  • I haven't seen a MMO where there wasn't enough story to fill several books at release, even if they did not include the complete story of the world. Story wise this is a standard FPS campaign, except it is disjointed and does not feel like a coherent story. Compare to Halo CE, we didn't get the whole story there either, but what we got was great and flowed well.

  • I have seen mmo's and they have a basic, main quest. Then they add expansion packs to add locations, quests and character to the world. Bungie's main quest is unforgivable.

  • Sure, but on the flip side, have you ever seen an MMO where the participants can't really communicate with each other? They need to decide what they want this game to be and then actually facilitate that.

I put a lot of time into that game and was probably a quarter to half way through. There was a lot of narrative and characters. Some depth as well. This game's story has nothing.

  • Actually the game is an MMO. Massively Multiplayer Online. Pretty sure it fits into that category pretty well. It's also an RPG, look at that. I guess you could call it an MMORPG.

Well, guess its not an mmo then.

  • You clearly have a poor concept on what MMO means.

There is nothing about this game that is "Massive", especially with the small fire teams and max 6 player parties. Second, it may seem like one but it isnt. It has some small elements from it, but that doesnt mean you outright would scream mmo. It is an RPG, yes. But most of all its a shooter first. So shooter-rpg would be the genre. Not MMO. A REAL MMO is FFXIV, WoW, The Old Republic. Not Destiny. Please stop following the crowd.

  • You realize that MMO doesn't only pertain to RPGs right? The massive in massively multiplayer online games refers to the player base. Not the number of players in any given game. Even world of Warcraft limits you to 5 or 10 players for parties and raids. Destiny falls under the MMO category. You encounter dozens of other players on the several worlds, form parties, run instances, etc. Whether Bungie likes it or not they've made an MMO, even if its focused as a shooter.

  • Story was just a intro agreed but people rather have that dlc put into the game rather than pay for it (should've been in the game already) bungie created a great story Activision sold us less then half. I personally don't care that much because ik it's going to be good we haven't gotten Saturn yet which is a set destination look it up if you don't believe me (also the up coming dlc) and they haven't explained everything so it leaves them with options to see which way the story should go and shouldnt. The game is still amazing in my opinion.
