Quit Defending This Game
You're just feeding the fire. I was pleasantly surprised last week to see what this forum could become, which is a community of people helping others out with tips and tricks, talk of gameplay for those who actually enjoy it, and sharing of experiences. I thought all those who hate that we like this game had finally given up, but new ones have risen. No one is changing anyone's mind so let's help the haters move on by ignoring them. We, those who are enjoying the game, do not have to defend it from those who do not. Let's get back to building our community, please!

8 RepliesI don't think anyone has a problem with people criticizing Destiny. I certainly don’t. What people take issue with is people criticizing Destiny, but then praising other games when they do the same thing. Since Destiny was released, I can’t count the number of people I’ve seen whining about how they wished Destiny was more like Halo in terms of story Nevermind that Destiny presents the main character in the same exact way that Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo: ODST, and Halo: Reach presented their own main characters. In CE, we started the game as the Master Chief, but who he is wasn’t explained. His history, motivations, and even his personality were largely unexplored. We are woken from Cryo-Sleep, and sent to fight aliens as the plot unfolds. We are told nothing about the Covenant, and given no real reason to fight them aside from the fact that they are trying to kill us. The similarities should be obvious. Yet where Destiny is blasted for this, Halo: CE is remembered as one of the best games of all time. Even Halo: Reach and ODST followed the same pattern, and once again, they were widely praised for their campaigns. So why the double-standard?

Its up to the community to pull together and show the trolls the door. Me, Im a born and bread PC gamer, until Destiny, swore Id never play an FPS on a consol and yet here I am. Bought me a PS4 just for this game and havent looked back. Love the gameplay and movement, reminds me alittle of Crysis and that game was groundbreaking and one of my all time favorites. Gorgeous visual and sound. Enjoying the available time I have to put into it. Think they have broken new ground with the multiplatform server, dont know why games havent done this sooner. Is it perfect, unfortunately no. Probably my biggest gripe is the lack of in game information and minimal story. I did have visions of the next new Mass Effect on crack which was not quite forfilled. Yes I realise it never claimed to try and emulate Mass Effect but an improved and more indepth story would be great. Would just be nice to wander around the Tower and have some mindless dialog with NPCs and learn alittle more about what is going on. Things that can all be improved with time, updates and expansions. I hope bungie are keeping close tabs on the comunity and what people are after so we can all stick at it for the long hall.

At first it was somewhat amusing but now it just annoying and tiresome. There's not much to so called "amazing campaign", that pvp feels hella off from an actual competitive mp, the engram system is kinda broken, I dont see how the very few legendary emgrams gotten grinding and playing not farming in a bloody cave for hours can be useless blue or green gear you wont be able to exchange materials for, gaining xp for your faction, vanguard, etc is way too friggin tedious, you gain little to nothing towards those by playing, there's little to the story it feels hela dull and boring. I dunno, don't know what to think. I'm sorry im sounding annoyed, but the game I was hoping to be entertaining turned out to be a huge let down. Some of the reviews giving are serious. Sorry, but this game is not entertaining at all. People criticizing are not haters. There is serious sheet going on with this game, and it is not funny.

Id reached the point where I don't care to defend it anymore anyway. But i just never thought about it like this. My final thoughts on the whole controversy: This style of gameplay, repeating content in order to gain further power through either loot, or an alternative advancement system, is the linchpin of all MMO games, and the ARPG games like diablo. Either you enjoy it, or you don't. Most people are used to playing through a games content once, and then they move on. For some reason, those people expected that this game was going to be more like skyrim with guns I suppose. But once the beta was released to the world, that myth should of been crushed. Why it wasn't I just don't know. I for one love games like this. The key is having a group of friends to play with to be honest. It doesnt feel like your just grinding content when your chatting it up with your buddies. And thats why this style of game is always built around coop. For months before I played destiny, I was playing diablo. Running rifts over and over and over again. Chatting with friends, trying to get that next upgrade. I feel like this game is kinda like the matrix trilogy. If you just except it for what it is, and not what you thought it was going to be, you can enjoy it. And if you don't, that's ok. Move on. There are some great games down the pipe.

5 RepliesI really like this game and i think its amazing. Just so confused.. I can get kicked from a match out of the blue and have them tell me its my internet. Its not like i lose connection to live its just this game. ALL of my other online games run fine.

(Not directed at OP) Look I understand some of you people don't enjoy destiny, and that's fine we all have our games that we like/don't like and sure voicing your opinion is something you should do from time to time. However there is a point to being obnoxious with this hate while people are enjoying the game. As a example the people I play with they went from enjoying the game to hating this game and everything about it and every -blam!-ing sentence is hate about some aspect of the game, then repeat it 20 more times all while for some reason not playing another game they enjoy and still playing Destiny. Look I get it you dislike the game, that's fine I just don't want to hear your opinion of the game 20 times while we play and in a way is the same as the forum. We all have our likes and dislikes, I just don't want to hear a broken record. /rant Sorry if this was offtopic just had to get it out.

This game is somewhat different and special to me. I'm not saying that there is no problem in the game, but the overall idea and the look of the game is something new. Never experienced a FPS game like this before. I hope to be playing this game for a long time.

The majority of us love the game and that's why you don't see many posts about it. We are simply to busy playing it. The minority are those who don't like it and flame on the forums. Unfortunately they are the loudest because they have nothing better to do.

What a bunch of babies, this is a console game. Half of these posts are "back in the day" posts, like you guys are important Vietnam veterans. It's a video game, you -blam!-ing losers. Grow up, and learn to Pvp, which is where all the real skill has always been. But crying over the story and what not is hilarious, I'm sorry the robots aren't enough for you! Nerds, they're robots and fat orcs, fight real people, skill less losers.
