It seems I'm having a very different experience with the game than most...
I'm a software developer in my 30s. I work all day, come home, hit the gym or go for a bike ride, make dinner, and take care of the dog. After dinner, I boot up the PS4, create a party with 4 to 6 of my friends... work friends, childhood friends, friends I've just met... We hop in a PS4 party, then we all load up the game. We battle through all of the game's missions together. We take on the strikes. We take on the queens wrath missions. We're working on building up our light levels. We do patrols and bounties, and we all enter the Crucible together.
I am having an absolute blast playing Destiny with my friends. Maybe the difference is that I have a dedicated set of friends whom I can play the game with that make it so much fun, but reading through this board is very interesting to me. It seems that many of the people writing here are having a very different experience than I am having. Is it simply because I'm playing with my friends that I find what the developers at Bungie have given us so entertaining?

So far I have gotten >50 hours of pure fun and excitement out of this game that it is totally worth its money.

Most critics if not all, agree with a resounding yes to the fun part . But it still needs a major overhaul since there is a large room for improvments .

I enjoy Destiny but will never purchase another Bungie game again nor dlc for this. It's far greater than liking or disliking a game, company or franchise. I've been a Halo fan from the beginning but the blatant disregard and lies to their fans and the consumers is apparent, the storm that's hitting them is swift and we all saw it coming with what they released. The proceedings that follow will be very telling of the videogame industry as a whole.

Nah, you're having the same experience as the majority. It's only the vocal minority who come to the forums to whine and complain. I'm loving Destiny.

I like your thread man, I also made new friends on patroling and on tower, we do not talk really except some PS messages ( wishing chat windows but through the app worked well too except some delays and refresh not working ^^) . I have high hopes for this game in the next updates and DLC , and i really wish the adventure to go on more exciting. Have a nice day.

Arnt all games fun when played with friends...? Once you reach a certain level (im 28) the game becomes very repetetive and boring. Same old same old. We try to play pvp but it just isnt fun enough to keep us occupied once weve done the pvp bounties. Id rate this game 8/10 when we was still leveling up and playing kind of fresh content.. now id rate it no more than a 5. Makes me wonder how it was in development for so long for a game that lasted 3 weeks of gaming.

I'm really enjoying it too...despite my reservations which are similar to all the other bitching, I find I LIKE the 'almost untold story' going on and hope for more.

It's not just you. I'm having loads of fun too. I also have friends that I play with, but whenever they are not on, I still sign in and do some bounties, missions, etc. It's all fun to me. But it does seem to go up a notch or two with friends. We can all laugh and cut up at certain situations.

This is an enjoyable game to many, including myself. The haters and general populace of morons tend to post negativity on the forums.

I'm also having a blast with Destiny. I don't usually play a game at/or near launch so it's much more fun and enjoyable to be learning it along with my friends. I'm not the best at FPS, but I'm still having a lot of fun and I'm excited to see how things progress. I also don't mind the difficulty of getting gear and weaponry so much because it's always like that in other MMOs. Happy hunting Guardians!

me an my friends are LOVING the game think i even made 20 new friends to boot an we have a blast every day, 1st game in a few years that i would spend 5+ hours a day on and kind of let my life slip lol (it's cool tho i can always get it back on track). The main reason I think there is so much hate is everyone from COD is here because there is NOTHING!! else out or all there friends are here an they are mad. I am sure as soon as the new call of duty is out the hate buses will roll out an the game will be more friendly.

Its your attitude, I'm loving it as well. I've reconnected with old friends because of this game. Most people on here sound so miserable, I'm considering leaving the boards.

Cool to see that you have fun, but Iam having the oposite feeling. Since I dont have real life friends that even own a PS4 I hardly can enjoy it same way as you do. And looking for "forced" friends is not really my thing eighter. Iam sort of a dedicated lonewolf gamer and i hate beyond believe befriending random ppl for certain strikes I need, etc.

Nice post. I have about 8-10 friends that I usually play with and none of us complain about having nothing to do. I'm level 29, I can't do anything without raid gear. I'll probably start another character. #NoComplaints

7 Repliesthe reason everyone is so pissed off is because the great game we all saw and paid for, was torn apart in the last year of dev and then pieced back together as an okay game with no warning. we were expecting an epic space mmorpgfps with amazing voice acting and a truly imersive story. instead what was sent out to us was probably the most repetitive game of the decade, with whats left of what they salvaged from the original story being chopped up and sold to us as dlc so they can buy time to finish other aspects of the game.

i have just one buddy i sometimes play with so most of the time im solo unless its a strike and i have an absolute blast everytime i play. i understand why some might not feel the same way but i just have so much fun when i play:) im glad youre enjoying it man. if u ever need an extra gun for your fireteam, add me on ps4. im down for whatever. my psn is: bucktoothewok

I agree with you, when I am playing with friends I have a great time, which is turning into an OK time, which soon will be mediocre time! I was doing Tiger Vanguard yesterday with a friend and we got the Venus Priest strike back to back... that goes to show how little content and thought has gone in to it. Like the looting system everything is random, even the story. Just a little thought into some of the processes, making things more accessible via the Tower, being able to look for groups more easily and joining them more easily. It starts to wear you down.

Exactly my issue, work all day but all my friends work different shifts or live in different time zones across the globe. I would like more matchmaking so I don't have to wait for the weekends. That's just my issue.

However I do see a lot of problems with the game, I spend more hours playing than you and so once you've spent them you'll also notice those faults. It's like dating you either live with the mole on your GFs face, get married and have children or you break up because you thought you saw it slowly move across her face.

I'm right there with you. I have a great time playing this game. Very Grindy, yes. A bit repetitive, yes. But I love the crucible and just laying back and slaying aliens is just fun. My buddy and I always find a way to make it fun I guess, I like to progress.

Destiny is exponentially more enjoyable when played with close friends, or brothers, I have found. But I still have fun on my own, mind you, just not as much fun.
