I think we can all agree that there are certainly SOME game companies out there that strive to squeeze every penny out of their product at great expense to the gamer. And there SOME game companies who take pages from that book, and do a moderate amount of squeezing themselves. I agree with those of you who say "You get what they give you". When you buy a game, you're not buying the game, you're buying a license to use that game in a way that conforms to the license agreement. You own the disc, and you own a license, but you don't own the content on the disc. So what is or isn't there is irrelevant. I also agree with those of you who say "Game companies use DLC to raid our wallets". SOME anyways. I personally miss the days when, if a company developed further content for a game, that content was substantial enough to put on a disc and ship to game stores for purchase. The fact that DLC carries with it little to no publishing costs, and can be done several, even dozens, of times, leaves a lot of opportunity for companies to maximize the profit margin on every little bit of content, but it also leaves a lot of opportunity to maximize on quality. As with most things, there is no perfect solution. But, even if you disagree with the poster, it's important that we keep companies on their toes.

  • So far, I think the Destiny DLC is not the "squeezing" type. Now, if they start offering us the ability to purchase in-game currency with our own real-world currency, then the squeezing has begun. If they start offering "short cut kits" ala BF4, then not only are they squeezing us, but they are rewarding laziness. I personally don't like the current weekly limits on earning things like glimmer and marks, but if they don't raise those limits and then begin selling packs of "x" marks for "x" $ that allow you to exceed those limits, then that's where, as a consumer and gamer, I feel like they've crossed the line from offering us true content for $ to just squeezing us for $.

  • Indeed, I don't think any lines have been crossed as of now.
