Does anybody realize that Destiny is far from over....?
Just wondering if there are people out there that realize that what we've played so far.. that 20+ hours you've put into this game so far is only the beginning? That the reason the "story" is lacking is because there really isn't one right now on purpose? That all we've seen so far is a brief introduction into the massive world Bungie is opening us up to (and a damn good introduction at that)? This isn't Assassin's Creed where you play it for 4 days, get through the story and be done with it. I honestly think we've only experienced a tenth of what Bungie has in store for us. Being an intelligent consumer you have to know what you're in for, the $90 I spent on this game is not for a 16 hour story and some silly side quests. It's an investment in a franchise from a company which brought us the likes of HALO. Let's have some sense comrades. I look at a lot, not all, but a lot of these complaints and when you break them down people are, in essence, complaining that they haven't played and seen everything the game has to offer yet. Bungie, over the next days, months, years, will be giving us more to play, see and do. Did you people play WoW or Skyrim for a couple days and then cry? No, because you realized that those games, like this one, are far from over after intro.
I also realize that some folks are never happy. If Bungie had introduced to us from the very beginning, 4389142 gun types, 4378 enemy types, 76 different planets and such, there would be those that after racing through all of it in a week would still be unhappy. These are the people I pray for at night.
I'm saying all this to basically say we need to give Bungie time to reveal to us what they have up their VERY LARGE sleeves. Stop whining about paying for expansions when I bet most of you bought all the Halo DLC when it was nothing but, if my memory serves me right, multiplayer map packs.... nothing to evolve the story like it is in this case... but different maps to shoot each other on... C'mon son...
Let's give an ENORMOUS game like Destiny more than a week to prove itself.. I mean hey, you beat CoD in 10 hours and then shoot each other on the same maps for half a year before complaining.

17 RepliesI think people fail to grasp bungie's long play here. What we have gotten is a foundation. Granted yes you paid 60 dollars or more for that foundation but honestly from the sheer mechanics and the hours I have gotten out of the game it has earned its keep with me. I am loving it and looking forward to what they will do. I just hope more of the lore is explained.

It's only been 9 days. The game in it's current form is an awesome prelude of what is to come. There is so much potential here and I have no doubt that Bungie will deliver an awesome story arch in the months / years to come. Here is an article detailing a theory of the potential plot twists that may be coming, and we are the Darkness.... The devs say this world will stay and endure instead of merely moving on to the next "Destiny 2" and so forth. Like pieces in a puzlle this world will grow bigger with each new release.

U know the reason why People didnt complained about skyrim, was because there was nothing to complain about that was severe enough.. besides you in the first 50 hours you never had the feeling of "been there seen this".. in destiny you return instanly to the place you have been before and then after some hours gameplay you can "explore" exact the area that youve been playing just some minutes before.. . see its really not difficult to understand..in skyrim you could spend days and not even touching the main story..or go explore the vast environment, or try to farm and grind for crafting materials and create your gear, level up, hone skils, (from the list alone you notice the difference) .. in destiny , all of that is not possible.. gear is always the same from level 1 on.. (except some miniscule "exotics" which are variants of the normal gun type.. ) you cant level up your skills, you unlock "choices"or "perks".. see the difference =)

No you paid 60 for a game, that at release had a prologue only, and will have free missions and story coming out each week until dlc release, where massive content is released for 20 bucks, then its back to free weekly missions and story, until the next massive content dump. Its the model wow has, free updates, then huge expansion, ie that panda expansion, or the dragon one.

I have to say that after finishing the current campaign, being lvl 27 with exotics and all, I am having fun every day. Now with that said I do think that the story seems a little pointless. I read it on Kotaku and they could not have said it better, "all that we have of Destiny feels like day one of a MMORPG". I know that this is a new IP and that destiny will grow and change but I can also relate with some of the comments. Right now, all we can do is max our characters and wait for more events and eventually the expansion, let's see where destiny is taking us.

So right, I've never played a game like this before and was confused at the end to star off with. But reading these forums and yours specifically, I realise now that there is so much more to the game that they are showing. I wish everyone could see it, but not everyone is the same. I think people aren't understanding what this game is coming from different types like halo and CoD, but I am one of these and managed to see what Bungie are doing. I mean come on, you think Bungie would leave the story like this in one game after creating Halo? If people still think there is not much story after reading this forum and other forums, I pray Destiny won't let the feedback change what is a beautiful game.

Bungie have to release a different destiny title every other year, making up to 4 Destiny's in total over a 10 year span with a number of expansion packs and DLC in between releases of each title. I really think Destiny have to pull out the big guns in the coming months, because you can be damn sure they will not meet their expectations expected by Activision if the majority get bored of the first destiny too soon which means no multi-million bonuses for them. And a risk of even losing money in the long run during the 10 years. They got lucky with the first title because of people still stupidly pre-ordering titles without researching what the game is first. As soon as the gaming community starts refraining from doing this we will see base games being released a lot more fleshed out without so much content needing money thrown at it to unlock. TL;DR Bungie surely have a few big surprises up their sleeve so that too many people don't become bored too soon which means more will be reluctant to buy future installments.

Back on topic though is Destiny is giving me very mixed feelings, and here are the reasons why. 1: The worlds are insanely big and fun to explore with awesome architecture, landscape, and skybox's Bungie really hit the nail on the head here. But as much as I hate saying this Bungie did promise us way more free roam space. Which I get that there will be a heck of a lot more planets, but Bungie can't take out invisible barriers in an update (way to many problems, glitches, etc). Also I don't feel like this is a free roam game when I'm playing. It shouldn't feel like a chore to decide me engrams when I'm going to come right back. This is why I suggest one possibly two outposts per planet. Last I noticed that we can only explore one region of a planet, so did we only decide to put 3 bug cities on each planet (like seriously they could've had hundreds of places for earth). 2: This just ticks me off is that there servers aren't to great. Like sure it's a HUGE game but they should've anticipated needing amazing servers (I'm not expecting this to be a problem with everyone). 3: The thing I hate but love the most is the loot system because, I absolutely hate that I've gotten 5 legend arises and only once has it actually been something legendary but it wasn't even usable for my hunter class. Which this is awesome because I don't believe that you should be able to get the best gear within a few weeks of release. But if they don't want us getting the best gear right away then why the heck did they make our skill trees so small, award us legendary engrams, and basically hand us exotics right off the bat. If we aren't gonna get legendaries from an engrams don't flipping give it to us. All in all it's a great game an it's only going to get better from here, but these are what I feel the main mistakes are or possibly future updates :)

I choose to not care what haters feel, making games is not cheap and keeping players around is key. Forcing players to stick around and not trade in is brilliant but maybe ahead of it's time. but who cares, I bought digital because I knew from the beta I would be hooked till the PS5 replaces this generation, hell I'll jump over to 5 if it comes to that ;) either way I am very happy that I went digital.

With borderlands right around the corner I'd put more faith into that having more content than destiny + both expansion packs... a more interesting story/guns/classes... I can't help but feel they are really going to string us out on this, Destiny feels like a $60 teaser. The only thing they got right (ai and gun play) feels so much like halo I'd rather bust out my copy of reach to enjoy that. also, I played this game for 2 days, beat it, ran many strikes, got bored... the only reason I still have it is that its the only game i have for my xbox...
