Dear Bungie. We don't want your DLC.

EDIT: I wanted to clarify my stance on this a little more and without the use of any blams. I don't have a problem with paid DLC. I actually prefer to the alternatives like microtransactions and monthly subscriptions. Also, as a business owner I understand the need for Bungie to turn a profit. MY problem lies with the fact that this game shipped with SO many known problems that forum goers, reviewers and columnists all voiced their opinion on during the alpha/beta and every one of them seemed to fall on deaf ears. Meanwhile, we get a game that seems unfinished. All those little areas around the worlds that SEEM like they're supposed to go somewhere but end up as a dead end. Well they DO actually go somewhere but for some reason it's been locked away. Presumably for paid DLC. The content is already there but we're going to have to pay to play it. Normally this wouldn't be an issue but the content in Destiny is already painfully short so why did they cut out these much needed areas? My problem is that Bungie seems to be so dead set on churning out additional paid content they they've left a skeleton crew of devs to support the original game. They apparently have no problem with shutting down known exploits or farming areas quite promptly but they can't add a simple skip cutscene button or volume controls? A bunch of people shooting at a black hole isn't hurting my experience. Not being able to hear voice chat over the god forsakenly loud music, communicate with other players in the world easily or not being able to play the higher difficulty content because of the lack of matchmaking however, is. We all really wanted to fall in love with Destiny and were fooled into thinking that we actually might have a chance to mold and create Destiny alongside you with our feedback during the alpha and beta, but it seems that even though you say you thrive on our feedback, you've ignored nearly all of it and that is your biggest crime. ---- Me personally, I've already canceled my "expansion pass" because I can already guess what it will include. The same shitty story revisiting the same areas we've already been to countless times. Hell, some of this DLC we can see shipped with the original game via videos of people glitching into entirely new areas that are simply walled off and you've already stated in previous interviews that your DLC will "Revisit existing areas". -blam!- that. I refuse to spend my money on more or of the same content that can be completed in a couple hours. How about instead you pull your resources off making more shitty content and fixing your existing game. Heres what we would actually pay money for: 1. Voice chat. You'e already said you're "working" on this and want to add it "this year" but this will only be for matchmade activities. We still won't be able to communicate with people in the wild unless we add them to our fireteam which is my next point 2. Fix your busted ass fireteam system I have never seen shit so clunky and -blam!-ed up in my life. I have to return to orbit and come back down at a checkpoint to join a persons fireteam when Im standing RIGHT -blam!-ING NEXT TO THEM!? I have to return to orbit when I want to leave someones fireteam!? WTF We can't talk to people unless were in a fireteam but it takes 20 -blam!-ING MINUTES OF LOAD SCREENS JUST TO DO SO And why can't I see who the -blam!- is in my fireteam unless I go to the Roster screen? UGH 3. Fix the -blam!-ing dpad into something usable Jesus H Christ. 4 buttons for emotes is unbelievable to me. Why not create a way for players to communicate with each other with simple hand gestures and other callouts like we suggested in the alpha and beta. We have to -blam!-ing spaz out with waving and point just to show a fellow gamer in the area that theres a chest over somewhere. A simple "Hey, Follow me" callout would fix ALL of the non-fireteam communication between players. EDIT: This is what the dpad should have been. http://i.imgur.com/FSfWoZo.jpg http://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/2bh3ch/idea_for_16_emotes_using_two_taps_on_dpad/ 4. Fix the -blam!-ing crucible "Damage is normalized" - My -blam!-ing ass. You REALLY believe a level 5 has a chance against level 30's with full legendary and exotics? Are you kidding me? Why don't you make modes ACTUALLY normalized and then create a PERMANENT Iron Banner for higher level players who actually want to use the gear theyve grinded a bullshit amount of hours to get? 5. Quit having "events" that are just the same -blam!-ing shit over but with a different twists Queens wrath is -blam!-ing pointless after you nerfed legendary shards. Salvage mode in the crucible should just -blam!-ing stay and Combined Arms was just a mode with only the moon and mars. Wow...just wow. "Hey guys, lets make a mode that only has the maps with vehicles and then call it an event" "BRILLIANT!" Or just let us choose what -blam!-ing maps we want to play MAYBE? 6. Give us some sort of trading or economy Most people will agree that your game is nothing but a grind fest after level 20 with nothing to do but play the same god forsaken shit over and over and over again. Giving us something to do other than play repeated shit over and over like trading, crafting...i dont know...-blam!-ing anything? would make this game more tolerable. I'm at max glimmer every damn time I return to the -blam!-ing tower. I can only buy so many -blam!-ing ships and ammo refills. 