Does anybody realize that Destiny is far from over....?

Just wondering if there are people out there that realize that what we've played so far.. that 20+ hours you've put into this game so far is only the beginning? That the reason the "story" is lacking is because there really isn't one right now on purpose? That all we've seen so far is a brief introduction into the massive world Bungie is opening us up to (and a damn good introduction at that)? This isn't Assassin's Creed where you play it for 4 days, get through the story and be done with it. I honestly think we've only experienced a tenth of what Bungie has in store for us. Being an intelligent consumer you have to know what you're in for, the $90 I spent on this game is not for a 16 hour story and some silly side quests. It's an investment in a franchise from a company which brought us the likes of HALO. Let's have some sense comrades. I look at a lot, not all, but a lot of these complaints and when you break them down people are, in essence, complaining that they haven't played and seen everything the game has to offer yet. Bungie, over the next days, months, years, will be giving us more to play, see and do. Did you people play WoW or Skyrim for a couple days and then cry? No, because you realized that those games, like this one, are far from over after intro. I also realize that some folks are never happy. If Bungie had introduced to us from the very beginning, 4389142 gun types, 4378 enemy types, 76 different planets and such, there would be those that after racing through all of it in a week would still be unhappy. These are the people I pray for at night. I'm saying all this to basically say we need to give Bungie time to reveal to us what they have up their VERY LARGE sleeves. Stop whining about paying for expansions when I bet most of you bought all the Halo DLC when it was nothing but, if my memory serves me right, multiplayer map packs.... nothing to evolve the story like it is in this case... but different maps to shoot each other on... C'mon son... Let's give an ENORMOUS game like Destiny more than a week to prove itself.. I mean hey, you beat CoD in 10 hours and then shoot each other on the same maps for half a year before complaining.

    • The game is the game. You judge the game based on what it is. Not what it might possibly be some ten years from now. Do you still have hope that the amazing vision of 'Colonial Marines' will be realized in nine years? The reason the story is lacking is the same reason there's no voice chat (which is also why there's no matchmaking). It's designed for kids. That doesn't mean it's bad. Just that you shouldn't expect any depth. Accept it. Enjoy the game for what it is. A fun, mindless shooter. There's no RPG (unless you think killzone was an RPG). There's no MMO (unless you think Borderlands was an MMO). There's no story (unless you think a Chicken McNugget has a story). There's truly no shame in having fun with a shallow form of entertainment. (How do you think Schwarzenegger got rich?) Please stop with the "Wait and see! My form of entertainment will be soooo much richer, and intellectual than yours!!". It's wearing thin. (Haven't played CoD since '03, I don't mind people who still do, and I am enjoying Destiny for exactly what it is.)

I agree, this game is far from over. But can BUNGIE hold the attention of the gaming community long enough while other games come out with similar, and possibly better functions? And even a more captivating storyline? What BUNGIE has done is something really innovative in the approach of telling a story and being a shooter. It is still however constrained for being a product that needs to gain consumer attention and interest. I've said this on a number of posts but I feel like it's vanilla Diablo all over again; playing the same missions over and over again to level up and in hopes to find better gear, items with bad rolls, or in this case, legendary engrams that come to be less than legendary, event runs with the expectations if great loot, characters running the same item loadout, a story line without cinematics ( diablo even beats them at this, a story line I could go on, but I don't feel like testing the character limit on this forum. I am enjoying the game, however. For the time being at least.

        • Let the expansions and all hit, and give it a month or two. THEN make judgments. Saying a QB sucks because he loses his first game is a kneejerk reaction that will cost you players that COULD take you to the Bowl. Wait a while, give it that magical word, TIME. Then judge.

          • theres absolutely no ingame system to view grimoire cards and they were too cheap to hire a voice actor to voice the descriptions of the cards

            • No because it's not. The game is basically finished, the rest will be dlc/expansion passes that continue on the stories and open up new map. The game is as close to over as it will ever be for those level 15 and up.

                • Sadly your wrong there's only 2 dlc's in store. The game is what it is and after level 20 thats it, time for the grind and nothing else. I like the game and im addicted but lets be honset we've seen 90% of the game already. There no future in 2 DLC packs.

                  • Did you people even played the raid that was released on tuesday? If you did than you know what kind of extra content and features there were.
(A new 3rd Person weapon which was a Shield, platformming, a maze, stealth, boss fights that involved small puzzles. Time travel
I think that some content are still locked. if u explore the Worlds you will see areas that we cant open or reach yet and some doors will even open if you hold your ghost in front of them. I think bungie have a plan. I dont think they shift out a game with only one raid and 6-8 strikes

                    • Idc about dlc's. When bungie said Destiny was a 10 year long franchise I knew it would come to dlc, but the experience so far is unique so I'm looking forward to the future of this game

                    • 28 hours into the game, and I still think I didn´t even start the game. Damn, I didn´t even finish the story yet, still didn´t set my foot to Mars, never explored Moon and Venus properly and still have some dark spots on Earth. It´s just way too much fun and I always find something I want to do before this or that and I lose myself there for a couple of hours. This game has so much content that I do not get what the -blam!- are the players complaining about all the time. Exploration, Strikes, Story, Crucible, Bounties, Public Events, now Raids... Still not enough and people claim they did everything in the game? Give me a break... The limited edition cost me 110,- €, that is with some extra trinkets, bonus content, future DLC, then consider bonus PS4 content. Sometimes I feel I robbed Bungie, that´s right, I said it.

                    • Yeah, I didn't cry after playing Skyrim because it had one of the most amazing stories of all time. The environment was incredible and everything tied together. This is like a plate of spaghetti and every mission is a noodle- nothing is connected and after you've eaten it, you feel full of empty calories.

                      • That's the problem though, this is the current mmo market if you don't have enough content out the gate to keep people invested then you don't do so well. Look at ESO, SWToR, and other hyped titles. They get a lot of hype, they don't make the cut, people play a month if that, then they leave in droves. Destiny being a shooter gives it a chance to stay alive, but how long? MMO's are starting to migrate to the world destiny is trying to be in, and many of them are doing more things, having more options, and feeling more alive than Destiny. It's a good game, a great foundation, but it needs more than 4 worlds laid out like figure 8's to keep people playing. I'm not saying the game is bad, but if you want people to buy the dlcs, and so on they will more than likely have to throw out some free content or do a lot of marketing, the later of which might fail due to marketing being what people are ticked at.
