The raid is said to push you to the limit, if they dont want to include a stranger which for some reason or another cant do his part fully, then you cant really blame them. Being able to communicate could be the difference between a wipe or not. I see that you found someone willing to take you along, and that is really great. But that doesn't mean that the other team were bastards. They dont owe you anything, and they have a hard task ahead of them.
