Have you ever played an MMO before, because that is how MMO's work. The constant grind for better gear...

  • Most MMOs have matchmaking/dungeon finder/dontneedtohavefriends system. It's not the grind that's the problem, it's the fact that there's no easy access to the raid without either getting together 5 of your friends/coworkers/frenemies or posting on the forums to hopefully find a decent group. Pretty sure we all know Bungie has an identity crisis right now, mmo or not.

  • I had 0 friends to raid with until I downloaded this app. Now I have plenty of friends in my console to raid with and have already been through it twice. It might be a hassle, but I would much rather do it through the forum then have a matchmaking game be a busy because no one knows what to do or have no mic to communicate what is going on. You could compare a strike to a dungeon in WOW, however even in WOW to successfully complete a raid you need to be part of a guild otherwise it would be a constant wipe.

  • But MMO's typically have more 'game' to grind. Don't get me wrong, I'm enjoying the game, but you could probably see the vast majority of this games content in 20 hours (minus the raid), yet it takes 5 or 6 times that to completely level up your character. That's a lot of repetition and I can see why a lot of people aren't happy with it.

  • However this is a 10 year game that has only been out for 3 weeks. There will be plenty more content to come. Especially since every week or two they have a special event to help you get gear like queens wrath or iron banner. Plus you can get decked out in legendarily if you lvl up your vanguard/crucible rank.

  • Queens Wrath isn't really new content. It's just the same content we already had. Hopefully there's more planned than just re-skinned content.

  • However, queens wrath was a quick fix for everyone complaining about not being able to get legendaries. Which is not hard at all.

  • Bungie said it isn't an MMO.

  • It's not an mmo. It's an fps with rpg and mmo traits.

  • So, would that not explain the MMO style of obtaining better gear?

  • You mean rpg style of obtaining gear. Farming is a trait of an rpg game, always has been. MMO simply means a game with massive server space for players. Destiny is, again, an FPS with RPG and MMO traits, and only a few slight traits at that.

  • I have not once farmed for gear. Only farmed materials to upgrade the gear I obtained through strikes, raids, or crucible/vanguard. Farming for gear is possible but I see no point as it would take double the time than if you just played the content available.

  • I just feel that people need to give the game a bit more time before they rage about every goddamn thing. Of course there are going to be kinks to fix as every other game has when it first comes out. However, if you don't like the content available then quit playing.

  • Take your ignorance somewhere else. You obviously still fail to look at my stats before. Words fall from your mouth like shlt from a$$.

  • No need for name calling sir. Simply stating my opinion. Your stats don't matter to me. Nor would it change my opinion.

  • I dont think farming is an rpg trait. Its more prevalent in arpg ie diablo titan quest grim dawn. I never farmed in dungeon siege or kotr baldurs gate or icewind dale kingdom if amular. Farming is definetly more of an mmo trait that came out with subscription based games or indepth crafting to create a long term rewarding time sink. Also in any rpg game where farming for loot is done the gear is awesome. It can give you abilities or modifiers that make you feel awesome. Kind of like exotics but o wait i can only have 1. Honestly i have no idea how you could create an rpg game that makes you feel like god around an fps that has to be balanced for pvp. I think the current game set is wrong but id be willing to test another. I think its a great idea trying to mix these genres a little but i feel bungie compromised in the wrong areas. It doesnt have enough diversity in pvp to last long there when you normalize things. You unlocked higher levels in cod and bf for diversity and advantages. Exotics provide this but you are gimped there. Most of the reading of done about this game has led me to believe that most people arent complaing about the game but what marketing and corprate greed have done to it. If you make a great game i am more than willing to throw money to support the developers. Also the gaming community as a whole is more than willing to support creativity as is evident in kickstarters but this is more pc based. Also people keep throwing around this 500 million dollar budget. Good god thata huge and should cover enough for anything, i cant help but agree with this line of thought. I understand the company is trying to make back that money through dlc but how much of it was truwly bungie/activision money? I think a fairly large chunk was subsidized by playstation exclusivity and by both microsoft and sony to promote people to buy next gen consoles. Also, all the little things in destiny require play station plus which is a huge push towards a more subscription online experience like xbox live. I feel that this incorporation of playstation plus was also a bargaining chip for more developement money from sony. I feel that the reviews of this game are just as much a critique of the path of gaming industries. Maybe bungie was specifically chosen to see how far the corprate envelope could be pushed because of their large fan base and the game doesnt even matter at all. Well i guess ill get off the soap box now.
