Find a better team, dicks like that aren't worth playing with in the first place.

Edited by luckyguess: 9/17/2014 5:45:33 PMThe only people that have a critical speaking role in a team are the ones taking lead, which in a 6 man squad should only consist of 3 leaders at most. At best, everyone else only needs to say "Ok, got it." if even that. Otherwise you have people calling out conflicting strategies. I don't like being on a team where every member is trying to talk constantly because all they have to offer is "Ahhh!!! They just killed me!!!" or "Watch out!!!" or "Help me!!!" and things end up seeming more tense and chaotic than they really are and I don't know where I should be looking. I don't want someone who can't operate their task without screaming for help every 5 minutes and I don't expect anyone to tell me "Look behind you!" if I can play worth my ass. I'd gladly add you to my squad as long as you're perceptive enough to catch on to what the objectives are and skilled enough not to be someone I have to carry through the raid.
-
I feel bad for you being denied playing but i also understand whoever denied you wanting someone who can communicate
-
What system you play on?
-
I understand that struggle myself… cuz I'm deaf. I knew coming into this game being deaf I was gonna have to work twice as hard to beat a team. To constantly try figure out what one player's doing without a headset is just nuts. So a few of us (all deaf) thought about getting on FaceTime or something similar to that so we can just communicate by sign language. Can you sign?
-
When I have the gear and the time I wouldn't mind raiding with you.
-
I watched Datto's stream of the raid and know that just one person that cannot communicate would significantly reduce the odds of beating it so I understand their decision. Hopefully once most people are 30 and more familiar and comfortable with the raid they will give you a chance.
-
I see you
-
then you should find a team, and layout a battle plan so they know, you know what your doing.
-
People with disabilities must unfortunately be excluded from certain activities. This shouldn't have surprised you. Your entire team needs to be firing on all cylinders all the time to complete this thing. Lacking the ability to call out for help or call out enemies can seriously break a team. If anyone thinks I'm exaggerating go try the final boss. ONE mistake and you could cause the entire team to wipe. Nevertheless I sympathize and hope you find a group willing to work with you.

You are completely able to still do it. Its not like the vault is locked for you because you are mute. Sorry bungie didnt compensate for you being mute( because its totally their fault.) I believe we should also have the kinect banned for people without arms. Actually lets just get rid of all video games because the blind arent able to see them.
-
That's just stupid people. I actually value someone who can listen and do what I need them to. You are better off without them.
-
I am so sorry :( having been in the vault though, I can't imagine us having got as far as we did (not far tbh) without being able to call out mobs or time things right. You likely wouldn't enjoy it... My suggestion? Get to like lvl 28...And get a mic so you can take orders. You'll be effective enough against the mobs that your team won't care. Again, I'm so sorry.
-
And people wonder why online matchmaking will not be implemented. If you had a group of close friends that you have gamed with they will understand and still bring you in. If not, get new friends that are not complete a-holes. :)

Edited by Untrentide: 9/17/2014 3:35:56 PMUnfortunately, some people want at least some communication because they want to be able to clear the raid. If anything this enforces that we require alternative forms of communication in game such as more emotes (Agree,Disagree,Help Me, Coming) or even simple texting or pre-build sentences.
-
So did someone report youfor not talking then...how did they know to ban you? If so im -blam!-ed as my headset is broke and i took out the xb1 spy device lol
-
Everyone is so rude and mean.... Dude your just gonna have to msg peeps and find someone who is ok with ur disability. Post again asking for peeps to accept you... Maybe there's already a group of peeps who play together that have disability like you... I used to play with a guy with one hand, he was freaking incredible on Halo 1
-
Man, that sucks, but after watching the streams there's no way you could do a raid and not have one person speak they were all in communication with each other the entire time and I could see how not being able to communicate would be off putting :/
-
This is why that game need some kind of chatbox !
-
I understand that communication is important...but I'm pretty sure My being a mute is not a reason to deny me a chance at it...
That is really up to the team, isnt it? The raid is said to push you to the limit, if they dont want to include a stranger which for some reason or another cant do his part fully, then you cant really blame them. Being able to communicate could be the difference between a wipe or not. I see that you found someone willing to take you along, and that is really great. But that doesn't mean that the other team were bastards. They dont owe you anything, and they have a hard task ahead of them.
-
who cares stop bitching. why does everybody have to make such a big deal about things its a game. Everybody's always so emosh all the time
-
That sucks, man. I feel for you. But this isn't the fault of your teammates. This is just another challenge that a differently-abled person faces. I seriously hope someone is working on a solution for this. Everyone should have a chance at the VoG. Question: Do you think there could be a clan for deaf/mute gamers?
-
That sucks man, hope you find good people to play with.
-
That's rough. Out of curiosity, how did you tell them that you were mute?
-
I don't know what exists in this niche but have you considered some kind of speech system that you can pre-program with phrases? As others have said here, a fireteam might not want you because it would seriously hamper their progress because you're unable to communicate the things they need to know, but ... it seems that if you could have something generate the necessary commands/replies for you it wouldn't really matter that you can't use a voice of your own. I am thinking of something along the line of a soundboard, there's plenty of such things for the iPad or other tables, so here's the setup I could see working: 1. A table containing a soundboard app, with prerecorded messages. I would definitely consider recording a message telling your fellow teammates about your handicap to let them know that you probably can't answer general questions other than through the preprogrammed responses. Obviously you could add a voice synthesizer into the mix that you could type replies into to be able to do that but it would complicate matters. 2. If you're on Xbox One, I would get the stereo headset adapter for the controller, and a splitter so that you can plug the one minijack cable from the adapter in the controller into a headset, and into a cable that you would stretch to the tablet. In-game you would use the screen of the table to communicate, this would "speak" the preprogrammed recording, piping it into the controller as though it was a microphone. I agree that you being mute should not be a reason for denying you a chance to play raids, but you *do* have a handicap, but there could be ways to circumvent that. Best of luck whatever you choose though.
