Depleted Hand Cannon Bounty 2 *Feels Almost* Impossible

[edit2] Guys seriously. I posted this first week the game came out. This thread is full of a variety of different strategies as well as people trolling about how awesome they are and there are STILL people replying to this several times a week. If you can completely it easy, that is fine (no one likes a braggart), the game has been out long enough that anyone should have a way to do it now that works for them. I have had to turn off my Companion App notifications because this thread just won't die...after like 4 months!! [edit] After having to completely rethink my strategy and play-style for the crucible - filling out my titan's void subclass, learning how to shoot a fusion rifle and predict player movement, not going on the offensive, and finding the best place on each map to camp (ideally near heavy ammo) and just shoot those that come near - I no longer feel this is impossible as I have managed to get past 300/500. You still have these losing streaks where you can simply not touch other players, but it does go up....slowly. For anyone that claims this is easy, please elaborate how you did so, ie game mode, guns, class, strategy. Its one thing to claim its easy, but it is also good to share your strategy for those who don't do much of the pvp. [original post] I was so exited to get an exotic weapon bounty the other day, which has so far required me to beat the Moon raid boss and kill 500 hive on the moon, however the second bounty you have to do for this is impossible. It requires 500 points worth of kills using void damage in the crucible, which is okay given each kill is worth 5 but every time you die you lose 2 points. So unless you are an insanely good player that can somehow compete with auto rifles and headshot experts you cant complete it. I spent hours trying to do it and managed to get up to about 50 points (mainly due to being matched up with players more around my skill level) and then just lose them all again over the course of 2 matches where the other players were either significantly better than me or simply had faster guns. There should be a mode where you can only use special and heavy weapons as these can simply not compete with primary weapons in terms of speed, or an alternate non-crucible method of completing the bounty.

  •
where you can simply not touch other players
That's my biggest gripe about the Crucible: Players who are immune to everything I can shoot at them, but can one-shot me. Every. Single. Time. I've even seen players survive a direct hit from my Nova Bomb, and then turn around and one-shot me. And there are whole clans full of them, that end up being the ENTIRE opposing team, in almost every Crucible match I enter. Sorry, Bungie, but your Crucible fails the "fun" test. PvP should be set up so that a brand-spanking-new, level one player, with the most basic armor and weapon in the game (and a modicum of skill), can take out the best geared players in the game. That's where Assassin's Creed got it very close to right: Playing a lot of PvP will earn you perks and advantages, but not a single one of those perks or advantages makes it impossibly difficult for a "level zero" brand new player to take you out. When an experienced PvP player like myself (I've been playing PvP shooters since the days of Quake) can empty an entire mag from a fusion rifle or hand canon into another player, and then hit them three times with a melee, and they still don't drop, something is VERY WRONG! (Speaking of Quake ... where's my GIB gun when I need it?)

    • Well it is not so easy but possible. Did it with a warlock and no void primary weapon. Secondary void shotgun heavy with a void machine gun. Played yesterday with a hunter and word of crota, void shotgun and void machingun 248 of 500 points after 7 matches even me who sucks on hand cannons... so keep om trying

    • I did it back when special ammo was ridiculously easy to come by so you could use a shotgun as a primary. I was a Voidwalker who blink-shotgunned everything I saw with a Hammer Forged/Final Round void Judgement VI. Also I had a void Deviant Gravity-A. I feel no shame for my actions.

    • I thought it was going to be really hard but for some reason I went on the best crucible run of my life and was getting 25+ kills a game with very little deaths and of all weapons I was using a rare fusion rifle, so for me it was just pretty much lucky

    • I got that bounty very early in the game and didn't have any void Heavies or Primaries. Got it done in about a week as a Hunter with te only awesome sniper I had: Y09 Longbow Synthesis. I used blade dancer's invis for maximum self-preservation (didn't wanna lose ANY points cuz my only way of getting them was with sniper kills). I've always been an avid sniper in video games tho so sniping for that bounty probably isn't a good idea for everyone lol. i even recorded the sniper kill that got me the bounty completed :) also helped that my sniper had Final Round but i didnt even know how that worked entirely until about 2 or 3 months ago

    • Yeah I agree, this is ridiculous. I would be fine with losing five points every death and getting five every kill. The void damage is a punch in the dick

      • I did this as a hunter. I used a void shotgun and the aegis of the kell in void. Beat the 500 void kills in 6 matches. Play safe and get rounds on target. You are golden!

