Sweet Jesus. I am not sure what I find more incredible. That there is a faction of people prepared to spend 5hrs of their real life sitting outside a virtual cave pumping rounds into mobs 15 levels lower who can offer no challenge. OR That there is a faction of people prepared to spend 5hrs of their real life as internet vigilantes, policing their personal interpretation of the game mechanics in the singular and time honoured fashion of deliberately frustrating and irritating other players. OR That this thread actually exists for both factions to continue to duke it out mano y mano in a smartphone/tablet friendly environment whilst not playing. OR That it has perhaps not occurred to people that in a first release, high end gear is deliberately difficult to obtain (without time sink or outrageous fortune) in order to stagger the player base across the content. When an expansion arrives (DLC, whatever) the new high end gear becomes nigh on impossible to obtain, while the drop rate for the vanilla high end is enhanced to accelerate the casual player base towards purchasing the DLC (protecting the continuing revenue stream of the developer). Like in, I don't know, maybe every other MMO style game I've ever played? So some people are getting geared up in less time than others - since it isn't exactly a subscription game I don't see the big deal. Keep playing and having fun and you'll get the drops eventually, but deliberately or recklessly griefing other players is never cool. Farmers, make sure the nearby low levels are getting the quest clicks they need; would be vigilantes, just walk on by - is it really worth your time to interfere? Meh.

Loot cave is now hotpatched for those that do not know. Temple of Crota and the Nexus farming are still methods you can go through to farm if need be

All I see in this thread is people worrying about what other people do with their time. Not only that, but what they do with their time IN A VIDEO GAME...

I don't even know where the Earth Hive spot is, however, I did notice something strange yesterday, and maybe people were doing the same thing I was. I just got level 20 and was in the Cosmodrome getting the 6 missions I need for the vanguard bounty. I hadn't done it early on because I wasn't really sure what the bounties were and was focusing on the story missions. So I'm running around and noticing more higher level (20-26) than low level people and quickly figured out I was fighting level 1 and 2 enemies. I also noticed that the engrams dropped were all high level, but low quality armor and weapons. So, why people would want to "farm" at a place mean't for lower level players is beyond me because the reward doesn't match up, unless I'm missing something here. Cheers

Everytime I see someone farming this cave I stand inside of it and wait for them to leave. One kid messaged me to move, I told him it was my favorite dancing spot. In all honesty people should go earn some rewards how it's intended to be, such as a strike, crucible or a raid. Not exploiting. If Bungie intended the game to be farmed and some areas give x5 the amount of rewards as others, Bungie would be stupid. The idea is to give everyone rewards equally. You all know this is exploiting don't try fighting it.

this farm spot needs to go. its a lazy way to get gear and I will interrupt it when ever I feel like it.

So I've been farming the cave for the past few days now (ever since my raid group decided to wait on the final boss until we had better gear and were better prepared), and, through all that, the only upgrades I got there were a legendary shotgun, MG, an exotic hunter helmet (I'm a Titan, just started a Hunter because of that) and my Patience and Time (exotic sniper rifle). Now, if you want to cry about the cave farmers upsetting the games loot table, think again. I've found two Suros Regimes, a Hawkmoon, a couple Legendary legs, and my legendary helmet, all by simply doing tons of Tiger strikes, or by vanguard rep, and attempting the Vault of Glass. (we got to the last boss, as previously stated). Then, there's the fact that one can simply just BUY Exotics from Xur every weekend (like clockwork). This is, I think, the single worst idea Bungie had for this game. As amazing as this game is, the loot system is just... broken. It's far too easy to get exotics. In fact, it's so easy, they should just lift the cap (at least on weapons) and let you use an exotic weapon in each slot. (not armor, because armor has passive abilities) Honestly, I've gotten more exotics than I have useful Legendaries. (and I've only found a handful more legendaries than exotics at that!) I feel it's too easy to get exotics. I wouldn't be opposed to them just wiping all exotics, and making it so you had to do level 26+ content to even have a chance at getting exotics. and remove Xur, or make him only sell the boosters/etc. or maybe 1 (ONE) exotic engram a week, limit it to ONE A WEEK, and make it cost something outrageous, like 25,000 glimmer, 25 motes of light, and 25 strange coins, and keep it for a random class. Exotics need to be a badge of time invested. That or make a new class of item that surpasses Exotics (perhaps armor/weapon sets?) that can only be gained by completing the raid (and make it a high chance to get it, since the raid is excessively hard (thankfully!) or other insanely difficult tasks. I did one of the bounties, where the hardest part was to kill 500 enemies. Other than that, I just had to wait a few days for Xur to show up. These bounties are even too easy. It seems like Bungie just wanted us to have exotics right away. It seems like, if Gear is the driving force behind advancement... and now I'm pretty much topped out on gear... how am I supposed to be motivated to do anything else? I've seemingly hit the top. There are no true "rare" items in the game to strive for. All the legendary armor seems to look extremely similar, ... man... For such a fun game, the loot system sure is atrocious.

So had to report two people today for grieving. One kept shooting at the group of people farming, kept standing in front of me while aiming and dancing, and followed me every time I moved. Then kept dancing in the cave, waving, or just being asinine. I can't believe people have nothing better to do than to grief people like that. If you don't like what I am doing them go somewhere else. Don't ruin the game for me just because you don't want to farm the cave.

But now that the butt-hurt douchebags want to disrupt it by standing in the cave (because they're mad that someone else farms differently than they do?), I went and found another spot. Not as efficient, but still works. To the jack-off's who've made it they're goal to ruin farming: Bungie is quite alright with it. This is a loot based game, [b]and farming is part of the grind that was designed into the game!!![/b] Bungie isn't going to change it, you're all being pissy for no good reason. If your argument is "because it's not legit" ummm... Hammering out match after match for +2-3 Glimmer and +10-25 Rep so you can buy something from the Vanguard or Crucible vendor is considered Farming as well. Running Strike after Strike is farming, etc. Don't be hypocrites. Farming a cave spawn point is just as legit as grinding out 1,000+ matches in the Crucible. Get over yourselves.

Jeeze! I don't understand. What's the point of farming in this game? To show off your character's legendary armor/weapons in PvP or something? Destiny is really not a MMO per say. There is no player driven economy to sell and trade loot, so what's the point?! I don't know why players are treating it as Runescape.
