Don't people play for fun anymore?
I remembered why I started playing video games, it was a way to escape into a fantasy world for hours on end that provided entertainment and just fun. These days, it seems like everyone has forgotten what the simple purpose of video games are; Destiny being no exception. It seems whether it's PVP or even PVE; players have gotten so serious about playing. Now don't get me wrong, when engaging an enemy, of course everyone wants to win, but even if you lose, it should have been fun just to try, especially when facing off an enemy with allies at your side. Sigh...maybe I am just sentimental and I probably will get heat for this post, but....I really want to know....do any of you players...just play to have fun...win or lose...just the adventure itself makes you happy?
Hi everyone, first off I would just like to thank all of you for commenting on the post. Even if you have different opinions, it's absolutely fine because you are more than entitled to it. I was just happy to read that so many of you still believe in the basic fundamentals of fun, and even though some of you have carved out your own definitions of the word and what it means to you, I sincerely hope that you truly enjoy your gaming experiences, whether its with Destiny or any other game you might play. I only play for fun. It gets pretty annoying sometimes how seriously people take games. For me it just a way unwind and forget about my troubles for while. There's nothing like blowing off steam while shooting some Fallen or Vex!

8 RepliesWhen there are so many options to choose from, what would you pick that gives the best bang for your buck AND time? This is especially true when people nostalgically remember great games they've played in the past. People want games to be more expansive and immersive than their previous experiences, not the other way around. I'm not saying Destiny doesn't deliver a fun experience, it's just that a lot of other games provide the same experience on a grander scale.

1 ReplyI played PVP for a few hours with my brother and his friend last night and we had a blast. I can't tell you how many of the games we won or how many we lost and that doesn't bother me. We had a great time, and to me that's what keeps bringing me back to this game.

Fun. Most definitely. I can lose matches or get it handed to me in Strikes but as long as I'm having fun I'll keep coming back. Destiny one if the games I'd say you have to play to understand.

This is the first counsel game I have played in a long while. I mainly game on a PC and have been playing with in the same gaming group since 1998, The Death Dealer Mercenaries www.deathdealermercenaries.com . But I got to say so far I love it. I am looking for a mature laid back group of counsel gamers to run with thou, if that's you send me a friend invite. Comms a must I hate texting or typing.Its a game, have fun the rest will take care of its self. Good hunting Plague out.

1 ReplyGood Point. I enjoy the game for the social aspects. I can play solo and do quite often but really enjoy visiting with friends. Another thing that makes this game fun is that you can get gear for your level at any stage. I spent a few hours getting a friend who had just signed up to lvl 7, was going to just get him to 4 so he could unlock pursuits but was having so much fun went to 7 with him. And it was not boring, as a matter of fact he was a wizard at finding chests, and I got a number of rare and even a legionary while helping him in the first few missions and on Patrol. So while I showed him the ropes on easy missions I leveled up 2 ranks and learned a few new tricks and upgraded my gear. Those that run through the mission and only play with friends at their level are missing a whole aspect of the game.

What if winning and farming is a person's way of fun? Everyone has different definitions of fun, even if it diminishes others fun. It can be annoying sometimes but you just kinda have to accept that. xD

2 RepliesI really enjoy doing patrol and story mode with friends. When i switched to my subclass i went back to Russia for some grinding and farming and it's so fun just to do patrols and the occasional public if you happen across them. I'm going to play with a Lvl 8 friend all night just for the fun of it. Eventually I'll get around to trying PVP because i have bounties and want to try everything, but that's not the draw of this game for me.
