There is nothing sentimental about it. Games are supposed to be fun in the first place. Having that said there is nothing wrong with being competitive (or at least try to) or even being fanatic as long as you understand your own limitations AND still can have fun. Only few are good (and lucky) enough to reach the pros however the later generations seem to grow up with the idea they all deserve it especially when it comes to video gaming... Now that is sentimental :)
