[FIXED!](PS3) US Buyer with US PSN account getting 'boar' error before the game even installs[FIXED!]

EDIT: Huge thanks to Azramikon for sharing. If you hit the PS button while on the "installing Destiny" screen you can download the compatability pack via PSN rather than the game. OP: This is my order of operations: 1. Insert Destiny disc 2. Start update 3. Finish update 4. 'Press X to start game' 5. 'Installing Desinty' 6. 'Boar' error My account is registered in the US region. I bought the game at a Walmart in the US. I've tried the Help.Bungie thing and it's not working. I really just want to play the game.

  • Just tried again a few minutes ago, this time I accidentally hit the PS button in the middle of the controller a few seconds after the "Installing Game Data" screen appeared (the one right before the error message), and was immediately prompted by the PlayStation Store to install the free, 170mb compatibility pack. I'm not sure if hitting the PS button helped in this situation, or if I got lucky, but now my game is actually installing. I hope everyone else gets just as lucky

    • exited game and restarted it until it downloads from psn. dont touch anything but order and pay....for zero. Dont try and look at other options

        ERROR CODE: BOAR Playstation 3 users: if you are seeing the Boar error code, there may be a region mismatch between your account and the Destiny game. Please see the steps below for more information. 1. Install Destiny. 2. Before launching the game, create a new PSN account. Ensure that the region of your new PSN account matches the game's region. **Note, many people online have noted that they needed to create an account with a U.S. REGION CODE for this to actually work** 3. Launch Destiny to download the update. 4. After the update is downloaded, sign out of your current account and back into your original PSN account. 5. Launch Destiny. If you continue to see this error message please delete, then reinstall Destiny on your console. If reinstallation does not improve your experience, it may be due to damaged or malfunctioning hardware. Check to see if other games work properly, or contact Sony Customer Support for further information.         • I called Sony and there was another fix that worked. I kept getting this error no matter what I did or what region I was in. Sony had me hold down the power button until I heard 3 beeps. Then select restore system files. From there the system rebooted and restored the files. Then I could install destiny.

          • I think bungie should be less "proud" and request a help from sony and microsoft about this kind of errors through their network.

            Edit: seems to be working, getting it downloaded but still need to see if the game is playable. Gonna try this after work today. Hope it works for me. I'll post results.

          • Same thing here, ive made 4 different psns and deleted and re downloaded it like 10 times. and still nothing. My game is from the us and my accounts are us. i also made an account for the uk, and still nothing. does anyone know what else to do?

            • Ok. I had the same problem. I finally figured out what the real problem is: What is supposed tohappen is that the PS Store is supposed to launch to download a compatibility pack. Either the the PS Store was down, or overloaded, so it wasn't launching. Since that wasn't happening, the game can't find the game file it's looking for to verify. So it announces you have a missing or corrupted file, and errors as "Boar". Eventually the store finally launched for me to download the compatibility pack after something like an hour of trying. So best advice I can offer is keep trying, maybe during off-peak hours if the store is overloaded.

              • Having this same issue. Went to the PlayStation Store separately and it told me I needed to update my PlayStation Store "app". Was really hopeful that was the problem... but still get the error even after updating. So frustrating.

                • I was having the same problem just started it up again and they downloaded some new thing that let me download the rest of the game lets hope it continues to work

                  • im also getting the BOAR error and ive spent hours trying to resolve this, the help page doesnt help at all and there seems to be next to no info to find on whats going on. Bungie please fix this asap, theres still a lot of frustrated players out there trying to play your game, lets get it working for everyone.

                  • i just bought this game today also about an hour ago i have done that stupid bungie make a new psn and everything ene though my orignial account is USa bought it at walmart as well i just wana playing the -blam!-ing game i didnt pay 60 bucks to go threw this bs

                    • Same here, and going through the Bungie help on Boar doesn't do anything for me. US account using a disc purchased from Amazon. I still need to try some other region like Hong Kong. Other games run without issue. What was the point of the beta if this crap is happening?

                      Am getting the same thing. Time to take game back and get my money. Made 3 different users/psn accounts. (tried asia, Europe, and US) Deleted all game files. Tried hardwired internet connection (60mbps) and 3 wireless connections.

                      • I just made an account here to say that, I [b]HAD[/b] the same issue, until i returned the game out of frustration. I'm a Canadian player. Got the boar error, tried the list of operations from the OP tried with three different PSN accounts three different regions, on two different PlayStation 3s and still every time i got the boar error. after trying in vain for 3 hours after i purchased the game i took it back to the store that I bought it and got my money back. i seriously believe that this cannot be the real issue at hand here if the fix listed by bungie has failed for so many people.
