So... where's the full game?

....... Please don't tell me that this is the full game..... My god, what happened Bungie?! Did Activision point a gun at you telling you to rush out an incomplete game?!... So we can pay $20, wait no $35 for an expansion pass!.. Seems like this is a pattern with every other company.... Can you imagine playing Super Mario 64 and having to pay for each map they have made?! This is ridiculous! I can't even see the pile up of cars in Old Russia shown from E3! I was able to see it in the alpha, but not the full game?! What the actual F@ck! I was told that everything I can see, I can go explore that, but instead I'm greeted by a message saying "TURN BACK"...-_-.I also remember someone saying "I still get lost in Old Russia"..... Ummmm who would get lost? The map is so small, I memorized each location in under 3 hours. Kings watch, Is not even open in the full game, so do we have to pay $35 for more of Old Russia? So far the game has been disappointing, as far as launch day. For those who didn't want to read my rant here's a summary: Pros: - great visuals, textures, lighting and graphics - Art, whom ever created these beautiful worlds better get a raise - Gameplay, is smooth as butter -Sounds/ music are amazing! Every step I take has a different sound - Great AI (To me the enemy's feel alive) Cons: -PVP needs work -Exploration Is limited -weapons look the same -story didn't have to end -Exotic guns need to be rewarded by searching out in the wilderness, not simply buy it from xur. -the last city is unexplorible -The looting system is weak -No private matches -No communication what so ever -Chaotic Multiplayer -Overall not a good start. 6.5/10 from me

    • All of this is completely true... but bungie can't hear you through all the money that's raining down on them. I feel like someone suing for false advertising would be reasonable based off of a lot of the claims they made in their development videos.

    • Agreed, but a 6.5? I would give it a 4 just off shady business practices alone.

      • So, I don't understand how this game could have been rushed - they took ME3, Borderlands, Shadowrun, and mashed them together with design and mechanics taken straight from Halo. It doesn't look like they did anything from scratch. I said that to say this - there is no excuse for the flaws in this game or charging $60 for an incomplete and flawed game and another $35 for the stuff that should be there to begin with. Don't get me wrong - I enjoy the game. I don't think it's terrible. I just expected more from Bungie and Activision after all the hype and promotion. It doesn't feel like a seamless MMOFPS - there's FPS with MMO elements, but everything just feels small and limited. I've been waiting for that seamless MMOFPS that actually felt like one since reading a 2005 issue of Game Informer and reading about it for the first time. Unfortunately that game never came to pass and every studio who has tried to make one since has gone under, sold the project, or failed on execution. If you make the game, you set the scope, so no excuses please. This is not a new company with a new idea.

              • Not sure if this is a good point but the Vault of Glass came after release but I didn't pay for it. This maybe what happens. We get little add on areas and we pay for large DLC. Bungie has already said the 2010 contract isn't correct about the 4 Destiny games. The 10 year part is a true intention. All the information I can find that isn't gossip points to one big game not 4 smaller ones. People with DLC will bump into people without. The only time I've heard of 4 Destiny's games being talked about was in an old interview when a Bungie employee said that if you start on Destiny 3 and see someone with gear you like from Destiny 1 you'll be able to get Destiny 1 and go back with your current Guardian and get the same items from the same place. So for the people that sell their copy of Destiny 1 I imagine that they won't be able to revisit those areas. Hence why I've gone digital. As I said before though 4 Destiny games isn't accurate any more. Also the next Destiny "game" (I think of it as an expansion) is already being made by most of the team at Bungie and has been since the beginning of the year I believe. Look for recent interviews. Most of what you read in these forums is based on old knowledge from what I've seen.

                • We should play the guessing game to see what people think will happen with this game. 5 million people got the game on day one. To tell how successful it is, we'll have to wait for the dlc numbers. They were smart and offered the dlc pass right off the bat so people could play for a couple hours and think "wow this game is awesome, I'm going to get dlc pass" and I'm sure a good amount of people got the dlc on the first day. So to really tell how successful the game truly is, we'll have to wait for the third dlc - now here's the question, out of those 5 million people that got the game, how many do you think will get the third dlc? I'm guessing around 500,000... How about you guys?

