Oh, look... a sensible post. Haven't seen one of these since the last time I posted a poll XD. "There are a lot of flaws, but it's still fun" gets my vote. I've been trying to support Destiny and Bungie with money and good word of mouth since I heard about it. I've even been trying to encourage people to trust Bungie. Admittedly, it's harder and harder everyday. Bungie keeps up a shroud that makes any decision to support them an exercise in faith. I can't reasonably keep encouraging people to trust them when they ignore so many concerns of the community. And don't address the doubts that people have. Perhaps they're handling it in the best way possible. Perhaps not. For now... all I can do is to trust them; and for now I do. They haven't done anything to outright ruin my faith. If they flop this game and community, then they have one chance to keep my trust by addressing it and proving their competence in their next project. But I still trust that they will listen to the community, and support this game for years to come. The core of the game is excellent. All the mechanics are solid, and the systems are well designed. But they need a lot of adjustments. And my main complaint is the lack of content. A lot of people say that those of us complaining about content are something akin to "no-lifes". And frankly, per some peoples values, I and others probably are. But regardless of anyones values, the "no-lifes" are the key to the long term success of Destiny. Bungie needs people that get on every day; that grind out the best gear; that are the first to find and report bugs; and to help balance out the systems. And most importantly, to populate the game world; and to be the bad-donkeys that they want the rest of the community to aspire to. I've logged a bunch of hours in this game. And loved every one of them! Each hour was filled with fun, solid gameplay. I've got around 80 hours. Problem is... I'm the type who usually gets hundreds. CoD: WaW- 24 days of play time. Terraria- 800 hours Minecraft- thousands of hours Battlefield BC 2- 800 hours Guitar Hero- hundreds of hours Skyrim- 700 hours Halo Series- thousands of hours and countless other games, of all genres, with similar play times. So if I'm only getting 70 hours out of Destiny at launch... that doesn't bode well for the length of time the average Joe will want to put into it. But I trust Bungie not to let me down. I trust Bungie to satiate my hunger for their unique style of games. And to make me another fantastic franchise. Fingers crossed they don't -BLAM!- up. XD

 • I certainly can empathize with the thought. However, being ignorant of game development, I can't see how it can be solely the publishers fault. Indeed, surely the fault would fall on both... the publisher for their demands and the developers for compromising the quality of the game. I say this because I believe that it takes two to tango. When starting up a nightfall strike with friends, I often say "alright guys let's go. And remember, it takes three to die." But I have no idea of the inner workings of game development. And being that the publisher holds the purse... I could equally see it being almost entirely their fault.

 • What kind of content do you think is necessary to engage gamers such as yourself while at the same time appealing to the more "average Joe" types? What would be an acceptable timeline for them to include the content?

 • That is a question you'll have to give me some time to think on. If your willing to wait a bit, I can get back to you with something resembling an answer. But I should emphasize... I am young, ignorant, and far from a game developer. The only experience I have is the many years I've spent gaming; and even that pales in comparison to the senior gamers I often talk to on here. I complain about content because that is what I know is lacking for me. But telling you why and how to fix it will take some deeper thought. And I may not be able to know for sure. But I'll put some thought on it.

 • Well it doesn't have to be deep or heavily involved. Just your preference. For example, maybe personal content for you character such as having specific class/race/faction missions. Perhaps missions that required stealth and for you to avoid combat. These missions would also fill in a lot if the story.

 • Well I certainly appreciate that you aren't asking for something deep. But, perhaps unfortunately, one of my character traits is that I value peoples thoughts very highly; above most everything else. So I can't give an undeveloped thought. That said, I have given it some thought and analyzing my current state in the game... I may have a satisfactory answer. I should start by analyzing why I play games. And in my case, I look for progression and intricate mechanics. I get bored when my progression is halted and a mastery of the mechanics is achieved. Currently, I'm a 28 hunter. Being that I value progression and mechanics, let's look at what options I have along those two paths. Progression: -I've completely unlocked both hunter classes. Leaving me with level progression and gear progression. -Level progression doesn't go much further, additionally the only way for me to level up is to find ascendant shards or acquire raid gear. -Due to my own limitations, I can't do the raid. Making gear progression a non-option for me. -To acquire shards I need to get them as a reward for the daily heroic or dismantle legendary armour. This limits my activities to strikes and daily missions. As well as getting lucky when patrolling or maybe PvP matches. -The strikes and missions available to me are the ones I have already done dozens of times each. I feel that the negative effects of repetition are apparent so I won't detail that any further. So my progression has been halted. Mechanics: -The vast majority of the mechanics are mastered upon reaching a high level with one character. The only mechanics I've yet to master are the class specifics: mobility powers, supers, and melee abilities. -Thus the number of mechanics yet to be mastered is few. And the depth of each has been significantly reduced by my mastery of the basic concept of how mobility, supers, and melee abilities work in Destiny. So there are few novel mechanics left to learn. My solution: -Widen the options for progression. Don't base my level progression on my ability to find shards or repeatedly run a raid. Offer me other options. Perhaps the ability to level based on reputation ranks, missions completed, enemies killed, items found, etc... Any variety to high level progression would help. -Mechanically, I feel the game has enough mechanical depth. Mechanics can't be so easily altered as progression. Being the core of the game, once a game has released it's very difficult to alter mechanics in significant ways. They do have to option of introducing new mechanics however. With the release of expansions and the special events, they have to ability to introduce new mechanics constantly. -Add in new types of bounties and public events. Increase the variety of patrol missions. These both seem relatively cheap and easy to add, while mixing up the game experience in interesting ways at a fairly constant pace. I think that some added variety to the content and mechanics already present in the game is something that can appeal to all of us in the community. With timeframes varying from things that could be implemented in weeks, to things implemented over years. This would add some spice to the game, and at a controlled rate to keep us "no-lifes" from gobbling it up and getting bored. XD

 • I think those ideas would work. What do you think of adding a procedural randomizer to strikes, so they don't feel the exact same?

 • Having no understanding of Destiny code... I think it would be incredibly helpful. The problem with live generation is the quality of the content. In order to generate a different experience, you have to generalize elements of the game. Which may ultimately hurt it more than help. Additionally, Bungie is a huge fan of crafted experiences. So generation of any sort conflicts with their style. However, I think some randomization in the enemies that spawn, the weapons they use, and perhaps some small generation with a few different abilities for each boss would be hugely helpful. As of now, I can practically guarantee when, where, what, and with what I will be attacked in every part of every strike.

 • Very true. That may be a much simpler and faster way to add some randomness to the strikes.