7. Remove the -blam!-ing caps on everything Im at max glimmer on both my characters, max crucible and pvp marks. Any additional I get of all three just fall off into nothingness. WTF are we supposed to do with all this stupid useless -blam!-ing currency? I've got all your different forms of your currency coming out my asshole but I can't find enough -blam!-ing shards to upgrade my armor to save my -blam!-ing life. Perhaps if we could simply trade between players to some extent this wouldn't be a -blam!-ing issue. You say you want us to "earn" our gear. REALLY? Then why did you make a -blam!-ing loot system that is 100% -blam!-ING RANDOM. I grinded my -blam!-ing BALLS off to get strange coins to buy exotics with and the same day I buy the Suros Regime my asshole friend, who has NO strange coins and plays half as much as I do gets one in the -blam!-ing crucible for free. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH 8. Daily, Weekly and Nightfall matchmaking. You want to close off matchmaking to your impossible to complete without 5 friends raid then fine but by the time we are level 26-30 and have completed the same -blam!-ing strikes and missions a hundred times over, we don't NEED teamwork to complete these heroics. We've all done them a BILLION times already. We know the fights, we know it's the same -blam!-ing shit we did last time. I don't NEED to be on voice chat with two other people who have also done it countless times. JESUS 9. Fix your -blam!-ing clan system. Holy dog shit. No in game clan support? 100 member cap. Is Bungie run by -blam!-ing monkeys? 10. Add distance markers to patrol missions. The only thing worse than doing the same boring ass patrol missions over and over again is getting the "Go here and scan some shit" ones where you end up driving from the starting point on the moon to the deepest chasm in the tunnels just to scan something and be left in the middle of -blam!-ing no where. In which case it's faster to return to orbit and start over. Give us a "4324m" distance marker and well know to drop that piece of shit mission right then and there. 11. LET US TURN DOWN THE -blam!-ING MUSIC Hundreds of millions went into the development of this game and you're telling me that at no time during the last 3-5 years did anyone at Bungie go like "Hmmm...do you think we should add volume controls?" HOLY -blam!-ING SHIT 12. Make me feel like theres a reason to try to win in the Crucible Because right now, there basically is none. The rewards are random, the rewards for winning are damn near invisible, medals do absolutely nothing for us. Right now the only difference between a win and a loss is getting 3 marks vs. 2 marks which I'm willing to bet the majority of people didn't even know. When I see people who are AFKing in my games, but moving just enough not to get booted and getting exotic rewards and free marks for my efforts, then you know your system -blam!-ing blows asshole. 13. Release the three blocked off areas on earth as free content before the first DLC This is your final chance bungie. From videos on youtube we KNOW this game was shipped with those areas intact. Some full with enemies waiting for us. If you now try to sell us these areas as DLC you are going to have a -blam!-ing shit storm on your hands and there will be a lot more people like me who give up and your 'Could Be So Awesome' game. You keep saying you thrive on feedback and you're listening but I'm not going to sit here and play the same shit 100x over while I wait to see if you actually do. There are too many games being released soon to sit around and hope you get your shit together. I'll come back in a couple of months to check on your progress. Shadows of Mordor here I come. EDIT: New video of glitch shows these areas already built into the original game will be sold to us as expansions https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-osssAKgEc All of you who still believe the locked up areas on Earth and everywhere else will be given away as free content patches after seeing that video are delusional. • Excellent post. I hope this thing trends to the freaking moon and back (no pun intended). Everything you listed is bullshit they need to get fixed. I love how the first executive action they do is shut down the only blaming social aspect of the game, which was the blaming loot cave. I had fun at the loot cave. After running 20 strikes in a row...seriously I ran 20 level 24 strikes in a row back to back, I don't even remember the time passing that day because I was in a dark hole of blaming oblivion trying to get tolands journal finished out for Xur. Also one thing that isn't a core problem, but should be listed Xur is only here on the weekends... WHAT THE BLAME ARE PEOPLE SUPPOSED TO DO WHO WORK THE BLAMMITY BLAME BLAMING BLAME WEEKENDS BUNGIE? I put it in all caps, because it's the most important part of this entire post. Also could you atleast make Xur go until early monday morning, so you know I HAVE THE BLAMING WEEKEND to try to grind BLAMING STRANGE COINS FOR YOUR BLAMING LOW DROP RATE STUPID STRIKES. This wouldn't be a problem if I still had the loot cave, but you know we have to fix things that where actually making the game bearable for your stupid ass over the top recycled content BS grindfest. I've played some grindy games, but I'd rather stand in one spot and kill mobs over and over then run through that BLAMING strike playlist one more BLAMING time. I went ahead and added your BLAMING BLAMS.

