This is unreal. Making us wait until the end of the year and next year, chopping out parts of the game that are clearly already done and just locked behind invisible walls and BS like that.
This is Capcom and the SFxT debacle all over again, just they've hidden it fairly well.
From the looks of everything on these maps, THIS would have been a full, complete game.
This is incredibly despicable Bungie. Especially since you are claiming that the DLC are so called "expansions", what a load of BS.

Just to let you guys know, it's not on the disk!. I bought the digital version on the game and when downloaded it was only about 19gb of memory. I was rather surprised because forza 5 was more than 40gb of memory while destiny is a way bigger game. This is because the biggest part (maps, mission) of the game is stored on servers, that's why you can't play when you're not connected to the internet. Wich means they are probably still working on the upcomming dlc's.

I never had a doubt that it was on the disc. I've seen it before, shady business tactics. I'd rather they just be up front about it and say " We want a hundred dollars for Destiny". That would less insulting.

I should have known. I didn't want to believe it, I wanted to give these guys the benefit of the doubt, but today I see it. Missions, perhaps crucial story elements ripped out of the game at launch to be sold in little dlc bites, or bytes if you prefer. This is why I get no exposition. This is why I get a character to play that exudes as much life and interest as a cardboard box. Sadly the box can't be as interesting as the one in Phantom Pain. This is why I get, '' You have been dead a long time. There is a lot you will not understand.'' '' Ummm...Ok...No worries, dude where's my gun?'' Derp. Or.. '' I don't have time to explain why I don't have time to explain.'' That's code for the transaction has not been completed yet. This is low, even by gaming company standards. To sell a game like this at full price, to sell these gigantic bundles and editions with freaking main content cut out, hundreds and hundreds of dollars...smh Pathetic. And yet these simpletons will still continue to defend it. Even though the [ Cough ] expansions are nothing more then single player story missions played on the same freaking maps that should already have been there. Even though it's obvious so many pieces of story, and cut scenes were ripped out a three year old could spot the holes in the narrative, even though the very thing this game banks on to keep you playing, grinding loot etc. fails miserably. I learned my lesson. Never again. I am just thankful I didn't blow another forty dollars or whatever absurd amount of money they wanted on the season pass, Oh I mean the actual game. Absolutely disgusting. If anyone can't really see what's going on here shame on you, and shame on Bungie/ Activision. I can see the statement already, '' This was a creative decision, not a monetary one. We wanted to maintain and hold the interest of the consumer and Destiny fans with replayability through our vision of telling a long well thought out and interesting story.'' Bullcrap. This is Activisions way of insuring a return on their investment. They either made, enticed, or were on the same page in cutting this game up and selling it in pieces. But it is clear from playing the campaign at launch, and hearing this news now, clear to anyone with half a brain, that this game was edited for the purpose of microtransactions and paid dlc. You want to use the subscription argument go ahead. Problem with that is everyone knows the deal. Everyone knows what time it is, everyone knows up front what they are paying for. This is shady. At the very least the game, and these bundles should have been sold at half the price with the disclaimer of Bungies intentions put up front beforehand. This is how we want to release the game, this is what you have to do later on to bring out it's full story and gameplay potential. They didn't do that, they hid it. But it will not matter because the gaming community has sold out, and will continue to sell out as long as they keep letting these people get away with using slight of hand and word games to justify overpricing of multimedia games and accessories.

and how do you know that this isn't 100% photoshopped and edited BS
-
Is this is actually 100% confirmed proof that there is actually disc locked content or just another YouTuber ranting about speculations and conspiracy's
-
video is old and if you glitched into the dlc spots when the game came out you'd see they were nowere near complete but more like guidelines for bungie to fill in the blanks with the dlc. i believe they put the entire map of each planet on the disk because it was a lot easier to have it all there and done, and just block off the specific parts until they're done adding enemies chests and if they need to expand the level that's already there. if they didnt add the full maps the DLC we all complained about taking too long would've taken even longer.
-
People are working on this content right now at Bungie. It's not finished.
-
Why did they not design the DLC over the time and not cut out anything because the game would be a lot more fun and the there would be more mission
-
You know what i'm willing to bet? I bet that the so called new strike on mars with the vex is where the level was supposed to continue on after you defeat the black garden's heart and you have to fight your way out of there before going to defeat Atheon! Just look at how it's set up!

The official explanation is to save on download time. This somehow also applies to digital versions of the game which increase the download time...... Yeah that sounds likely.
-
Information on the disc stopped long download times for people purchasing the dlc
-
The fact that they don't comment on it tells you everything you need to know.

Edited by Starseid: 10/18/2014 2:33:54 PMEDIT: Just realized someone necro bumped this. Not this again. Learn game development. Read information. This content was planned originally to be in the game but a huge mix up with Joe leaving caused alot of the work to get scrambled. Story changes and stuff. This caused some of those elements to be used as later DLC since it was UNFINISHED at the time of the release and the content that was partially done was left in as a placeholder like many games do for DLC. Only a fraction of the content is there. All games with planned DLC have fractions in the game. It's how it works. It always had. Just now people are super nit picky and are starting to notice it in the game vs 10 years ago when nobody really cared and just enjoyed playing games because they are cool.
-
Well it's so that we don't finish the game in a week so I think it is a good idea
-
Well yeah
-
Half the DLC, is what you already paid for. Your paying, for stuff you already paid for. Running through same parts of the game. Killing things you've already killed before. New raid only has two bosses for loot.
-
Who cares...old topic
-
Umm...has anyone confirmed that those areas are actually DLC and not missions that were cut/will be added later? And also something to consider: My game asked me to reserve 20GBs for it. I'm pretty sure that doesn't include add-ons, which DLC is, and I think I ended up using something like 2 or 3 GBs on install...So where's the rest of that? It's not DLC. It also hasn't been shown yet. Could these "glitched areas" just be content that will be released later, that we won't have to pay for?
-
They will decide how and how they will sell their product. Everyone has the option of stop playing or love the game as it is. I have spent over 100 hours playing the game and I enjoy it a lot. Thats why I play it.
-
Obviously never played an MMO where a lot of content is locked and built on for later dates
-
My only comment is if you are that distraught over a normal thing in a game like this DLC thing you should just go play pong and space invaders. Save us all the head ache.
-
this game has been cut to pieces.this is not the game that was promised to us all
-
HOLY NECRO!

It doesn't matter to me how they put it in there. This topic is pointless.

The thing that annoys me the most is it should have been part of the original game... I should have 3 level 30 characters in a week or so of different classes. Doing crappy level 20 missions and new low level strikes are really expanding the end game!! It won't be long until the raids are being farmed and completed within an hour. End game will be 3 raids... That's supposed to last for the cycle of the game 😭 Where the point in doing nightfall, weeklies etc when it gives you all the same crap anyway! Talk about playing the last level over and over again on a game you have completed... Fact: it has got boring fast and it doesn't look like changing
