I personally have only read about Exotic Bounties thus far. As far as I can tell, no one knows for sure how to acquire them, or what triggers them, any thoughts?

As someone that has just received my 4th exotic bounty, which this will only be the 3rd that I will be completing I have to say tha tI like them. They are challenging as they should be since it is for exotic gear. Early on when I got my first one I was opposed to certain bounties requiring a PvP component but now that I have overall better gear I'm no longer cannon fodder in the Crucible like I was when I still had only blue or lower gear. I still think that they should have an option for the exotic bounty steps for the players that don't like PvP. For example the only bounty that I've dropped wanted a 25 K/D ratio in PvP and it was like the 3rd or 4th step of the bounty. I'm still not very good in PvP and I rarely have more kills than deaths to get that number up so I dropped that one. I would rather see an alternate PvE option of equal difficulty such as complete a certain number of different strikes without dying (so I can't farm Devil's Lair) or collect 100 of each pickup item which takes a lot of time and I'll have to decide upgrade equipment or save for exotic at that point. I really wish that during PvE though that they would allow equiping multiple exotics, which I think the current restriction is very dumb. If you've been fortunate enough to get the weapons you should be able to swap between them without going through the menu. PvP should still be restricted though.

You didn't include enough answers in your poll. They seem to be just a chance after finishing quests/bounties. The difficulty is weird but possible, but they nd up being annoying because they sometimes put you on a mode you don't want to do. The extra steps should be listed before choosing.

Annoying, taking spots from my daily bounties...

Edited by Ehub8990: 10/6/2014 5:34:02 PMJust got Invective ( exotic shotgun) from a bounty, took a lot of work to get a K/D spread of 25 but it is pretty good It has a very slow reload and very small magazine though, and It chews through ammo!
-
3 bounties in the last 4 days. I triggered two on a single character over 2 days, so I think it's completely random.
-
Why not just offer them all up instead of a select three. I've done 4 of the 6 and I keep getting the same ones now.
-
I enjoyed the work I put in to getting my thorn, and I don't see what's with all the hassle, some of the requirements may LOOK bad, but it was an enjoyable challenge, and if the thorn bounty is the hardest of the exotic bounties. Surly the others can't be that bad?
-
They are well designed
-
I'll tell you if I ever get one...
-
I wouldn't mind it if every bounty didn't have a crucible part in it, I try and play crucible and repeatedly get kicked out after 5 mins with an error messages, so never get to finish a game. Destiny servers are rubbish for me and it's definitely not my connection. Can play any other game or even PvE without ever being kicked out of the game. Very frustrsting. So I've never really had the chance to give crucible a good try.

I got one last week and three this week. All from this week were the same 3 bounties, but last weeks had a different set of three. Maybe they rotate each week? My three for the week were Invictus, Thorn, Bad Juju. I got Pocket Infinity last week.
-
Too much work for a subpar gun. I've done about three in total and loathed every single one that was completed. I don't even accept the bounties anymore, just discard them instead. Make them worth it, and I'd say they're cool, but they aren't worth it so they aren't cool. Or useful. Or wanted. IMO.
-
No option to make them harder, or actually require some degree of skill? They're all just a grind atm.

Edited by ApeTheMad: 10/6/2014 5:27:26 PMI've done three and have three more in the works. My only gripe is that Exotic Bounties take space from your bounty slot (since they take a lot longer to complete than the regular ones) and like I've seen suggested, would make much more sense that they would actualy be in the mission slot. And while I my self have had no problems with the Crusible related bounty tasks, I understand well when some people are upset about them. Maybe Bungie should make separate PvE and PvP exotic bounties, or make more than one way to complete each bounty? Well, that is my two cents anyway.

waste of time because they offer the worst exotics ingame

Edited by Roudhouse Kick: 10/6/2014 4:52:42 PMIt's a nice free way of obtaining exotic weaponry. Getting boned by rng? Not happy with Xurs prices or Cryptard's "decoding" practices? Here, have an exotic bounty! I just wish the game itself explained exactly HOW to actually get the exotic bounties in the first place. You know, like how the game explains exactly how much light you need to level up after 20...Oh wait
-
They're nice, but i wish i could get different ones. I keep getting the same bounties i already did
-
They're completely random. I've gotten and completed 3 in one week. Bad Juju, Thorn and Invective. I think I was kinda lucky.

Edited by FenrisAlpha: 10/6/2014 4:46:43 PMHonestly I think they are pretty cool. I hate to put down a game that I enjoy so much, but the exotic bounties have more story than the main plot. From them I've learned that the Warlock vanguard used to be a shotgun toting badass. That the pocket infinity is made from unstable vex tech, and you have to calibrate it. Oh and Thorn is like an evil living gun hell bent on devouring everything. They even changed the dialogue in the strike when you get to the last step for thorn. Sure the PvP stuff can be intimidating but don't be discouraged. Ask people's strategies, play some capture, and modify strategy to your skills and needs. I'm by no means a good PvP player but I've had a blast each time I had to play to reach my next step. This is the kind of stuff Bungie meant about earning your gear and having a story to tell.
-
I actually had thorn and bad juju bounties at the same time. Just finished thorn. When you turn in 5 bounties at once your chances are higher to get one.
-
I have done two, and I really think they are cool. They had some difficult tasks. I suck at PVP so those sections were difficult. But it was such a great feeling finishing and getting those weapons. I really like them.
-
I still haven't received one yet :/ I pray to the RNG gods every night however my prayers seem to fall on deaf ears #bruh #thestruggle
-
They just take time and willingness to get the job done. No big deal. They are worth it.
-
They're not that difficult, but I would definitely remove the PVP portions of them. I love PVP, but I don't think they should be part of getting them. If anything, incorporate more difficult tasks, similar to Thorn, where you need to spawn a named enemy in a strike or something to that extent. Or, require a certain amount of kills with a "broken" version of the weapon, that acts like a Common (white) weapon.
-
They're annoyingly long when you consider that you can get one from our for next to no effort
-
Edited by luc76985: 10/6/2014 3:56:32 PMI've gotten 2. 1 is completed, the other is very nearly complete. I'd recommend doing all the work when you get them. It has helped round out my experience in Destiny (forcing me into PvP), and it also gives us...well, something to DO, which is good since the game is a wee bit lacking in content. ETA: I don't have any idea what triggers the bounty drop. Some people have received several, I've received 2, some have received none. It's anyone's guess as to how to trigger them.
