I just got denied doing Vault of Glass for being Mute.
I understand that communication is important...but I'm pretty sure My being a mute is not a reason to deny me a chance at it...
*EDIT* I am mute as in born without the capability of speaking, folks.

1 ReplyI don't know what exists in this niche but have you considered some kind of speech system that you can pre-program with phrases? As others have said here, a fireteam might not want you because it would seriously hamper their progress because you're unable to communicate the things they need to know, but ... it seems that if you could have something generate the necessary commands/replies for you it wouldn't really matter that you can't use a voice of your own. I am thinking of something along the line of a soundboard, there's plenty of such things for the iPad or other tables, so here's the setup I could see working: 1. A table containing a soundboard app, with prerecorded messages. I would definitely consider recording a message telling your fellow teammates about your handicap to let them know that you probably can't answer general questions other than through the preprogrammed responses. Obviously you could add a voice synthesizer into the mix that you could type replies into to be able to do that but it would complicate matters. 2. If you're on Xbox One, I would get the stereo headset adapter for the controller, and a splitter so that you can plug the one minijack cable from the adapter in the controller into a headset, and into a cable that you would stretch to the tablet. In-game you would use the screen of the table to communicate, this would "speak" the preprogrammed recording, piping it into the controller as though it was a microphone. I agree that you being mute should not be a reason for denying you a chance to play raids, but you *do* have a handicap, but there could be ways to circumvent that. Best of luck whatever you choose though.

1 ReplyI have had this issue as well. i am not a mute, but i can not use my voice for long before it goes out. Due to it i am unable to do most group stuff.

From what ive seen its bloody difficult to even enter the vault of glass... I know its harsh but if i was playing with strangers i would want them all to be miked up Communication is key to complete the raids i think is what bungie are aiming for. If your on PS4, you can join me for strikes but i haven't got 5 Friends to take on the raid so i wont be going near that for a while. not till people know how to complete it and i can play with strangers and not need mic's nesseserily. BTW... i am not supporting there decision but its hard to argue or make a sudgestion other than make the raids easier or allow 7 players...

Not sure what console you're on but if you're on PS4 then add Fawkzi, I don't mind playing with you. Also to those saying communication is key, yes that's true but just because he can't speak that doesn't mean he can't hear, there is nothing stopping the fireteam leader from giving him a role to play and him following it, you don't need to speak to follow instructions, those guys were just asshats.

Maybe those people weren't smart enough to know that. Only immature little kids should give you any problems. You could always have someone explain to them that you can listen and take raid orders just fine.

2 RepliesWe did 3 WoW xpacs all on 25HC Server firsts, with our Main Tank being mute - he was by far the best tank we ever played with. As long as you can hear the RL and follow instructions then being mute is no hindrance at all. I'm sure you'll find a raid group soon!

Just run it with friends. People who know you. Not some random A-holes from the internet. And if you don´t have enough People in Your friendlist. I am sure there are plenty of People here that would like to help you out.
