So, let me get this straight. You want a game that plays for years and years, with extra, new and shiny content along the way, and you want the company making it to do this to just shit out money to support this? Or would you prefer a monthly subscription? I for one, SO HAPPY there's no monthly subscription like with most mmos, where expansions aren't free AND gameplay isn't either.

 • No, I want a full game now that can be expanded down the road. It's ok to have a big overarching story that takes several titles to finish, as long as you have a compelling minor narrative in each title. I don't see how Bungie could get this so right in Halo and so wrong in Destiny.

 • oh like wow? where you get 4-5 major updates per expac...and each update in that game has more story than this full game.

 • When did WoW start putting story into their expansions? Last expansion I played was Wotlk and that story sucked.

 • Still a story and an in depth one at that. You can hate the story but at least they did have a full on story.

 • There's a difference between story and lore. WoW had an abundance because of the Warcraft games that came before it, and if you read your grimmore cards you'll see that Bungie has lovingly crafted the lore for this game as well. Saying this game has no lore or story is like saying Dark Souls had none either. Just because it's not handed to you on a silver platter, doesn't mean it's not there.

 • ya its not there. lore does not count as a story. Like I have said before, If I wanted to read the story, then I would have googled the grimoire and forgone the game itself. WoW, has a story in the game itself. A lot of history in the game. Sorry you didn't bother reading the quests while playing. (which, if wow came out today, I would complain as well)

 • ^this. But let's remember, most of the people complaining can barely read, so it's not surprising the story may be over their heads.

 • Maybe it's my extensive back ground in RPGs such as the Souls games and the Elder Scrolls games that is the reason I love finding and reading little bits of the lore. Every ghost I find, every description on every piece of armor, every enemy I kill, every location I discover, all of these things opens up the story and lore to me just a little more. It makes every find exciting.

 • I like lore too. To ENRICH the story. Not tell it. Elder scrolls has always told a story with tons of bits to enrich it, destiny is not like ES. Its not like any rpg I have ever played. This story has less to it (so far) than halo ce. It is however on par with the original mario game.

 • Halo CE had next to no story. You're seeing it through rose colored glasses.

 • Thanks for pointing out that destiny has even less than next to no story for me.

 • Again, it has plenty of story. You're just not seeing it because you like complaining about things.

 • False. I see some story. Yes, it's there. You realize that if the story was told and not played. It would cover the prequel part of a book. I'm sorry that I have a high standard when it comes to story telling but that's not a fault of mine. I am sorry I didn't read twilight and think it's the best thing since slice bread. Because that's how I feel. I feel like I am just talking to a generation who have not heard of Fitzgerald or Tolstoy or Hemingway and were raised on the likes of Twilight, maze runner and divergent. So when comparing to crap like that, maybe this game does have some grand story but to my standards. It does not.

 • You seriously just made a number of assumptions about me. Whatever, sit on your high horse where the story has to be spoon fed to you. I'll play this game and enjoy the feeling of discovery I get with it, just like I did with Dark Souls.

 • Yes, because this game is so much like dark souls. And if you and anyone else does not want be compared to someone who has never heard of a single great writer, then maybe you all should stop saying this story is great. You all assume there is some big mystery at hand here. That's all conspiracy at this point. Fed to you by some post here on the forum that you claim as your own imagination. Well, here is a tip for you, if your imagination is so grand at stories, create your darn story. Don't try and make someone else's failed story better and defend it to the grave.

 • If you're so discontent with the story, move along. I've read countless series and seem countless movies and shows that tell you nothing with the first entry, and yet people loved the series once it was ended. If you have such little faith that the story will pan out over the next ten years and turn into something great, then move along and leave room for those of us who are here to enjoy the ride.

 • Yes, you read a book that costs 10-20 dollars. You watched a show that when broken down costs you 80 cents an episode. You have seen great movies, great. You can rent those for just over a dollar. This game costs 60 bucks and all I get is an episode? Maybe 2 more episodes before the next one costs money and then more money. And then by time the last episode comes out, it will have cost us $400+ because I hate to break it to you. That's just one season in 10 years. With that you could have bought 10 seasons of a show at 40 a season. Gotten more hours of story and probably gotten a collectors edition with some special features to enhance that story. But anyways, I can see that whatever kind of person I am talking to just doesn't get it. That's fine with me. I'm still giving the game a shot but when the lifetime of destiny ends, if I am proven right, then even you will likely join me in not going to continue the madness in destiny 2.

 • You're right, I don't agree with you. And $400 over ten years isn't going to break me. No we're near it in fact. I enjoy the gameplay immensely and will continue to enjoy it with each new installment. I enjoyed the story even though it was incomplete and not ground breaking in the slightest. You see, I buy games for enjoyment, and I enjoy destiny. The gameplay is awesome and the story is intriguing enough to keep me coming back. As I said, if you don't enjoy it, move along. I promise none of us will miss you.
