I just don't get it. Yes this game has massive MMO elements, but what is this game at its core? A shooter. For every shiny new inventive idea that was brought into this game, I feel like a lot was forgotten. The worst part was that Bungie had the perfect reference to use, and it was extremely neglected.
Bungie created Halo, a game that balanced one of, if not the best of competitive, causal, and social aspects any shooter has ever had. It seems like in the days of Halo Bungie let the users prolong the lifespan of the game, instead of the developers promising new content in the not so certain future.
Imagine Bungie with, voice chat... Planning and finding new members to run strikes with, or raids would be simple. Think about the fun that could be had with sparrow races, or other causal games to just have fun with. Just like grifball was to halo. Even just the additions of private matches, along with a way to share user created content would of changed this game completely.
However my biggest problem is the current PvP system. Aside from the obvious unbalanced reward system, there needs to some type of competitive game mode, with possible changes to the game modes, and weapons. Changes like, No rockets, no supers, no shotguns, or fusion rifles. Those are just suggestions that could all be debated on to create a more skill based environment.
All in all this game is fun, new, innovative, and will change the gaming scene for years to come. I just wished they took a look to thief success in the past past, before they looked into the future.
Great read! Only problem is have is with an "unbalanced Pvp reward system" I think rewarding players who didn't do so well is a good idea. Imagine that you just got served in Pvp k/d of 0.03 and you get nothing but the frustration of being beat. Your not gonna play that part of the game anymore. I think what they did was fine.
