I'm not sure if you were/are a Mass Effect fan but, when the 3rd game launched there was a collective "WTF!" outcry at the ending of the game. As a result, in an unprecedented move by a big time developer, BioWare announced that they would patch the ending to "clear up some ambiguity and have a tighter sense of closure". In the interim fans combed through in-game codex and cutscenes to arrive at what became known as "The Indoctrination Theory" to try and make sense of it all. Commander Shepard was speculated to actually have become Indoctrinated (read mind controlled) by the game's big baddies. It was thus presented that the vast majority of the ending of Act 3 of the game was ACTUALLY happening in Commander Shepard's mind and the events on the screen were NOT literal physical reality but was Shepard trying to overcome (or succumb) to the effects of the Indoctrination. This theory was put together by the community and was very VERY convincing as it used in-game evidence to support it. However, it was debunked with BioWare's official release of the official redesigned ending. This is essentially what you've done here with your Destiny theory. You're connecting dots and proposing connections based on limited game knowledge and speculation. That might work in a game world like Dark Souls where it's done with some degree of competency but I honestly don't think Bungie are that masterful with the indirect narrative angle. Also, your synopssis is confusing since your references aren't directly quoted and your explanations are just expected to be taken at face value. Maybe a video would be a better format for you to describe this? TL;DR - Intruiging speculation but presented without clear support. We've been here before with Mass Effect 3 's Indoctrination Theory.

  • the problem with the "redesigned" ending of ME3, was that it didn't clear anything up...in fact, it made things MORE confusing.. not to mention the heaps of evidence to support the indoctrination theory, AND the cinematic after the credits, suggesting that shepard didn't actually die, and that the ending wasn't actually as it appeared..... the ending to ME3 is still the most aggravating kick in the nuts in a game...it's confusing, and dumb, and really poorly executed. the only thing that comes close to it, in terms of lousiness, is the entirety of Halo 4's story...

  • If you read the vex Grimoires it has a strong amount of support. Long story short a single vex has the ability to process entire universes and play out what can/may happen as a means to infer their best reaction in the real world. Definitely a good read if you haven't checked them out yet.

Also while on Venus your ghost is talking about the gatekeepers and saying something about they guard time or something.

  • Okay you just make it sound like the vex are related to the warminds. And the term warmind came from Halo btw.

  • I don't know much about ME, but I do know Bungie, and while the campaign kinda sucked, we're starting a 10-year journey. I don't want to know it all yet, mystery has an appeal that Halo lost in Halo 2. If you want proof that Bungie can write a twisting story that hasn't been completely decoded and ripped apart 20 years later, take a look at Marathon.

It's not that I need to know it all. Thats not what people are criticising the story on. It's fine to have big secrets and ambiguous plot points that get slowly revealed over time. I'm cool with that. What people are miffed about is what IS there is done poorly, with little coherency, and with pretty blatant repetition. I'll sum it up: - Lack of character development: Either your own or from NPC's you meet. There's really no one to care about in Destiny. The Queen and her Brother is as close as it gets and...that's not saying much. - Monotonous method of exposition: Quick count on your fingers how many times the Finklebot has to provide exposition while he's opening doors / hacking computers/ or anything else that has you waiting there fighting off waves of enemies. - Lore nuggets AREN'T in-game: Flavor context stuff being in other media sources is fine but having the VAST majority of backstory and context being relegated to Grimoire cards is a terrible idea. There's NO reason why the Grimoire can't be included in-game.

  • I look forward to it, it's creative even if it doesn't turn out to be true.
