So we are zombies, raised from the dead by some god like orb and then just muck about killing all other races we come into contact with because a guy told us to.
What is the darkness? Is it the Vexx? The Fallen? The Cabal? We kill ALL of them without mercy. Maybe WE are the darkness. Tricked by the traveler into becoming his personal zombie army.
We are called Warlocks, Titans and Hunters. All things with negative, evil roots. They are called Knights, Wizards and Accolytes. Things with positive attributes.
Also, the speaker is a shady dude. Just sayin'.

Destiny has only been [i]just[/i] released and this first game has been stated by Bungie to only be the very [i]beginning[/i] of the content they plan on releasing for it. We're not going to get all of the answers right away. Maybe we don't have a true "face" if you will for the Darkness just yet, and maybe we never will, it honestly seems to me like the Darkness is probably going to be left as this nebulous, faceless, cosmic force, if you will, rather than actual entity or group of entities for a good long while. Given that specific areas of each zone in the game where a boss lurks or is a "boss" zone where you fight waves and waves of enemies are treated as strongholds of the Darkness where you can respawn and if you die there it says the Darkness consumed you, I think it's obvious that all of the races we fight are being used as pawns of the Darkness or tied to it in some way, the Vexx and the Hive [i]especially[/i] and in particular. The Hive are actively [i]worshiping[/i] the Darkness and where they're getting their power from as well as trying to destroy all Light like the Traveler so that only the Darkness is left. The reason that every single alien species is fought with is because they're inherently hostile, all they've done in history of contact with humanity and do when you meet them in-game is attack, so there's your reason for why hordes of them are slaughtered without much thought. And there's nothing negative about titles like "Titans" or "Hunters", the only one of those that you have any merit with is "Warlock", and even then it's sketchy at best as it's just yet another generic term for male magic users and doesn't have any inherent connotations good or bad. Knights and wizards aren't inherently good either or even an inherently "good" term....neither is accolyte (though like with the term "warlock" you actually more often have more negative associations or connotations with the word). So no, while that's an interesting theory that the Traveler and everything associated with it are actually evil and the villains, it doesn't have any merit, especially given what the story in Destiny actually entails.

I would. I'm really hating this "maybe we're the villains" movement that I've been seeing in a few games lately. And I'm not sure why everyone keeps saying the Speaker is shady. As far as I'm concerned, the Fallen aren't necessarily evil, but they have invaded our territory, so we fight them. The Hive used a shard of the Traveler to poison it. As far as I'm concerned, they're some dark aliens. I have no problems killing them. The Vex did the same with the Heart of the Black Garden. The Cabal are just jerks. I don't like jerks.
