I know it's a little early to say, but seeing the way Bungie and Destiny's story is headed, I highly doubt they can modify the story to fit their unnecessarily long 10 year timeline (and keep people entertained) for the Destiny series. It's only the first month and I feel there is too little and way too late. This whole, "We'll implement story (for free - kinda) later" DOES NOT WORK if you haven't even set the bare necessity of story in the first month of launch. I would've been okay with that whole mentality if it had a good story already and only added on to it with cool plot lines later, but at this point I understand nothing of the game, and I highly doubt there's anything more I can do but cough up another $60 for Destiny 2 in two years in hopes of actually getting something discernible this time.
Going off of that, how are they going to make the vital changes to the story that enriches the lore, like we want it to be, in only TWO years?! Two years is probably enough time to make a few more strikes and raids for people to repeat over and over and over again, and add a new picture on the box cover.
I just don't understand. I've been playing Halo since I was a kid with it's story being so encapsulating, and so well done. When I play Destiny, I see nothing in terms of story development. Your guys's thoughts?

I have lost hope for this version, but look forward to Destiny 2. Maybe then Bungie will get their act together.

HALO MASTER CHIEF COLLECTION IN 40 DAYS
-
i know this much for sure....i will NOT be pre ordering anything from bungie ever again....i will wait and read reviews
-
My hope for destiny 2 is very similar to how Assassins Creed 2 was. The first AC had a good baseline story buy my God was it repetitive! Everything about each target was practically the same. Then the AC2 came out and blew the first out of the water in every aspect. Bungie has the core gameplay pretty spot on. All they need to do is enrich it (a lot) and add a lot of variety and they will have a spectacular game.
-
Time will tell. If Destiny can get it's act together before long, then I'm sure fans will want Destiny 2. Even if it doesn't, there are people who will go for a sequel simply because it's a sequel... As for me, Bungie has til Massive releases The Division. After that, Destiny may be an afterthought to me... Or Bungie will have impressed me enough to keep playing.

I don't think there is any way Destiny 2 will ever be made. This game will have a short life span and the project will be abandoned. ActiVision published this game because it was the biggest threat to call of duty. They rushed the project, made Bungie cut 2/3 of the content to purposely have it fail. Well played ActiVision.

With what we started with and how things are slowly being handled... Destiny 2 wont be a thing, but Bungie will likely team up with a better production company to make something with the knowledge they gain from this 60$ test.

I LOVE destiny

I actually think the story is fine right now, yes I would have preferred a bit more depth, and that the grimoire cards be in the game. In idk the big -blam!-ing archive we find on Venus, but whatever. IMO the elements for a great story were provided. There's a lot of questions opened up with no answers about anything, giving them plenty of room to expand and grow the lore. I have tons if hope for this game. But that doesn't mean a damn thing unless bungie and activision get their shit straight.
-
I definitely won't be pre-ordering next time around. I think Bungie is completely out of touch with what people actually want in a game.
-
Edited by RebornV3: 10/2/2014 11:22:58 PMI really think Bungie messed up with lack of story there is so much in this game that wasn't explained or even elaborated on in the slightest even Destiny 2&3 will still have to be explaining stuff we should have known by the end of Destiny Bungies best bet is to say this Destiny was a Vex Simulation and that nothing in this game actually happened and release Destiny 2 the game that we were showed in early 2013
-
actually i do because they dipped their foot in the water now they can jump in and go balls to the walls for the next one
-
... 2 years? you realize. that this game. has a plan for 10 years... right? its like an mmo. ever expanding.
-
Who cares about a story lol? I want more loot with resistances and different modifiers. I want more raids, higher level strikes. More worlds and moons. 70 more light levels worth of gear. Higher level than exotic gear... Set gear... I want I want I want. Gaming industries don't need to meet our needs to fill their pockets.
-
IN GAME GRIMOIRE SYSTEM..its already designed and the information is there...it's just online rather than ingame. That'd be the easiest way to salvage all the damage Bungie has done to its name.
-
Well since there wasn't much of a story they don't really have to do much to fix it except actually adding one. Hopefully since they won't have the old consoles setting the limits for the size of the maps we may eventually get some the size of skyrim...I won't hold my breath and say maybe it'll be as big as Witcher 3...maybe we can get some the size of gravity San Andreas Who am I kidding well just get more of the same which is sad cuz I had fun playing destiny even tho it was disappointing in some ways like loot and story. But at least it wasn't as bad as dragon age 2 now that had no redeeming qualities. Destiny at least has that rewarding pop as you shoot cabal in the head
-
Wtf? Who needs a story, big games like halo, WOW, cod, etc all had shitty stories, i need items raids weapons more levels strikes more pvp options etc.
-
I think they can make it better at this point the game can only get better.....I hope
-
I don't know about you, but I don't think that I appreciated the story of Halo CE until the Haloverse was more fleshed out through the release of later games and the release of the novels.

-
I do :)
-
I used to have hope. But that was before 404Architect spoke up. Unless Joe Staten comes back, I have no hope for Destiny's storyline. Bye guys, ima run my ritual Christmas Halo: Combat Evolved play through a few months early.
-
does anyone really have hope for Destiny 2?
Yes. Next!

Edited by Scithe: 10/6/2014 1:38:35 AMOh trust me there's plenty they can do. We've only expiernced a fragment of the whole thing (who says there cant be a pre-qual) where we play during the fall of the golden age, and this "great battle the speaker talks about"
-
I do. Shortsightedness seems to run rampant in these forums. All the complainers seem to forget about bungie's incredibly strong history. This game has an amazing foundation and it will continue to get better. By the time destiny 2 arrives, I bet we'll be looking at an unbelievable game world with more variety and complexity then you can imagine. Bungie will not disappoint.

Edited by ELRaSun: 10/6/2014 1:35:31 AMDestiny 2? Lol, I think we have to wait to see what pans out with this one, over the next 6 - 12 months at least.