      • I finished my Thorn bounty way back before the AR nerfs, back when Atheons Epilogue was useful in PVP. I think it is on of two void primaries, besides the POE pulse rifle. Also I used a void fusion rifle from the FWC. Again this was back when fusion rifles were really good. My advice to anyone now, it try and re roll Her courtesy to get void damage with full auto and battle runner. I have it like that and it's amazing, possibly better than found verdict. This does however take some time to get, especially when you're at the mercy of RNGesus. Oh and if you have Corrective Measure, that helps a lot too. How ever, again this was before the heavy weapon drop changes and the machine gun nerfs. I found it easiest to run and gun with the following load out: Primary: Atheons Epilogue Secondary: Void Fusion rifle or shot gun Heavy: Corrective Measure

      • I'm terrible at PVP but with a little luck I was able to get this portion of the bounty done in a few days with one monster session of several hours on the last day. So yes, being terrible it will take some time. But it can be done. If you're k/d ratio is near .8 you'll always make gains, however slowly. My loadout: Titan Defender with a void shotgun and void heavy machine gun. Primary hand cannon. Strategy: I don't aim well against other players. Lag, their evasive maneuvers, my poor control of the thumb sticks. So I decided not to run everywhere. I mostly walked or crept around the maps. No sprinting just for the hell of it. This allowed me to be very deliberate and mostly keep my eyes on the radar. When you see that thing light up, get yourself in position to ambush someone with your shotty or stick them with your void grenade. Use corners and tight corridors to your advantage. Obviously when you can get your hands on heavy ammo you can light people up with the machine gun. The PVP game type that worked best for me was Control. Control gives you specific areas of contention on the map, so you know where everyone will be. With a little repetition you'll learn the usual approaches that everyone takes. You'll learn where the "hot spots" are on every map and how to exploit that. It also helps to stick with your team as much as possible. Since you won't have a ranged weapon to lead off with, let them break trail for you. Let the enemy get distracted by them then you rush in to finish them off. It sucks that you're stealing kills from hard working teammates but hey...do you want the bounty over with or not? Lastly, when in doubt use your primary. A non-void kill to stay alive is better than a death. If it's an open area of the map, or you aren't sure what's around that corner and you feel more comfortable with another weapon in your hand, make the switch.

      • it's not easy, it's definately the hardest out of all the exotic bounties (barring invective, which i disclude as i haven't done that one yet). but I did find it much easier using Altheons epilogue (Assault rifle from vault of glass, has void element), i used this, in conjunction with a void sniper rifle and a void rocket launcher, hogged heavy ammo where I could, managed it in about 10 games or so. definately harder than bad juju's, if you can manage vault and get altheons epilogue, it makes it a TONNE easier, but otherwise, try using sniper rifles, it's easy to nab kills without being at risk if you stick with teammates, and void heavies will add an almost guarenteed couple of kills to your tally with a bit of patience! Good luck.

      • I agree.... somewhat... I'm running this bounty for the third time all have been with my hunter, the first time I have to agree 100% that this was/is a pain in the butt to complete and took me weeks (3-4) until I figured it out... Get a 'rare' void fusion rifle and play control, any void shotgun will work too on some maps, work between two points and after 5 to 15 matches you will have this knocked out, counts on your kill to death ratio. Got this bounty again and I was able to complete it again successfully using the same strategy. My issue is this bounty sucks if you do it any other way... I'm currently running in the Iron Banner (control) working on other bounties and if I do not use Void Special / Heavy weapons after each match my progress points goes down. I wish I could put this bounty in the vault to use 1) With a different character, 2) When I want to complete the bounty. We should not be penalized and or stuck with any bounty, right now I just want to focus on the Iron Banner and not waste any time elsewhere. Good Void weapons are rare... I was lucky that Xur had the Truth, without that and or Deviant Gravity heavies this would be even more painful, I hope in the expansion if you are going to have bounties where you need to use Void energy, please have a faction with a decent void special weapon (Two to the Morgue is junk, too slow, only Void weapon sold in the current expansion) The only other bounty even close to this is for the Pocket Infinity where you have to scrap 20 rare fusion rifles, it takes many weeks to get that many rifles only to scrap them for a Junk/Buffed exotic. C'mon really. Bungie show some love...

            • Although I'm a long way Bungie fan, for ages I must say, they fail on that part of the game. Instead of ENCOURAGING people to play pvp, by, for example, unlocking special features for this gun once it has been unlocked, they do FORCE you to do pvp to get the gun at first. You lack psychology on that one, guys, forcing people is not the right way to do it in a game, as a game must remain FUN for players. And I personally absolutely don't get fun at all at the moment. I rather feel frustrated regarding how much really costs this game in the end. Anyway, how good is this gun in the end?
