Don't get me wrong, I am enjoying the game but I think your comparisons to WoW are pretty stretched and inaccurate. WoW when it opened had so much more than Destiny. It is too early to speculate but if we are to based Destiny's growth on WoW's then I think it will fall very very short in the long run.

  • I only compare them in the sense of sitting in Dalaran waiting for my arena que. Plenty of folks around, people are busy farming and grinding. Don't tell me the comparison is inaccurate.

  • It seemed you were making comparisons based on the content - instead of the above situation you are referring to, and Dalaran was not in woW on it's initial release so it is irrelevant as a comparison to Destiny. I remember even back in Vanilla enjoying the questing and it was very structured and informative, relative the Warcraft Lore, so again - are you comparing the story telling of WoW to Destiny? Because that is completely off the mark. Like I said I am enjoying the game and agree a lot of people bitch about the game unwittingly but I disagree with your attempt to make a comparison based only on the above mentioned experience and your own anticipation that the level cap will be increased.

  • Do I need to describe all of WoW? You do realize probably only a quarter of WoW vets are on destiny? Fine, let's go back to vanilla instead of comparing destiny to what WoW is today. From the start we've always had leveling areas. You see other gamers running and jumping around, doing exactly what you're doing, or what you're about to do. We've got classes. Just 3 of them. They do have 2 specs though. Not too much room to experiment but I bet a dlc or two will fix that. Quests? Dailies? Instances. Any of these words ring a bell? Destiny holds this same model except I don't have to be max level to raid. I could add more I'm sure we both could. And WoW wasn't the only game I brought up. You can relate destiny to a lot of games. My point is destiny wouldn't exist without them. But WoW is indeed a game they took A LOT from and almost every review I've read acknowledged this fact.

  • OK, point taken, I overlooked you made the comparison to several games but the prospect of experiencing the level of expansion you are anticipating is pretty exciting so fingers crossed.

  • It is exciting, isn't it? I hate to think this is it, I've been playing on the Playstation since I was like 3 and I've been on the Xbox since it's release. Look at it from my perspective. Halo 2 online. Competitive online shooting gameplay on the console. I got so bored though. I wanted something better in terms of social, but still had tu be competitive, if not challenging. WoW took its place, it was both. But this introduced a story line that was always going on. In halo, you pick a level. In WoW, you fly to shat, or ride the zep. You know? But this. You've given me a halo character, who moves like a cod soldier, who levels up like a diablo toon, patrols areas like Borderlands. The loot system can be compared to all. Need I go on?

I think the comparison to WoW is fair in terms of structure, but I think the point KyleZeGoon is trying to make, is that at launch, WoW had MUCH more content than Destiny has at launch. Sure, everything is there (leveling, dungeons, heroic dungeons, pvp, and soon, a raid, etc.), but WoW just had more of everything, Leveling could take a month during Vanilla, not two or three days. WoW had at launch (if I remember correctly) ~15-20 dungeons that could be run, not six. It had professions that Destiny does not. It had far more collectible items, armor, reputation than Destiny has. It had far more lore that you could get in to if you wanted. More classes (including class quests), more races, more socialization, it just had MORE, which has been my biggest grievance of Destiny so far. Don't get me wrong, I'm very much enjoying the game as it is still, and am really looking forward to what will still be release in the immediate and long term future, but I just wanted more.

  • Ok, I get both of your points then. But this is why I brought up earlier that we're on the console, not a computer. Have you guys played titanfall or diablo 3? How about battlefield? These games can't be as big as WoW bc there isn't enough room/power/ram. But thanks to expansions, this can be fixed, slowly, but surely.

  • Diablo 3 on PC, but to be fair you kind of expect the grindfest with it being Diablo and I am hoping for so much more in Destiny. Battlefield and CoD yes - I actually much prefer the mechanics and setting for Destiny and feel the potential far outweighs that of the fore-mentioned, in fact I never look forward to map packs or additional content for CoD/BF - other than Zombies because it always feels like they are squeezing the last bit of money out of your wallet. I just hope that Bungie do not ignore the feedback they receive because among the bitching and whining, there are many valid points to improve the overall experience and using expansions as the platform is the perfect opportunity.

  • You're so right. I would hate for it to be a grindfest though, but I don't mind it. As long as it pays off. But apparently it doesn't. For me on the other hand, I disagree. I think people are getting spoiled. Spoiled by the imaginary, non existent, legendarys that drop more often in diablo than they do on destiny. Baha