    • I couldn't agree more with every point you made. What is, perhaps, the most disturbing part of this whole debacle is the lack of a statement given by bungie or activision regarding the criticism. How do we even know someone who's working for either company is seeing this stuff all over the Internet? Surely they aren't just ignoring us? Right? Folks this isn't good at all.

    • I came around Destiny ignoring the red flags. My friends were trying to reason with me, but I didn't listen. I had played the Halo games. This was a Bungie game, and I would put myself in their caring hands. Now that I've seen Destiny, I am disheartened. The story seems like a hollow shell of what it was supposed to be. A lot of it, as well as other content, feels like it was demoted to fodder for the masses instead of the masterpiece it should have been. Activision and Bungie worked hard to make history, and they will, but what I thought would be remembered as a mark of everything good about games, might just become a bad memory or a running gag. "Sure the game looks good, but remember Destiny..." I want to play the E3 2013 version of Destiny. The one I preordered. Not the knockoff we downloaded. Note, however, that I won't complain about the gameplay. It is flawless, with some exceptions on balance. But the content is lacking, and telling me I didn't run the Raid without dying (basically, hard mode raid) won't change the fact that we are now constantly replaying the same missions, farming the same areas and listening to the same lifeless NPCs on repeat. There is no consistent storyline, despite the strong lore put into the grimoire cards. Many of the great things we expected and were led to believe never happened. Many of the existing areas are locked away behind unmoving doors you must glitch through to explore further. Many systems are broken, most online interactions are slow, and server instability is driving everyone insane. So I guess my question is... What will Bungie do for me to buy their next game? At this rate, it might not happen. Their name has lost its shine and seal of approval.

I agree with the initial post whole heartedly. With regard to the DLC I have one thing to say and it's pretty simple: No Jupiter in the DLC? No Sale. I want a new planet for EVERY new Installment. Ths is what i completely expected after the beta btw. I figured the DLC's would add planets and additional functionality to the city. Never dreamt the city in the beta was all we would have in the actual release. Another post here shows the rather small amouth of content the DLCs will have and OMG its sooo mininal from all apearances. Before the release Bungie had the benefit of the doubt, now they have to prove the DLC is worth it or I will just cut my losses and go. My guess is they got too big and could't coordinate the release and so many people on the project. What bungie pulled off with a handful of people in the original release of Marathon was astounding, I want that here. If they fixed the things above and a couple others and released the DLC content as part of the original release then we would have All loved this game. Edit My Guess is that they can't get Jupiter sorted quickly enough and that to give themselves time they cut up the original release to get a couple freebie DLCs. Sad move really, that extra scope and story alone would have been so much nicer. They held too much back. Ps. Gravity on a world is based on mass. Terraforming does not change the mass of a planet. Even if you could change the mass of a planet and so alter gravity there it would Frak up the orbit of every other world in that solar system. WTF is up with identical gravity on every world. What a fun game mechanic to comletely ignore for no fraking reason.

        • I was going to make a huge post listing all sorts of things. Seems you have a lot covered already so I would just like to add to it :) Reputation This needs to be extended in to something meaningful. It's current use is to simply open up new shelves of items. Once you gain level 3 you can buy anything. At this stage then once you hit level 3 you have no reason at all to do any reputation based content. Unfortunately it's pretty much all reputation based content. level 3 you can ignore missions, bounties, strikes and public events :) Gear Gear is all too similar. Even exotics when compared to purples are very much just the same stats. Gear needs more skinning so that we have items in game that look so cool I would not mind swapping it for the item I have poured thousands of glimmer, hundreds of planet resources and my ultra rare ascendant shards on. As it is though, the gear system is dull , dull, dull and there's no way currently I will swap my purples for anything. Gear upgrading. ALL of my gear requires Hellium from the moon, I mean every single piece of gear. I currently spend my hours running circles on the moon for helium. This is acceptable play style in bungies eyes because I use the caves to look for chests to loot. The reality is is very boring. Why does gear not have a selection of planet resources so that you have a reason to visit all of the planets rather than just one. I am essentially being forced to play the Moon if I want to progress as getting levels means I have to upgrade gear. Alts We are told that making and playing a new character is a great way to enjoy the game [again]. Why are the reputations all zeroed out for alts. I would be happy to play if I was contributing to the future of all of my characters but with a faction and Cryptard reputation of zero for my new characters, they logged out never to be used again once they reached the tower. Future It will take more than one raid and 3 strikes that is mentioned for the November DLC to help folk continue playing. Strikes currently reward marks. If you cap each week you will be able to purchase all purple gear in 5 weeks. The requirement for marks then can be considerably less if you lot an item or 2 while grinding that is purple in colour. By November it would be imaginable that all current players will be purple geared and so will not need marks anymore and so will not need strikes. Even if the strikes award purple items, gear as I mentioned is all the same and you won't swap an item unless it's vastly different is either stats or appearance.

