Here's my take:
The Traveller and that "God" thing in the end (The Heart I guess) are no different from each other really. They both came for self-preservation. The Traveller came and "blessed" us with the light that begun the Golden age of humanity, which is a sugar coated way of saying, The Traveller needed something to help defend it's being and gave us the means to do so for it.
The Fallen are at war with the Hive and us, and the Vex are at war with the Cabal. The Vex and Us are basically the same, dead objects brought back to life by some super power "thing". The Hive were actively trying to destroy it in the one mission with the giant shard, but we returned that to the Traveller for it to heal. The Fallen have not tried to destroy it by any means, neither have the Cabal, but they have been messing with the Vex portals and trying to hold them down.
The Hive have probably been manipulated by the Traveller before, which is why they seek to destroy it. The Traveller won't choose them, so they want to destroy the Traveller before it destroys them. How else would they have so much data already about the Traveller? The Fallen are trying to wipe out the Guardians to become the new Guardians, they have seen what the Traveller can give and they want it for themselves. Same story with the Cabal. They have seen what the Heart can do to create Vex and they want it for themselves.
Another point to drive this home. We have abilities such as solar, arc and void. Fallen have Sepkis (machine "God") that have void abilities, Hive have shields that defend against different elements, cabal have arc and vex can teleport or blink. These simalarities show that they have all had some interaction with Traveller given abilities, most interestingly the defensive abilities of Hive who probably developed methods to defend against the Travellers powers. Vex also have shields to negate elements, probably given by the Heart. Are the Vex and Hive working together? They have never been seen fighting each other in the game....
That's all I got. Let me know what you think.

Eh, that's not really the case with the Hive. While we don't really know why they hate the Light (so your theory about the Traveler and the Hive might actually be true), the Hive are actively seeking to convert the world to Darkness and leave only that remaining. I don't think the conflict with the Traveler is personal so much as just their quest to have the Darkness devour the light and be left reigning supreme. It's also explained that the Hive have seen the Darkness consume dozens or perhaps even thousands of worlds, so that's probably why they would have any real knowledge of the Traveler, because they've seen it all happen before. The Hive's powers as a matter of fact are derived from the Darkness from what I've read about them. And the Fallen are really nothing more than scavengers and pirates. I don't think they have any actual vested interest in the Traveler like what you suppose, but it's a good thought. Right now it just looks like the Fallen came to scavenge and loot what remains of humanity's Golden Age.

Ya, I was just making a guess based on the gameplay and what not, so I'm probably wrong lol. But what you said about the Hive does make a lot of sense. I guess only time will tell eh?
-
I see a God/Devil aspect with the Darkness and the Traveler.
-
We don't even know what the darkness is, it's been too vague to actually know. It could just be the enemies or the Traveler itself. Maybe the traveler wiped us out and is preying on our ignorance while it heals
-
Who really knows?
-
Bungie, since the core element of the destiny story is the mystery of the traveler, we should get an answer before this is over
-
I agree. I'm just going to keep playing 😊
-
But which one is which...
-
THAT, is the true question. And is there really an element of time travel? The Exo female is weird to me. Her weapon description said the something about it being from another time or something. Either way, the story seems larger than what is giving off.

this is what i think:
-
Or the developers where to lazy to make new powers and just borrowed them...
-
Yeah there is growing support for the Traveler is evil theory. I think it's true, I could see some part in the nest destiny game like Halo 2 where you team up with the Elites. What if you team up with the Fallen? They are pretty cool kinda like the Elite equivalent.
-
I don't think it's evil perse, but another form of being that can only protect itself indirectly. It let's other beings be a parasite to it for it's own benefit. Kinda like our bodies are "Travellers" to the billions of good bacteria in our stomach... =D
-
It would be cool if we joined with the fallen, imagine the fallen being a forth race to become guardians
-
OMG that'd be soo epic bro!!!
-
I feel they could make the story better as destiny expands
-
Yeah I was thinking something along the lines of that a well.
