You know what's worse? Sometimes I see up to 6 people here, standing and shooting at this same cave. What is it all for? Titan: I'm here for the loot. Hunter: ................... *both continue to shoot at the cave* Hunter: You know what I think? Titan: What? Hunter: I think we are both dead, but we are in hell. Titan: That's ridiculous. Hunter: Is it? First we died, then we are revived and asked to fight some mysterious darkness. We are made promises of grandiosity....but so far I feel like I'm reliving the same missions over and over again, in hopes that they would go differently.....or that I would find something new. Titan: That's all in your head. Hunter: That's not all. Sometimes I see a beautiful landscape in the distance, but when I try to travel there, some mysterious force stops me. It's as if the universe were designed to torment me by showing what I can't have, by restricting me to this one area. It's like an invisible cage that us guardians are trapped in. I just want to end my misery.....BUT I CAN'T! Every time I try to commit suicide, my ghost brings me back to life. THAT'S why I think we are in hell....we aren't allowed to end our suffering. Titan: I think you should shut your mouth. I think this is a wonderful world and I am glad to be alive. There are so many things to see and to do. Hunter: Such as what? Titan: Well...................you can do......patrol missions.......you can do bounties......and participate in the crucible.......... Hunter: Why aren't you doing that then instead of standing here and shooting at a cave all day? Titan: Well..................because..................................................I...............it is rewarding............and......... The titan breaks down and cries. Titan: YOU'RE RIGHT.....THIS IS POINTLESS!!!!! I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHY I BOTHER!!!! OH WAIT, I KNOW WHY, BECAUSE THIS IS THE FASTEST WAY TO GET INTO THE VAULT OF GLASS!!!!!!!!! This is pathetic.......the highlight of my new life is standing here....and shooting at the cave................... Hunter: This is the only thing we have to live for...........yet to do it is to have no life........ The titan continues to sob. Hunter: Hey......is it just me, or has it been a while since we hive come out of there? Titan:............*sniff*...........I haven't seen any come out of there in 15 minutes. A distant humming can be heard. Suddenly a sparrow launches over the rock. A warlock hops off of it and hails the Titan and the Hunter. "Hey guys!" the voice of a child says "Have you heard? Loot harvesting locations all over our system stopped working about 15 minutes ago!!! IT'S TERRIBLE!!!!!" Titan and Hunter: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
