Add Matchmaking to Raid, Daily Story & Weekly Strikes?
Just sharing some hopefully useful feedback and a suggestion here. The Daily Heroic Stories and Weekly Heroic Strikes and Weekly Nightfall Strikes are fantastic if you can find a full group of players to do them with. But they can be difficult and boring solo.
Would it be reasonable to request that coop matchmaking is added to these, just like the Strike playlists? It would make completing them much more fun and finding people to play them with much easier. When I have no friends online and want to play them it becomes quite frustrating trying to find anyone to play with.
I think it would also greatly reduce the amount of spammy forum threads and messages cluttering up all forums looking for a team to party up and play with.
Any thoughts? I may have missed it, but has Bungie said anything on this matter as far as anyone is aware?
Hopefully matchmaking can be added to Raids, Daily Heroic Stories and Weekly Strikes and Nightfall Strikes in the future. Let me know if you agree!

[b][u]EDIT:[/u] Based on feedback, it sounds like some oppose Raid for matchmaking due to difficulty but some disagree - it sounds like it might be more worth your time to find a team to do it with as opposed to matchmaking as there have been many good points brought up, however there still is not any harm on giving the option. And for the Daily Story and Weekly Strike and Weekly Nightfall Strike missions they still sound perfectly reasonable to all for coop matchmaking as they are comparable to other Strike mission matchmaking playlists [u]already available[/u] in The Vanguard playlists.[/b]

Still no update on this. I really find it frustrating that one of the very few ways to get Strange Coins are by doing the Weekly Strikes and for some reason I can't do Matchmaking. What is the harm for [i]at least adding it to the Weekly Strikes?[/i] Regular Strike playlists already have matchmaking!
Super, super frustrated at this point. I try so hard to keep playing, enjoying, and defending this game. But this kind of missing feature makes it so hard.
There is no reason for this not to exist.
Please folks, keep sounding off as DeeJ said. It's the only way it will ever happen.

3 Repliesbump. Give us matchamaking for the raids and nightfall. I want to play the game how I want, not how bungine wants me to. I would like to play the content that I paid for. There is no reason not to add OPTIONAL matchmaking to the raids and nightfall.

If they put matchmaking in for Nightfall and Raids put it in as an option. What I'd rather see is a better populated Tower with actual real social aspects but what we get now is random spam invites with no explanation of what they want to do. Have an 'noticeboard' area where people can select what they're looking for -nightfall, raid, difficulty level and checkpoint or whatever. If there are others in the tower looking for the same thing it shows you their level etc. Could even pop a wee icon over a character indicating what they were looking for. Tower would need more people in it though for it to have a chance. Perhaps it won't replace the forum hunting but at least it would get people started and add some desperately needed social aspects to the tower.

2 Repliesraid shouldn't have MM they should have a lobby to some other kind of social support but if bungie didn't want to do this then MM is still better than nothing if only to not be a d*** and convince people to get a "real" group together and the heroics/nightfall...... i fail to see the complexity that requires a fully prepared team for *shoot things til their die* which is all strikes and missions are

Not saying optional should not be mandatory,although I have never failed the weekly heroic , even with randoms since the matchmaking started!!There have been times I soloed the nightfall and think matchmaking would be good for the nightfall as well, but think communication is a absolute must for the raids,so please make it OPTIONAL!!

Here's the issue with players in general: For every success story, there is a failure story specially tailored to the raids. Raid based issues already being witnessed by players in the weekly heroic matchmaking dilemma: a) AFK. Players controllers dying, going away from controller for parental reasons, or just having to go take a break, in the middle of a combat zone, because they felt nature calling really badly. Players who align themselves for raids need to have time and a process ready for it. b) Non-maxed class abilities or guns. My 10th completion of CE had something happen to me I will never forget (this also happened funny enough on my 43rd completion of VoG). Destinylfg.com, saw a group had just lost a member and I sent the message/got an invite. Had a Hunter in that group who had never run sword before. I was my titan at the time, told him the basics and knew we would need three or four wipes before we got anywhere. Hunter goes through three or four times before he says he's only half completed his hunter blade dancer role. I laughed and said that was fine amid the other players practically screaming at him and told all of them to relax since I could run sword. As a Titan, I can do sword. I can do it on my warlock and hunter as well. I can even be the hunter blade dancer in VoG and never die with no armor perks tossed on. That's the point. Adaptability you only get? By having a raid mindset. Having matchmaking? Pulls ALL the possible candidates into a raid scenario and forces a group to find a replacement quick when things don't work out or people leave. Why? Join in progress. Oh. Hey. The next point. c) JIP or Join in progress. Noooooooo thank you. I would rather use Destinylfg.com, select what group is doing the bridge of Crota part, and send a message for an invite then be paired up with a random team and not enjoy any of the combat my way. That is why raid matchmaking, nightfall matchmaking, and weekly matchmaking for that matter... should NEVER be allowed into Destiny.

