Xbox One Bug: The Life Exotic
I have had an exotic piece of equipment for a while now (since the NPC last weekend), and I have not gotten this achievement.
I have tried to store my exotic items in the vault (also have an exotic machine gun) and then grabbing them back and equipping, but still no achievement.
Kind of bugging me that I have two exotic items, and yet I cannot get the achievement for it.

I tried the fixes (suggested by always and sean) and it worked for the acheivement "excessive force" but not "suited for war". EDIT: After turning off my xbox and coming back a couple hours later, I signed into destiny and recieved both "suited for war" and "giant slayer." Not sure if it is a destiny or xbox issue.
