Hey Cave noobs come in here. NOW!
I am currently a lvl 26 with 3 legendary pieces and an exotic. I play a mere 3 hours a day to get to where I am. I have NOT CAVE BITCH FARMED IN MY LIFE. You know whats better than cave bitch farming? CRUCIBLE and weekly strikes.
I average 4-5 rare engrams per hour in crucible and get 1 purple per hour. I have enough crucible marks to buy 3 legendary armour pieces (currently have 2 and am debating using the marks to buy a grim citizen or leg armour). The strange coins I used to buy my EXOTIC is mostly from crucible rewards, the rest from the strikes.
Playing the game the right way just a mere 3 hours a day has gotten me further than probably 98% of the cave bitch farmers.
And 3 hours a day is not a lot. I bet most cave bitch farmers spend that much time a day at the cave ALONE.

RNG favors you then. Some people just have seriously bad luck. I got the game several days after my friends did yet I've caught up/surpassed some of them who put in around the same amount of hours that I did. I've gotten 2 Exotic bounties while some haven't even had 1. I've gotten armor from the Vault while most of the others in my group got the class item. I've played PvP matches where a 2.0 got a blue and a .5 got a purple. Or one of the lead guys got a Strange Coin and a blue while the others got nothing. With a system of RNG you play what works best with you. Don't worry about what someone else is doing, if it isn't affecting you then its not an issue. If you get good loot out of PvP then good for you, someone else may not have that sort of luck.

I just don't understand how anybody gets any gratification from shooting at a cave for hours. Yeah engrams can be frustrating, but cave farming sounds like a desk job to me. I guess to each his own right? Right? I've just never been one much for instant gratification. I enjoy the slow evolution from basic gear to high level gear. It's like watching your character grow as a person almost, coming into their own after braving challenge after challenge. Getting my gear from farming would feel like mail ordering a black belt to me.

I've tried the cave. It's not my thing. I prefer doing bounties and strikes. BUT WHO THE -blam!- ARE YOU TO TELL SOMEONE HOW TO PLAY? HUH? THATS RIGHT YOUR NOONE. SO SHUT YOUR MOUTH. I AND EVERYONE ELSE PAID MONEY FOR THIS GAME. I AND EVERYONE ELSE PLAYS THE WAY WE WANT. but anyways, how about them queen bounties eh? Fun right?

1 ReplyI see your point. BUT not everyone likes crucible. My son gets frustrated by it and has a bad gaming experience. The challenge brings him to a couple of sessions weekly but eventually the fact that he is just bad drives him back away. So why should he do what you say and play in a way that he doesn't enjoy? Why should competitive crucible players have their team drug down by a player that doesn't even want to be there? For a 7 year old boy, cave farming is actually really cool. (He did it once when he happened to come across a group doing it). I do enjoy crucible and I do not cave farm. I do however hit patrols and "farm" the same 3 spawn sites over and over to hit bounties, loot, or XP. There is more than one way to play the game and no "RIGHT" way to play it.

1 ReplyI cave farm, I've had 5 exotic armour pieces, 5 legendary primary's, 3 legendary secondary's, 2 legendary heavys. Thunder lord and pocket infinity, countless legendary armour pieces/weapons that I've broken down for ascendant materials. And some in the vault for my Titan when I get around to leveling him up. -blam!- your crucible.

Btw, only a few engrams wont help you if you can get like 15 engrams with a few legendarys each hour for just sitting afk ;) Goodluck beating that without getting kicked by inactivity The farmers could get more legendary items before you could get 1 legendary engram xD You dont have to tell me that you get a legendary every 5-10 games

While i think the cave farming is pretty boring, and there are funner, better ways to earn the loot, having tried it twice to see why there are so many butthurt people on the forums that worry about how other people play their game, i find that this spot is nothing that people should really be worrying about. You hardly get legendaries from it, and after you are at a certain point, say 24 or 25, there is really no point in doing it besides dismantling greens and blues to get materials. Calling people bitches because of this small exploit is not only childish and dumb, but also just as pointless, some people DO NOT WANT TO PVP not speaking for myself i have fun with it and am getting better. So saying "HEY BITCH STOP CAVE FARMING I CARE ABOUT WHAT YOU DO WITH YOUR GAME GO PVP AND EARN YOUR SHIT" is just stupid.

7 RepliesI usually go there for glimmer and mostly for weapon upgrading. Even though I am level 27, I just do it to get my gear and weapons maxed out so I would upgrade them right away and then do other stuff like searching for planet objects (relic irons, spirit blooms, spin metal or helium filaments). For the ascendant shards and energies, I do the hard way xD

Part of a mmo is finding a good farming location and using it to the fullest. Don't be mad just cause other players are different from you.