Matchmaking would really help us fathers that enjoys playing a bit of destiny. matchmaking is not horrible like some of you are saying. I mean sometimes we just don't have a full time available to party up or search forums for players. By doing this it does not mean that clans won't still be doing their raids which ever way they want do to it. If bungie puts it as an option it would be great. So they should really think about it.

I actually play the raid with a group of friends. but at the beginning we were not enough people to do the raid . we didn't know if we could finish a raid. there are many people that don't have the luck that i have and I think it's not right. It is discrimination. bungie can change this. matchmaking for everybody!.

I PUT ALOT TIME INTO FINDING PEOPLE TO DO A RAID BY THE TIME WE MAKE IT TO CROTA 80% OF THE TIME A PLAYER LEAVES BECAUSE OF WORK OR OTHER OBLIGATIONS MAKING MY FIRETEAM FINDER EXP A ROYAL PAIN MATCHMAKING IS CRUCIAL TO KEEPING THIS GAME ALIVE I THINK EVERYBODY DESERVES A CHANCE TO DO A RAID AND ALOT OF US HAVE DIFFERENT SCHEDULES.

There are myriad reasons to do so - most of which have been enumerated in this thread - and no substantive reasons not to at least make the option available. I hope people continue to push for this change and Bungie is receptive an idea that will only serve to increase both the number of and satisfaction level of players.

I would like to point at how many people in this post have replied in some variation "from what I hear about raids". To me thats a sign that you have not done the raid and it's a dame shame because from what I hear they are awesome ... See what I did there? I haven't attempted the raid either. I really really very much so would like to pretty please try the raid but I only know one other person who plays Destiny on the Xbox one Entertainment platform. So effectively I need 6 acquaintance and then add a layer that everyone owns a Xbox one? That is a heft hoop to jump through. I get and understand more then anyone the difficulty of the raid and weekly strikes, but offering more "options" usually never hurts. ( Disclaimer: Me and my girlfriend tried the raid and did not make it past the first area) Unless your at a sundee bar in a all american country style buffet and you use all the sprinkles and gummies. ( moderation my dear porky friends) So I formally ask pretty please ad match making to the weekly,Nightfall Raids and any or portions of your game that have and will be. It make me and my girlfriend a happy couple!!!

Although this is a good option its also a bad one or perhaps if this is to be implemented make it a choice option don't have it forced on everyone because i for one like doing these solo often and if a friend decides to join me for a carry or to help out i don't mind because it's someone i know im helping rather then some stranger who will probably be carried and then later not return the favor of helping you when you may need it.

Matchmaking was one of the reasons why I lost interest in Destiny. If it gets it, I would most likely return. I'd love to have it.

If the well known draw backs of PUGs bother you, organise your own as you do currently. If I was a designer at Bungie I'd look at sites like DestinyLFG as an indictment of the current stance. The fact is, huge numbers of players are unnecessarily impeded. WoW went through this same process - "We want to preserve the integrity of the higher end content and cultivate genuine social links between players". It was a weak argument in 2005 and it's a weak argument now, for one simple reason. Adding a matchmaking *option* does not, in any way, prevent clans or pre made groups from doing their own thing. It's not zero sum. And you just might let those of us who haven't got a burgeoning friends list or the desire to trawl 3rd part sites, a chance to participate more.

1 ReplyI just realised that there is no matchmaking for the Daily Story, Weekly Strike and Weekly Nightfall Strike missions. I was assuming there would be matchmaking, playing them solo is very frustrating.

It only makes sense to add matchmaking in the daily nightfall and weekly because it doesn't really matter if people ditch you on that. Players will always ditch and in the raid that's ridiculous

I agree with all but the raid matchmaking. I think they should add something in the tower for it. And also, I'm not positive, but I believe Bungie already denied doing matchmaking for the raids, nightfall, weekly, etc :-/

I agree also besides the raid. Matchmaking would help a lot. I miss the daily all the time simply because I have no team.