The game is based off of a model similar to MMOs. What will happen is we'll get free content patches that contain activities and story and the story (or story arc) should wrap up before the first expansion. The the same will happen in that expansion, content patches, story wrap up, next expansion. All the inbetweens should be free. The tweeks are going to happen and if you expect a perfect game from something with so many variables then you will always be let down. From WoW and FFXIV to even Street Fighter 4 they are constantly tweeking the system and trying to find a balance that makes everyone happy. The loot system is as good as Diablo 3's but we have the advantage of purchasing legendary gear. As far as exotic items go I think they are meant to be a regular part of ever guardians load out (take into consideration that we don't know what types of weapons guardians normally wielded in the past) due to the fact that you can only gave one we and one armor piece equipped at a time. And trust me most of them don't give the edge you might think they do. Exploration isn't that limited. And the world is pretty fairly expansive. There might be more than one area per planet later on. There are 2 blank cards in the grim ore cards besides the general card, dead ghost fragment, and area specific card. I'm hoping we'll see more areas on earth and more later on. Lastly, because replying to the rest of your points us dumb because you've probably made up your mind and I don't agree with your opinions so I really don't want to waste more tine on it, try and make this game better from scratch within the same tine frame. You do that and I'll retract what I've said. Until then enjoy the day and happy hunting (ex?)Guardian

                            • Just finished the story and was left wanting. Felt very unsatisfied with the stories end. Didnt feel like I accomplished much. Will probably give the game a few more hours play but cant see myself playing much more than that. Cant see how the game supposedly changes after level 20. I just see a lot of grinding in boring patrol and raid missions. Theres only so many times you can do the same thing over and over again. PvP probably wont suck me in either, much prefer titanfall. Cant deny its a beautiful game with an amazing musical score and fantastic gun play. But that can only go so far. Didnt appreciate that the first thing you see when you open the case is a leafet for dlc, and the only major cut scene in the game (in the rift) is only there to open the door for dlc and did little to progress the story. Over all, not a bad game but doesnt live up to the hype. Shame really, we all hoped this was going to be a proper next gen monster. Makes you wonder if the 360 and ps3 limitations held it back. Something to think about.

                              • I agree, what happened to games being complete and not needing DLC to continue the story. I paid 60$ to fight 5 bosses, play 5 pvp maps, and all there's left is grinding....12 days after release. Before anyone says 'obviously you've never played an MMO' I want to say as gamers and consumers we should demand more. Take rerolling a new class for example. Why should I? For the legendary chest piece I got that's not my class? I feel no history with any of the classes. If this is a 'prologue' what's the back story on races and classes. Are some races better suited to different classes like in WoW? And grinding....I love grinding, if it suits a purpose. In Asherons Call I had this sweet hunting spot and collected all kinds of salvage. I would then use salvage to customize my gear to MY style of gameplay. Grinding in Destiny yields lucky drops that chances are may not fit my style of play. Example purple chest that allows more reload speed for a shotgun when my preference is a fusion rifle. Destiny in short is a gorgeous fun game but not worth 60$.

                                • The worst part is that the game is left purposely unfinished. They made the game in a way that DLC would finish it, instead of making the DLC add on to a complete experience because Bungie is greedy. Around 20 story missions, 5 strikes, and <10 PvP maps. What the hell were they doing with their time?!

You do realise the game is being lunched over a period of time. As time goes on the world will change and new places and missions will be available. It's not just Something they lunched on the spot, I think it's better, because they can still work on the new things that are coming and improve them. So that people's opinions and criticism can be taken into account for updates and what's still to come Also level 20 is not max Levelling up changes once you get to 20 Also your board try vault of glass

                                    • Have to agree also, the game seems incomplete for $70 (max LvL is 20 and final mission is at LvL 18....) Has some VERY odd design choices and feels intentionally done that way to maximize how much money the can suck out of you in the future. •The Reef area is useless at the moment, it contains nothing... •The sticky grenades don't even properly work, they literally home in sometimes and other times just flop beside my target or bounce off their model...that's broken right there how did fixing that not have priority...? •Too many one shot mechanics in PvP •Warlocks seem very powerful at the moment in both PvP and PvE, sometimes my TItan gets wrecked by their melee in 1 shot...they have some insane shields that never seem to drop, in PvE they can melt groups of enemies with that Solar Grenade. they have Ressurect, a good warlock almost makes the other 2 classes useless at the moment.... •Some odd delay in PvP, could be due to internet on my end (doubt it, never have issues for other games) or the other, but there is some crazy delay that goes on very often where I get the killing blow and it wont register until the other guy has just enough time to get one more melee or shotgun off.... •This crazy loot system!!! I got an EXOTIC assault rifle for coming into a game in progress and getting 2!!! kills while the other players near the top were around 20-25 kills...I don't even feel a sense of accomplishment, i feel like I kicked the rest of the team in the balls and stole their toys....I sure as hell didn't earn it... I also will give it a try and see how the Queens Wrath event holds up while keeping an eye on the 2 expansions they have planned as I really enjoy the Halo type gameplay and love how relentless the AI is. However if all they are going add is recycled armor sets in stingy numbers here and there with 3 Strikes/expansion I'm done with this. They pretty much sat around thinking of how to make the same if not more money than a traditional subscription model without charging a monthly fee.
