Ridiculous defenses I have seen of Destiny so far.
I love bungie, I loved halo, but let's face it. Destiny was a let down. There is no way you can objectively justify the lack of a story, the redundant missions, the horrible dialogue, etc. Yet people try to justify it anyway. I'm putting together the most ridiculous defenses of Destiny's mediocrity I can find:
1. The dialogue is supposed to be short and to the point.
2. Destiny is not an MMO, so don't expect to have more than 3 players or voice chat
3. Destiny is an MMO, you better get used to it. MMOs rarely come with the whole story.
4. The campaign is just a prologue. It will be much better when they release DLC.
5. The missions are supposed to be repetitive.
6. The missions aren't repetitive at all!
7. Go play call of duty you cod fanboy.
8. go play halo you halo fanboy!
9. Yes, halo had interesting campaigns, but this is not Halo! Go play halo if you love it so much.
10. I think bungie did a really really good job
11. The ghost is a ROBOT! He is supposed to sound emotionless.
12. the ghost has a lot of personality, you just don't understand Peter dinklage's deadpan delivery.
13. Destiny is really really good! You are just a troll.
14. bungie has a plan!
15. You haven't even played the game!
16. It's an RPG! RPG'S aren't supposed to be about action.
17. Destiny is not an RPG, it's a shared world shooter.
18. You are just butthurt because you keep dying.
19. The story is in the grimoire! Just open your computer or mobile app during the game!
20. The game starts after you beat it.
Face it guys, I really wanted Destiny to be fantastic. I like it a lot, but it was nowhere near my expectations. Expectations bungie had me believing.

I love how you went to try using both sides such as it is this and it isn't the same thing, when in reality it really is all and none. It is completely different than any of the others as it is a mixture, so no one will be true or false. You wouldn't take Halo and CoD and compare them exactly together, or Army of Two and Defiance. While they may all be shooters, they are completely different styles, some being sci-fi, some story driven, some military based, but all different in their own way. Same goes for Destiny. It has the RPG and Shooter aspect, but neither one is what defines it. No, it does not have a lot of story to it, but I don't see where they said it would be a long story or never have you repeating the same things, you simply assumed things for yourself rather than looking at it as something new and its own style. If you look at things objectively all the time then you are set to be disappointed in the end.

10 RepliesAnyone that played the beta has ZERO reason to be disappointed. F you didn't enjoy the beta, why would you think that you would enjoy the release? I enjoy playing with friends and it has solid mechanics that still allow the repetition to be fun.

See while I do see the niggles (yes I said niggles) in the game and it's design I have been and will continue to enjoy the game. That isn't to say I didn't expect...more? And perhaps better from Bungie. Story wise I'm at the second mission on mars but have heard the game ends rather abruptly. Story,backstory and lore are pretty much only included in the Grimoire which sucks as while I wasn't expecting a super story heavy game a bit more exposition on the races and the story of the city world at large would be much appreciated I don't think anything in the game annoys me more then the speaker 'I could tell you about the final battle......but I won't :| World wise it's very hypocritical this isn't an MMO so don't expect X and Y. It is an MMO so expect X and Y Regardless of the view destiny is a good game a good game with the potential to be great it just needs more handling and planning put into it seeing as it's bungies first dip into a MMO Esq. FPS I will give then the benefit of the doubt But if the end product after the DLC etc isn't up to standard then they stand no chance of a purchase for destiny 2 from me.

My friends and I are pretty critical of games and were not easily impressed, but our time playing Destiny is one of the more enjoyable gaming experiences. I understand all the gripe people are having with this game and how they feel it's lack luster, to short, to grindy and and the story is shit. Personally I have no problem with the game, based on the demo I had a feeling what the game was going to be like and I wasn't disappointed when the full release came out. I think people just over hyped this game for themselves and now they're left disappointed because they were expecting so much more. We have to remember that the game was just released and they said that they're going to have weekly content lined for the game. maybe if you stick it through you might start to get something out of it. Honestly I'm reluctant to suggest anything for people who already hate the game because I'm get the impression that these people have already made up there mind about the game and honestly coming up with reason for you to keep playing the game may be a waist of time. If you hate, you hate it, move on to something else you might enjoy. In the mean time I'm going to go ahead and keep having fun with the game.

the problem people are having with it is that they hyped it way to much in their own minds. so their either still so stuck in the hype they cant see the flaws, or the hype they had was to high and they cant have fun past the flaws. i went in expecting it to be an ok game, something new to play a few friends. what i found was a good game that was fun to play with a few friends. corect me if im wrong but im pretty sure both bungie and actavision are new to the whole mmo rpg thing (or shared world shooter rpg if you'd prefer) so instead of getting hung up on the flaws lets give them good valuable feedback to help them make amazing game. its a darn good game on its own never mind the fact they are hatchlings to the genre. some may ask why i thinks its good and honestly its just really fun to play right now, its something new and exciting thats not yet on the next gen consoles. its not just another shooter, or slasher. or sports game that the big companies have been piling into the market lately.

I play this game for the coop and in that aspect it's great. Same with Diablo 3 and I didn't think that story was fantastic just a reason for you to do what you do. This is a fantastic game I have fallen in love with the grinding despite it all. And I agree I played the beta I know exactly what I was getting into and wasn't the beta open? Why didn't you try it before hand?

2 RepliesEverybody has their opinion and preferences. I for one, really like this game. While I agree the story could be better (along with a couple other things), the rest of the game is really well done. And as for the story, there's still quite a bit more content to be released.

4 RepliesI tell you something.. I got a thin, repetitive f2p-like mmo shooter for about 70€ here in germany. The grindfest would be okay, if there was a interesting and motivating story. Destiny has nothing to offer if you are interested in a satisfying singleplayer-experience. Its funny for a few hours if you join others players, but that's all for me. Not interested in long time grinding or wasting money to complete games via dlc. No hate, its just the way it is. I expected more, something different. I will sell my copy after finishing the story.
