EXOTIC GEAR
How in the world are you supposed to get exotic gear(or preferably a exotic scout rifle) From what I have heard you can use strange coins. But I only have like 1 I think. What are these "strange coins" used for and how do i obtain them?

You can level up the cryptarch really high and occasionally they will be unlocked by high level engrams, you can get them from raids and nightfall events, and from level 20 strikes. They are hard to find. That's why they are exotic.

I got it at the end of a control game that I demolished people in. I'm not sure if that had anything to do with it or not, but as far as I understand it's pretty random. They also take forever and a lot of materials to upgrade.

You are not supposed to be rolling in the exotic gear. Hard to find and get. Which makes them coveted.
