I've taken to keeping them on-hand, then equipping them before turning in bounties. One bounty, and its XP is maxed. Seems to result in more parts when I shard them.
Not that I have any use for the parts...just gives me something to do with them.
I will say, being able to trade the parts for ascendant materials would absolutely make my day. I don't know that trading them for XP or marks is particularly useful--hitting the cap for marks is easy enough. And since you can only equip one heroic armor and weapon, once you've got that, strange coins become less useful. Ascendant materials, however, are long-term useful. I realize having multiple heroic gear is equally useful, but in my experience, acquiring the gear is easier than upgrading it. YMMV.

Keep un-leveled weapons/armor I don't use, then equip for turning in bounties, use parts for upgrades, then break them down once complete. It's doable but would be tedious. It is a solution though. Totally would work for the 6+ Queens Armor sets. Thanks for the idea!
