Shadow of Mordor released on Tuesday and has a 10 hour campaign, and is scoring high. People are raving about the Nemesis system, yet some reviewers are citing it as "repetitive". Ring any bells? These are all subjective opinions. There's no right or wrong, only what we think. Seriously, folks. Everything is relative. Measure your time played vs price paid. Did you get the game for less than a dollar an hour? If so, it's a bargain. This reminds me of an irate customer who buys a sandwich, and returns only the crust, saying "That was terrible...I want my money back". As I've said before, if you want to see changes, voice your complaints along with those of us who love the game but still recognize its flaws. Bungie can either address them, or run the risk of seeing the player base drift away. But I know for a fact they're not going to come here and get into a tug of war discussion with fans. Those things never end well.

  • You're missing the point a bit- People are complaining about this particular business practice. Other games have done it, yeah, but those games met the same hate. 2K had it with bioshock (people just hacked the content open and 2K lots tons of money). Capcom did it and it ruined their prestige as a developer. Mass Effect 3 did it and it killed the entire franchise. It's a horrible business model, and people should react this way to it, in order to keep it from becoming common. It's merely being a vocal and informed customer base that keeps the industry in check.

  • So? You could complete Destiny's story within two hours.

  • I disagree. Anyone who didn't play the beta, and went in for the first time, would easily spend 25 hours exploring and looting, not to mention playing the strikes that were part of the "story". And if they didn't spend that amount of time, then they were missing out on a lot.

  • Strikes and patrol mode aren't part of the story. The story literally can be completed within 2 hours.

If you do a freaking speed run and shoot absolutely nothing you don't have to then sure. But that's just about every shooter ever. But seriously, the average player playing the game and killing everything and searching caves and doorways, playing the game the way it was designed will most likely be close to 20 hours give or take of gameplay when they beat
The Black Garden
All that being said, I still think the story was too short! 10 cut scenes for a game that was supposed to be this epic space adventure and launch a franchise to rival Halo? It's a joke, it's obvious that something happened internally and the story got gutted so they could meet Activision's demands of the release date.

  • No. The story is literally 2-3 hours long.

I was referring to reasonable playtime to actually see the story. You can NOT see the whole story in 2-3 hours unless you intentionally do a speed run and kill nothing except the enemies you must to trigger a checkpoint. Stop being a thick headed troll.

  • When you said that just now, I was picturing "grumpy cat" in my head. In any case, obviously we have differing views on how to define "story" in a game. Skyrim's main quest could be completed in maybe 25 hours, but the experience itself was more like 300 for serious players.
