Apparently, most of you have never played an MMO

I see a lot of people on here complaining about how hard it is to get items of all types. This game has been out for less than a week. MMOs are grindy in nature (it takes time to get the best gear).

    • The main issue is most people expected this to be like halo or call if duty and surprise it is not it is better in my opinion with the mmo mechanix people need to either accept it and play the game or go back to playing call of dookie where games are crap and wins are cheap.

World of Warcraft which is an MMO released in 2004 and is still alive and strong. It has been 10 years. Ever Quest was released in 1999 and people still pay to play that. Ultima Online was released in 1997 and people still pay to play that. Guild Wars 2 was 2004 to I believe done looking up release days of 10+ years. IF Bungie wants to make money and keep Destiny around for 10 years they would want to make it an MMO, because MMO's are the wave of the future. Though Destiny is not an MMO as most see MMO's, it is a new breed of games. If you don't like it might as well unplug the system. This is where things are going. Massive Multiplier Online Why take out the one proven element in the game that makes residual income. One more note that I cannot stress enough. THIS IS NOT HALO. HALO IS DEAD, because it was the same rinse and repeat application to poor shooter games that lack ingenuity which brought us the call of duty repeat.

            See while not defending any 'haters' I do think that it's partly bungies fault that there's been such negativity towards the game it hadn't turned out to be what many thought or hoped and it hasn't even turned to be what bungie said it was. It was stated by Bungie that Destiny 'is not an MMO' yet the trouble with that is an MMO is basically what we got. Clans. PvP PVE Raids Strikes Loot Loot grading system Boss battles And so on. Personally I love the game I never got on board the hype train hoping it was going to be completely open world massively story driven etc I just love it for what it is. But I can see why some are so disappointed/upset. It's not an MMO that is basically an MMO.

          • Many of the people here only own a console, myself included, so we never really get to play MMOs.

            • I agree with your post you have to put the grind in to get your gear. However I will say it needs more endgame content at the moment it's bear bones and needs a bit of meat. They should add more strikes, more random events, better and a different verity of missions, more vehicle combat, pine races or timed mission with leader boards and I could go on forever. The only thing is how much is going to be free and what are they going to put behind a pay wall

                • First off there is virtually no communication in the game. Hell even DC Universe a F2P MMO has ways to communicate with others. The tower is a vending stop and nothing more. This RPG with a few MMO traits has a serious shortage of initial content. We capped level on the 1st day. That's day one for you dead beats. This is not an MMO.

                  • I had no trouble getting gear.... but then again I am a mmo vet having played the mass majority of them. Its a hard equation of "time wasted vs time being productive" sounds simple but is not. How much time did you really spend doing your preferred grind? Did you focus on that grind/objective? Did you just run threw sporadically killing here and there? or Did you terminator it killing as many things as fast as possible while still focusing on your main objective? All these points play factors in the larger equation....

                  • Im used to MMO's, but damn Im starting to feel like the game is putting me in a catch 22. I need to do higher level content so I can get better loot so I CAN do the higher level content. But when I try the higher level content I get my ass handed to me because I dont have any loot that will let me not get my ass kicked by the high level content! I did the a lvl 22 strike on the Moon with two other lvl 20's. A titan, a warlock, and I was a Hunter. Things were going well until we got to the boss. The difficulty spiked right through the -blam!-in' roof. I mean im used to strike endbosses where there are a lot of extra enemies, but we could barely stay in the room with the boss. Just the regular enemies could take us down with a few hits, much less the boss. We tried a bunch of times and after seeing how impossibly hopeless it was, we gave up. Grind is one thing, but this isnt just Grind, its luck too. Like being lucky enough to get Light-infused equipment drops from enemies so you can kill higher leveled enemies with a better chance of getting Light-infused equipment drops! I'm basically just WAITING. Waiting for the game to say "oh, here's a piece of gear you can use. NOW you can go do some harder stuff" In the meantime, I just do the same strikes over and over and roll the dice at the end for loot.

                    • I would agree but most mmos I play don't have you leveling up through gear. So if ur as unluck as I have been in this game you get stuck at levels and don't get to experience the rest of what the game has to offer. I say it fine to keep the legendary drop low but at least let players level up.

                      • Agreed. This game has too many FPS players whining that a 7 day old MMO is acting too much like an MMO. Funnily enough, almost everyone who bought the game played the beta, so they knew exactly what the game was. Gamers have a whiny, bitchy, self-important, entitled reputation for a reason.

                          You know what the mm in mmo means right? Massively multiplayer. 3 player games? 6 player "raids"? So massive. What a dumb thread lol.

                            • I can honestly say I've never played a mmo, and a lot others playing destiny are in the same bout....the difference I like the grind like mass effect borderlands diablo it gives you something to work towards and then when u hav enough you hav to make a choice...I swear gamers nowadays are like addicts they need instant gratification or else they think the game is trash
