What if (and hear me out) the darkness is Pluto coming after us because we disavowed it as a planet.

Here's a theory I can get behind. I'll expand on it. The Traveler is really one of Pluto's moons that left after it was disavowed because it had to 'move onto bigger and better things' and Pluto was holding it back.
