The Raid Needs Matchmaking!
It's all well and good to have five friends who play Destiny--most of us do--, but having five friends who also made it through the tedious and boring grind through lvl 24 - 26 is another thing. I also find it funny that Bungies' excuse for the lack of Raid matchmaking is that they only want dedicated raiders, when anyone from the public can enter the start of your Raid session from Patrol. So, I ask that we are at the very least give the option to MM for Raids.
If you're dedicated to raiding, you're going to be using the dedicated Raid lobby. A lot of Bungie's decisions don't make any sense.

I agree with the tower area solution. Tower should be more all-purpose like The Citadel in Mass Effect. An area to meet up with other raiders and also a firing range to test weapons you've gotten would be a good start. (Why not test the weapon in-game? Well, because you lose ammunition that way. Switch launchers and you go from 5 or 6 rounds down to 2 in, with none in reserve. Then fire one off to test it, and now you're down to 1. Whereas I could have just gone to the Vanguard Armory, walked in the firing range and tested all my new gear, with no penalty to my ammo... Especially before a high level mission with a bunch of bullet sponges, lol)

One solution to this and similar problems would be to introduce a "looking for group" area in the tower, with text chat plus opt in voice chat. The tower feels sterile at the moment, just a handful of traders annoyingly spaced out. This sort of thing would give it some life.

There are already people getting mad about players leaving during strikes. I doubt that raid matchmaking will be a thing.

I noticed this. Majority of players say No! To matchmaking because they have already done it. Now if you allow mm then like one guy said on here it's only for elites not casuals. Everyone let's not take there elite status away by doing mm. I wouldn't want to take away there elite self worth away.....

If they put matchmaking in, it will unleash an unholy storm of grief. More people would be flooding the forums with complaints about quitters, inactives, trolls, complaints about difficulty and lack of a step by step instruction on wtf your supposed to do. In all honesty I dont care if they implement it. I'm just warning you, if they do, it wont be pretty and it wont be as you expect it too. If just 1 person quits, or even lags out, you are Pucked. Royally violently Pucked. Replace P with F if your lost. No amount of MID-Session matchmaking can deal with people quitting. People AFK strikes on purpose, you really want to deal with that in Raids?

Those who have done it and say no to matchmaking what difference does it make to you? Let's a group of randoms try it and either get slaughtered or succeed, you just carry on raiding like you do. There's no reason not to give everyone the option to have a go at it however they want to.

I agree, what's the difference between playing with a bunch of randoms from the tower, randoms from matchmaking... Normal raids at least should have matchmaking, all strikes for sure... I can solo weekly nightfall strikes.

3 RepliesI don't mean to disagree with you, but you have all the tools you need right here on these forums. 2 weeks ago, I had 5 people on my friends list (ps4). Today I have about 20 something. Everything I have achieved in this game from beating the raid, getting thorn, and even finding a group of random people to do the raid came from posting on this forum. I honestly believe that if people would not post on the forums to whine and complain about the problems with the game, and make posts like starting groups or getting help with something, they may enjoy it better. It took about 30 mins to find a group to do the raid and and we...a bunch of randoms beat it on our first try together. All I am trying to say is that this is the main reason I think this app and these forums are here.....to find other people that want what you want.

Okay I see your point and understand where your coming from but I disagree. Simply put raids are not casual. They are for the elite. They require serious commitment and strategy. I think there is a real beauty in the 6 man team that is self assembled. Think about this, any pro sports team or any kind of pro team is made up of members chosen for their talent and skill. Not randomly picked and assigned. Not that there is anything wrong with that but it is little league stuff. We can do better. Rise to the challenge. Consider it motivation to make some friends online. So thanks bungie I love the way you handle this and I am excited to get assemble my team and take on the vault.

1 ReplyNope. Trying to do a raid where you die countless times, have to communicate efficiently, have to execute perfectly, no freaking way if you play with random, would you be able to do this. I've been at this raid for almost 11 hrs over the last three days. If you just get jumbled into a hodgepodge of randoms, there is 0% chance of you finishing this raid. Those randoms would just quit after having to wipe for the 20-25th time. If you loom for people on here they are random people, but then you can take the time to get to know each other and talk it over, before choosing to go into the raid. If you just get thrown in with randoms, everyone better be really good at communicating, and actually good at the game.

Also for those people including Bungie who say it is impossible to do the raid with randoms just think of this. For every team I bet there will be a huge majority of those players who want to do well and may have even done the raid before but have no friends online, if we have proper team chat available even better. There should be a system to start off at certain checkpoints you have reached also, hard but not impossible to implement.

I hate that Bungie decided they know what's best for me when it comes to matchmaking in Raids but even more importantly weekly heroic strikes. Also in not being able to skip cutscenes and turn off the music :)

It needs matchmaking for the simple reason so people can see why you need a finely tuned raid party...and for people like me who will probably never get a chance to be in a raid party (work hours and family) who can get a taste of what the raids are. Otherwise, why did I buy this game? To grind for days for Vanguard/FWC/DO/NM/Crucible gear so I can dominate in PvP? Or make a sweet Hunter twink?

Agreed. It may be easy for some to get all their friends together and grind it out, but what about us who don't all have all our friends on the same console, all our friends at the same level, on at the same time because of work or night classes, etc.

100% agree. The whole games needs to be. It doesn't affect me so to speak as I have 5+ friends who have the game but when I first got Xbox I had none to play with and this may be a turn off for new players

I would rather get killed a lot with ransoms than not be able to play the damn thing at all! Add matchmaking!

Me and a team of full 27's, fully geared and all on chat and highly skilled with amazing teamwork and problem solving... It has taken us 3 damn days to get to the final boss Atheon. We have got him down to 50% and are preparing tomorrow to go back in tomorrow night to finish. This raid will -blam!- you in the ass over and over without any lubricants. Match making is the stupidest idea you could ever conceive for such a daunting task. They didn't add match making because they know, NO MM group will even have a chance at it. I hope they add match making just so you scrubs can get pissed off at not being able to open the front door and then come back to forum crying the raid is too hard! Nerf please... *edit* PS- seriously no joke, the first Match making session you get into will be everyone running around in circles with their fingers up their ass killing mobs and not capping the 3 control waypoints at the front entrance. You wont even be able to figure out the simplest part of the raid... Getting inside... Promise...

No it does not. Wasnt designed to be beatin in one day. If anything it should be 4-6 players and scale the difficulty and or gear rarity

Because there is no matchmaking and i don't have 6 friends who are online at the same time, and i don't have time to arrange a "play date", I and many, many others are being excluded from the higher content!! There are many excellent games coming out soon Bungie, I would suggest that you do sommething about this or quite likely people are gonna walk!!! I refuse to do pvp mostly because i don't enjoy it, however i have no vanguard bounties left and can't do the raids/strikes. The game is basically over for me, other than grind away for mats to improve my gear. If i'm not getting into the raids etc, then there is no reason to improve my gear!! The game is pretty much over for me, unless i want to grind the same strike, the Tiger, oh! I forgot, i've reached my limit of 100 marks so i can't even get the gun i want for like 3 weeks. "blam" this crap!! If MM isn't opened up for all soon Bungie, i'm gone!!! and don't kid yourselves, many others will be gone too!