        • Although I personally feel that the direction the gaming industry has taken is an overall terrible thing, actually playing online games is far less frustrating, and much more efficient nowadays. UO, which basically started the MMO revolution, had awful latency issues that plagued the game for months after its release. The first Diablo ran on Battle.net, and holy--blam!-in-shit were there connection issues with that for way too long. Latency, lost connections, trouble logging in, etc. Today, like with D3, or Simcity, those issues were fixed very quickly in comparison. As far as content goes...Yeah, you got a "full" game, but I am willing to bet that games from back-in-the-day had far less going on than what we see in games now. Now on to Destiny. Let's assume Bungie created the game with all the content that is going to be released for it over the next ten years, already finished, including Destiny 2 and 3. This was the game they wanted to release, but they made a contract with Activision so that they could make the game in the first place, and they have to do things their way. And Activisions way is no different than any other AAA game publisher. Make something good enough that, with a ton of marketing, will bring in maximum profit. Then, assuming it gets into the hands of enough overly-privileged gamers, start to release DLC a few months down the road that was already completed before the core game was even released, and sell it for 30-50% of what the core game costs, even though it has maybe 10% of the content in comparison. This is the standard by which all AAA publishers now follow. And it's nothing new. It's been going on for years now, and people get all bent out of shape when they buy a game, as if this business practice completely blind-sided them. It's the same shit, year after year, month after month, week after week with most (not all) new titles. The majority of people know this from first-hand experience, and yet fall into the same deal over and over, as if hoping that the next title "will be different from the rest." If the gaming community wants things to change, we (myself included) have the power to do so. Stop buying games. Period. Or stop buying them under a specific publisher. Better yet, I challenge anyone to start their own game publishing company, and then try to compete with the big-boys using less profitable business strategies. See how far you get. Anyway, nothing is going to change unless something kills the video game market, like how video games killed the comic book industry. And look, everyone knows what is going on, and what to expect when they buy a game (unless they preorder, which is a -blam!-ing retarded thing to do, especially these days). So, either keep feeding the beast and possibly enjoy the title anyway (I'm enjoying Destiny), or go read a book, have sex, learn a language, train for the corporate Olympics, and so on. And finally, even if the publishers are taking full advantage of how stupid most people are (almost all corporations do, I know I would want to financially qualify for an Eyes Wide Shut party), either the game they release is fun, or it isn't. I know I'll keep playing Destiny on and off for at least a couple of expansions. Why? Because I just don't really care about being financially strung along via, what is to me, a great game. Like I said, the gaming industry is not going to change (for the better), and like all other things with vast amounts of money involved, they go downhill.

If the Game won't change, I'm sure this will have a soon end. I think they won't find enough players to grind for month at the exact same places against the same enemies which spawn every time in the same area. To add new Bosses in the same Areal won't change anything for me. I'll find enough games that will satisfy in the future. It's there turn to get me back as a customer. The sad thing is they have so much great things in the game and the Guys who had to bring it all together f**** it up. Maybe it's a lesson to wait 2-3 weeks after a release before buying a new Bungie/Activision Game.

For me: from most anticipated game of the year Destiny became biggest gaming dissapointment ever, worth 75e (basic version on ps4). Just few min ago I found out about latest bug that uncovered missions from upcoming both DLC'S. I am actually shocked. Bet guy who messed up is already fired haha. I went to game trading shop today and I saw already few second hand copies of Destiny on shelves! Mine will join them soon as I am planning to trade it for either Shadows of Mordor or Alien Isolation. I posted few words on this forum over the last weeks. And I don't think I can say anything else. The fact that CONTENT FOR BOTH DLC'S IS ALREADY ON OUR DISCS SAYS IT ALL. F.U. C K. YOU BUNGIE!
