People are farming legendaries trying to get gear and I'm just sitting here in full legendaries from STRIKES...

  • Yeah. It's called being lucky. Everyone has that chance. Hodor.

  • I have played for 194 hours. If I had relied on luck, I would in the same gear as you.

  • Buying exotics and legendaries is easy. Getting rewards from games is random, so yeah, you're either lucky or you aren't. I'm sure you worked really hard for that exotic auto rifle that you probably got from a random reward. Hodor.

  • I got the chest from Xur the first week of playing the game. I got the gloves and helmet from the vanguard and crucible vendors respectively. Finally, I got my boots from about 130 engrams, also in the first week. I got the rocket launcher in the mail from hitting vanguard rank 4, the fusion rifle from hitting rank 3 previously, the shotgun from The Templar, and the machine gun from the first encounter before Aetheon. SUROS was from Aetheon himself. And after running the numbers based on the time I have played (196 hours now) luck should have fallen in about 130 hours ago. The only thing I consider lucky is that I didn't end up getting disconnected in the middle of my second raid attempt.

  • I'm sorry, but I have to say that reading all the comments on your post was quite hilarious. I do indeed feel happier now. Almost laughed a few times. Now I may not be from Diablo, but I agree with your definition based on your sources; and I've played Monster Hunter and had to grind for various rubies. Farming was much different. I did not need to complete anything when I farmed materials, but every grind I had to complete the entire thing and go do it again for more.

  • People that actually understand the two terms will clearly know the definition. People that don't will be like the lemmings that I've had to put up with in the constant replies. Thank you for your input. I'm glad you could bring clarity from a game I have not tried into the mix.

  • doing strikes over and over is just farming strikes.

  • You can't farm strikes. You can farm the adds in a strike, kill your character, then do it over again for engram drops. But doing strikes over and over is grinding. It's understandable that people wouldn't know this because they don't understand what true grinding and farming is.

  • You can farm strikes....for instance the final boss area of dust palace. Kill all the cabal, leave the bosses, jump off the edge. Repeat.

  • You are farming mobs in a particular strike. You're not farming a strike or strikes, which you cannot. You're farming a targeted section for the NPCs in that strike.

Farming is farming is farming. Sitting in pvp all day, farming. Sitting in strikes all day, whether your "grinding" mats (farming) or killing mobs in an area (which you can only get to in said strike) farming. Sitting in front of a cave wasting 4 hrs....yep you guessed it, farming. Quit worrying about how other people get their gear you noob. Bought mine thru farming marks in crucible or crucible drops/faction packages.

  •
Farming is farming is farming. Sitting in pvp all day, farming. Sitting in strikes all day, whether your "grinding" mats (farming)
You can't redefine a term that already has a defined definition to it. You can describe situations that are legitimately farming (which are made a practical necessity of upgrading armor and weapons) and I can give you the actual definition for such action and tell you if it is farming or grinding. And I wouldn't consider myself a "noob" for keeping up with these terms and definitions to educate people on the difference between grinding and farming. I could care less how people get their gear, and I already have great gear. What my concern is people who think they know their definitions of it are trying to argue with someone who actually knows what they are talking about, they lose said argument, they get their butt buddies to come in and insult me, I make another wall of text showing their butt hurt, they try to insult me more.

  • I'm sure your doctor would not want you on public forums. It's probably not good for your mental health. Perhaps your coloring book and mega blocks should be your primary focus right now?

  • Oh sorry, I forgot to put in the quotations to show that I was mocking you and the fact that nobody cares how you got your gear.

  • I never mentioned nor expressed anywhere in my posts how I got my gear was a defining point of my argument. And if you were trying to mock me, you were doing a very bad job. It looked like you were trying redefine a word that has a set definition, which by english terminology and analyzing your text was the message you were unintentionally trying to convey. But then I guess your own mocking attempt went straight over your own head, and right under my feet.

  • I have done a countless number of level 24 strikes and I still get nothing better than a rare item that I have to use for

  • I have done about 5 times as many strikes as you. There's a reason why I would be seeing more rewards.

  • Problem with buying the gear from the Vanguard is that they are so common. I find myself wearing the same armor as many other people and it's a bit disappointing. When you farm it can be anything and not just the same set of gear/weapons.

  • Looks really mean nothing to me: as long as the light level increases, being ugly is also being unique.
