People like you are the precise and exact reason that being gay can even draw aggro in the first place. Nobody needs to know that you're gay, I don't come to the forums for a VIDEO GAME and start proclaiming that I love tits. Your sexual orientation is private business, wholly irrelevant to us or you fully enjoying this game. Keep it to yourself, and maybe look for friends or other gamers based on criteria other than their freakin sexual orientation.
You are not making some sort of symbolic stand by coming out like this on public forums. You are instead drawing attention to something that should be considered normal, not abnormal. The more that people like you shout to the world about your orientation, the more you foster the perception that you are doing it simply for attention. You take something normal, and make it abnormal.
Why can't we all just be gamers? The details divide us, they don't unite us. This is the same exact thing as a 12 year old proclaiming on the forums that he is 12 and shouldn't get any hate because of it. For god sakes, if you dont tell people the reasons to potentially dislike you upfront, then you give them the chance to form their own opinions naturally.
Everyone can enjoy Destiny together without ever knowing each others ages or orientations. The devil is in the details, and put bluntly, we don't need to know them.

Actually, I think you're the one making a big deal out of nothing. If being gay is normal, then why are you so upset with someone who is looking to set up a clan for other gay gamers? It's no different to people who want to set up clans for particular age groups, or clans for women, or even people from a certain geographical region. Ultimately, it's none of your business. :-)

Although I agree that being gay shouldn't define you and it shouldn't effect how you play destiny or who with I must admit, I did think about join a gay clan simply because having listened to various clan podcasts they seem to know each other quite well so at some point it could come up and then I run the risk of getting hassle or being dropped. However I was probably overthinking it. It's more important to find people who are online the same time as you

This kind of thread only serves to seek attention the same as any celebrity who has a public "coming out". They make some people angry, a lot of people happy, but most just really don't care. It serves no purpose other than to bring attention to themselves and their preference. It's really not needed in a forum for a video game that has nothing to do with the subject matter presented in this thread. I'm sure there are plenty of LGBT groups and clans he could find easily enough on his own without resorting to announcing to the world that he's gay and asking for others to join in on his completely irrelevant conversation.

Actually, most people in random games still spew anti-gay slurs. Your assertion is false. Hearing someone call an enemy one of many names like that is daily, if not constant. There's a difference between a declaration of one's sexuality and asking a question, because it isn't super easy to find an LGBT-friendly group on here. It isn't. It's people like you that say shit like, "showing other diverse cultures and religious practices is shoving their beliefs down my throat," while simultaneously berating anyone non-Christian. But I will also say that my problem is people who assume they know what they are talking about making a huge fuss about it. Think about it, how often do you hear "bullshit, I shot that guy in the head and he knifes me? That's so -blam!-in gay!" And other shit like that? It's quite prevalent. So when homosexual people try and reach out to eachother to not feel so alone, yes they publicly share their personally sexuality, but that doesn't mean they are shoving it down your throat. It's not like he showed up in game chat and said "ok guys, I'm a homosexual so I don't want to hear anyone say 'that's so gay' or talking about how much they love pussy (yeah, that one happens pretty often too)." So I don't see why you have to come in here guns a blazing about something you don't care about. I don't see you getting on all they guys in BO2 about their near pornographic pictures of vag and tits. So why this if you don't care so much?

Back when I played Blops, I reported every explicit emblem I saw, simply because they're against the ToU. At any rate, it doesn't matter. There is a clan forum for posting this kind of stuff. And back when this conversation took place, there were a LOT of posts like this on the forums. Posts about "girl gamers" and "gaymers" and anything else regarding race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, etc... don't belong the Destiny forums. If they belong anywhere, it's Clans, or the Flood. This thread was even moved to Clans later on, as it was originally posted in Destiny. At the end of the day, nobody really cares what you are. I'd post the same thing if somebody posted a thread asking for "straight gamers".

While I heavily doubt it, I'm gonna take your word on reporting inappropriate pics. What you fail to understand is that, while people may not really care all that much, there are a lot of people who do take advantage of it as a chance to just be a dick to other people. And it's not like maybe once a month you come across some dick who, as soon as there is ANY indication you're not a straight guy, starts berating people. It happens all the time. I'm a 23 year old (girl/guy)." "Nice try squeaker, now get out!" -or- "Then what you doin here bitch? Games aren't for girls? I play to get away from my girlfriend!" -or- "How pretty are you? I bet you aren't pretty at all. You should send me a pic to prove you're not ugly" -or- "The -blam!- fag, nobody wants you here. Stupid cock sucking ass pirate!" I've heard all of these many times. You can say all you want about how YOU feel, but cyber bulling is alive and well in the online gaming community.
