Your definition of "fun" compared to my definition of the same term are completely different. I don't need to escape to some fantasy world, or whichever reason people choose to play a game. I like getting armor and weapons then dominating people in PvP. If it happens to ruin someones day or make them rage, then even better. It's a game, and if you live long enough you will realize that it is fleeting and will not last forever. Enjoy the "fantasy" until it is lost to time.

  • Your supporting argument, valid points, expressive concerns, and reasons as to why you believe whatever it is you are believing have been given a great deal of thought and has an overwhelming amount of proof through your massive literary block. Oh wait, I was looking at my post.

  • I agree whole heartedly dude. The fantasy/ sci fi world is great and I've loved playing the bit of it I have (just got to Venus), but for me it's all about winning in the crucible. No other thing gives me the same rush of adrenaline and excitement than getting together with my clan mates and CRUSHING the other team. The other night I saw a titan literally running away from me in fear and the pleasure that gave me can't be replicated in pve.

  • Fun by its very definition; especially when interacting with others should bring joy to all, not just to yourself, nor should one person's "fun" inflict any type of pain on another. Of course, I respect that you are who you are. ;)

  • Fun is, and always will be, subject to the personal likes and dislikes of the person. If fun is to bring joy to others, etc. then that is once again your definition of fun.

  • I respect your preference for gameplay. doesn't sound like you are very respectful of others though. I didn't interpret that SacredHeart was being negatively critical of any approach to gameplay but was asking if there are still people out there that play for the enjoyment of escape into fantasy or has most simply turned to building their stats.

  • I am very respectful of others, but this respect should not and will not be conveyed through my actions in a game where there is an objective to win and the outcome of failure is losing. You cannot even remotely consider a term that is subject to opinionated interpretation as meaning one particular thing, such as this "escape to another world". He used it as an example, and I gave my opinion on it. There is not right or wrong with how someone plays the game unless they are hacking or breaking the law, and if that is fun for them then that is their belief. However that results in actual punishment. My preference does not.

  • Ahh, I see I have a archnemesis in this one. Let me ask you this then, Why do you persist in making peoples life difficult on a game when you say yourself that its only a fleeting thing? why not just as simply let them enjoy their own brand of fun like you do? I do agree with you on a certain degree, I find it a bit hilarious to make super try hards rage and do their extra best to beat you, all because you upset them by killing them a time or two, but then where is the fun in taking out that same sort of mentality on people who simply play to enjoy the game and see what it has to offer? I feel like now at this point you just enjoy causing other people mental and emotional suffering, almost like a sadist, and you do this on a virtual reality because you "escape to this fleeting reality" to live out your own fantasies of ruining other peoples days. :P and just like that, I call out a hypocrite. Because we all know if you did that in real life you wouldn't be around for much longer on the forums or on the game, living out your own "fleeting fantasy" as a simple killjoy and a bit of a bully :P

  • I would get away with it: there's no crime in being better than someone else in a video game. Someone can perceive my actions as bullying but that's farthest they will get with that claim. And that's the point of it. Being better and dominating i multiplayer and ruining someone else's experience in the game mode designed for that specific purpose is what this game, if not all video game, multiplayers have intended results for. You look at League of Legends: hyper competitive, horrible toxicity, and an overall bad community. But it's competitive. Destiny is not competitive in the slightest, but that doesn't mean people like me won't treat it that way, and I enjoy that. Also I don't see the hypocrite or the hidden bully IRL idea come out here: that's my idea of fun in a video game, and your idea of sadism is rather wrong here: it's getting pleasure from causing pain and suffering, usually referred to in a sexual way. I need 2 hands for a controller to play well, so obviously I can't shake the stick and play Destiny and still be good while causing whatever pain I might be inflicting. And pain is interpreted by the recipient, and if they're somehow suffering from emotional or physical pain because I am better than them at a video game there's a different IRL issue I'm not apart of that has nothing to do with my actions. And once again, your enjoyment of the game is different than mine. Always think of it like this: there are people who play halo's campaign and not the multiplayer, just the multiplayer, or they go for both and finish everything in their entirety. It's a game, it's purpose is to cause "enjoyment" spontaneously.

  • You completely missed the whole point I was trying to make with you man, I was merely saying what I said to try and show you that your idea of a "fantasy world" is in contradiction to your own actions, because you find your escape in this virtual "fleeting" reality as you see It by dominating others to an extensive point. Sure, you do have a good point in that even slight competitiveness can bring the worst out in people, but in the end, it is still left on you as the individual how you compose yourself on any front, even if its a fake reality :P So don't go blaming me if you get a lot of hate mail for your own words or actions, just remember, If we ever want to make a lasting impression on others, its always the first moment when you meet someone that makes that difference and you yourself are making your own outlook to be that of a bully.

  • Your circle arguing now, but I guess I will restate my message: games are fun for me when there is a competitive feeling to them. I already know it's a fantasy world, and I already know it is fleeting. Comparing the two through your perception was not the message I was delivering and was precisely why I separated those two ideas with a spacing to show you that there was a correlation between them, but there was no example that you can draw a conclusion to tell me how I believe it is fleeting because I already know; my statement is to inform you that it is fleeting, and that the emotions you derive from it will be lost. Is that too much to understand?

  • Not at all, so I take it then that any enjoyment you find in inflicting distress on others is just as equally unfulfilling? Why not then just take the time to enjoy the game with others instead of trying to make the game more unbearable for others to play? :P Since both forms of enjoyment are lost over time as you say, why not just make the game more enjoyable for all instead of the hassle your trying to make out of it? :P
